The first sex symbol. Too bad she retired in 1926, a couple years before sound came to film. I would have liked to heard her voice on film. Nice music.
She did go back to the stage for a while. Someone on this platform has a clip of her talking in an interview - forgot which channel but i really encourage you to do a search. Kevin MacLeod is a brilliant composer - and I think most of us are using his music :)
Regrettably, her voice could never have matched her screen persona; there is a radio interview from, I believe, 1936, and she had that honest Cincinnati accent in spades! Pity, because I would have loved to have seen her have a long, prosperous career.
actually you can find 'A Fool There was' on this platform, a few channels have it uploaded, but I think only 3 of her many films survived, and only a snippet of Cleopatra, a few seconds clip that can be found on LOC website and other sites.
@@RhiannonsAdventuresInHistory I've found four versions of "A Fool There Was;" two were completely silent, one had Pachelbel's "Canon in D" repeated over and over through the entire film, and one was scored, unendurably, by Wing.
Stunning!
Theda is a wonderful subject to colorize - those eyes of hers, and her expressions :)

@@RhiannonsAdventuresInHistory Normally in a lot of videos the music is often annoying but this give you the feel of those days and going back to it.

I'll bet none of her films survive intact today

I hear about six have survived so far.
