Simeone needs to improve and get more from his squad but this ESPN FC crew is way too critical ......he won la Liga 21/22 which is fairly recent.... Are we expecting Atlethico Madrid to dominate Spanish football???
They need to create controversy and chaos to gain views. And to unnecessarily pile pressure on some manager or some players to potentially have them fired or ruin their careers. This is what most of the ESPN pundits do. Their hopes at the start of the season were that Barca would struggle and they could keep bashing on players like Lewandowski, Raphina or new manager Hansi Flick. But their predictions backfired so they have to settle for trying to destroy Simeone's reputation in hopes that enough naive and gullible Atletico fans start moaning and create a toxic situation for the coach and the club which possibly ends in a sacking.
Reality is Simeone MADE Atletico Madrid what it is today. He made them relevant. Certainly the most successful Atletico Madrid manager of recent times. Maybe of all-time. This is a club which was relegated around 2000 if I remember correctly. He brought them back to relevance. 2 La Liga titles, 2 UCL finals, 2 Europa Leagues and every year they're at least top 4. That's about as good as you can realistically hope for if you're Atletico Madrid.

That’s why Barca, in the midst of a “financial crisis” have gone from shambles last season to arguably the most in-form team in the world, whilst renovating what was already one of the largest stadiums in Europe and maintaining the best academy in the world. Let’s not even start on Madrid. That’s the reality.

What gets me about La Liga is the fact that everyone is berating Mbappe but no one is calling out Jude Bellingham for his god awful form this season. The guy is constantly losing the ball and people just keep making excuses for him. Are there double standards for English players?

Considering the magnitude of RM's and Barça's success in the 21st century, the only team that comes close to those 2 in terms of trophies is Atlético de Madrid 🔴⚪️
You can make an argument for Athletic Club Bilbao, Sevilla and Valencia having more trophies (Copa del Rey, Supercopa, Europa League).
But Atleti has been consistent in their La Liga and Champions League presence for the past decade.

The most successful coaches in world football today hasn't been as loyal as Diego Simeones's years at one club. To drop Simeone will probably be the death of our club for probably 5-10 years. The DNA of the club and Simeone is ingrained in us. Kicking Simeone out will be extremely counterproductive. Don't want any opportunity to where we could end up like current Manchester United for the past couple years! As Alex said "be careful what you wish for".
