How to scratch build a submarine into a spaceship.

- This week I turn a submarine into a spaceship which I like to call SpaceSub or if you want a real name, Long Tom.
Taking a few different model kits and bashing them together until I come up with something is the general synopsis of this week's video.

Oooh, a flying train, now that sounds really cool! Though how ya gonna do it Capt. Ahab; future high-tech or Victorian steampunk...??? 🤔
Either way I'm sure it will turn out cool (as long as you get the exhausts on rightways up this time 😁)!!
@earlware4322 😂🙄you and those bloody exhausts. Well I'd really like to dabble in a little steampunk flying train. Think I need to branch out. I love steampunk stuff and made lots of house that had elements of that genre. So watch this space.

When I first saw the picture for yur video I thought it was a ship from the anime Starblazzers..haha Excellent Kitbash!

When you did music I was kinda expecting the battleship Yamato theme.
I've seen some model or animated space ship paint jobs that will mask off a vertical separation line designed to be reminiscent of naval ships, but from the top its designed to blend in against an ocean seen from above, and from below it's designed to blend in with space, or possibly cloud.
I've also seen a nice technique for windows and other glowing bits where you flood the recess with some fairly thin white oil paint and then go back over it with a tiny puff of a transparent ink from an airbrush once the oil paint dries, it makes the windows look like their glowing and the little bit of over spill from the airbrush does some simple OSL.
Ignoring instructions like you ignore my texts. It's good enough to impress Cpt. Ahab! Great job all around mate.

Wow, now that is what I call a great space submarine kitbash Captain Ahab!! I love the paint scheme on this one and all those little winglets look fantastic. Got really strong Battleship Yamamoto vibes from the thumbnail.
The only thing that botheres mw about the whole build was the tank turret/cannon needed to have a solid base to sit upon. Other than that this was awesome!! I've always wanted to try a kitbash like this, guess I need to try and track down some cheap sub kits online. 😃
Yes I agree on the turrant but it was a spure of the moment thing and as you know. I don't think things through, just stick and go with the flow😂
@@TerrainbyAaron Well, it still looks very cool so can't argue with that. At least the sub's exhausts weren't on backwards or anything. 😃

Not familiar with that but no it called the long tom.
@@TerrainbyAaron space destroyer soyokaze is from the series "irresponsible captain tylor". Its roughly sub shaped and shares the colour scheme.
Ux-01 is from space Battleship Yamato (otherwise known as star blazers) basically U-boat with hyperdrives

Ahab. Where did you pick up these *inexpensive* kits
Hi, most of them apart from one came from hours of search Amazon. The tank in the grey box was 15 euros from my very expensive local model shop.
Yeah, I have found some really inexpensive kits on Amazon, but you have to dig really, really deep to find them. I call those my Rabbit-hole window shopping trips.
