I film my videos on #lumix and GoPro cameras and lenses and sometimes on an iPhone.
Really enjoying this one Stuart. I've done that journey many, many times and I've always found a degree of excitement when I get closer to the final destination. The hotel looks great and what good value for such a nice room with that spectacular view of the port. All that topped off with a super cheap tercio de Aguila. Paradise! Can't wait for the next episode. 😀👍
Another great video Stu.. keep them coming..really brightens up my days watching these.
Bargain!! Love driving around Spain and exploring little towns
Loved this! Please do more!
Thanks Stu for taking us along...a nice cold beer is a perfect way to settle in once you arrive from travelling. Enjoy!
Madrid has more of an inland continental weather*, so summer clings longer in Valencia. Sea water temperature there is still 25 C (just checked), perfect for a swim. Low season is great, with less people. You even managed to park just at the entrance of the hotel.
*Scorching summers and cold winters; even day and night temperatures vary greatly.
Enjoyed the road trip so much, thank you. Take care.
Castellon is a nice city. They do have a hi-speed rail station there, so that's convenient. The plaza by the church is a hot spot for bars and restaurants. I didn't find a whole lot of things to do, but it's a short ride to Valencia.
Utiel Requena good area for wine..monastrel grape if you can find it instead of tempranillo. You won't believe it but I started watching at the same time as I opened a bottle from there!
It is quite common for bars to have Estrella Damm umbrellas and not serve it. Three of the four bars in our village have them and nobody serves it, it’s all Estrella Levante from Murcia (the green one)
Third city is Elche in Valencia if I'm not mistaken. Nice video, as always
Elche is worth a visit, too!
No, it's Castellón, it's the 3rd capital from the Comunidad Valenciana. In order: Valencia, Alicante y Castellón. Elche is the second most important city in the province of Alicante
I agree. Nice town and with Europe's largest Palm Plantation dating back centuries. (wish they'd take a bit more care of it though). Wonderfull beaches with sand dunes. @@isobelmatheson8036
Cada vez me interesan más tus vídeos
Excellent video, Thank You Stuart, well done!.
Great to follow, especially on a rainy day here. Look forward to the next one Cheers
Nice that you could visit Stu and hope you enjoy your stay...I moved to live in the heart of the Valencian countryside near Sagunto (not far from Castellón) and love living here.
Superb to see the Roadtrip with an interesting ‘as it is commentary’. Looking forward to the linked Vlogs on the region. ⚓️🍊🍕🍶🍷🌅
Great video and brilliant prices! Enjoy it!
I'd call that a bargain, Stu !
Ah shucks! Should have headed toward Murcia. Still hopeful. Good eating there. Really fun program. Keep up the format.
Sometimes is better pay a couple of euros more and have better food, less than 12 euros is difficult they give you food of quality.
Loved the road trip, Stu! Since you're (no doubt) AUTÓNOMO, I hope you're calculating your mileage and saving your meal receipts.
I too worked as such for many years in travel & tourism here in Madrid. I expect to return to it after retirement. It can be tiring, but lots of adventures every day which will keep us young.
Yours truly, Scott in Madrid
Very nice blog! Enjoyed it a lot!!
Hi Stu, we were in that area a couple of weeks ago at Peniscola, a fantastic place and you should do a review of this old town around the castle.
The stomach is full ☕️🙏😊
Thank you, Sr. for your nice video from Spain 🇪🇸
I’m enjoying the recent videos of urs, so that I can understand the local side of spain
You discount a restaurant because it's 2 euros more than your usual budget?
If you use Google maps or any other maps app on your cellphone, , when you find a town or city you have the option of using the nearby option for restaurants and it will show you where, in the town or city, you can find a place to eat. The same applies for hotels, etc.
Are you actually explaining how Google maps work!!!!! FFS
@@jaymuller1369 No. I am just mentioning that using a mapping app tool, helps to find the services that are in the vicinity of the destination that we are searching for.
@@jaymuller1369To be fair while watching the video I was wondering why he didn’t check on google instead of driving around “old style”.
Have you thought about doing the famous camino walk through the Basque region vlog..that would be an adventure
Nice video, thank you. :)
Enjoyed this video Stuart.
Stu getting 'hangry' (hungry + angry) is one of my favorite parts of this video. 😂🤣
At a certain point I thought he'd just go full bogan, give up and go hunting but fortune favors the bold and patient, lol.
And those prices are a STEAL. As you said, that beer alone would be around 3 EUR in Madrid. Looking forward to the next video!
Wonderful journey and great driving.
Excellent road trip Stu. I will be driving around Spain in a little over three weeks to explore the non tourist locations and actually see the country. So this was great.
Wish you had shown the lunch. But the hotel and beer is a good price compared to tourist locations.
Ive been to Castion and the surrounding areas quite a few times. Lovely area. My parents live in Moncofa. Awesome place. Was nice to recognise Porcelanosa buildings.
Great sky! Fluffy, bubbly clouds
€1.80 for a tercio of Águila in sight of a marina, that's pretty good!
It is!
The third largest town in the Valencian Community is Elche not Castellón de la Plana.
I didn't know that and I'm from Valencia. But I think he refers to the importance of the city, the order is this one: Valencia, Alicante and Castellón, they are all the capital provinces. Elche is part of the Alicante province, and it's the second most important city in the province of Alicante, after Alicante.
I was right!!! Haven't been to Castellón for a long time... dyng to see see your vlog¡ By the way here in Terrassa, the temperature at lunchtime was 22°C!
A nice road trip, Stuart. I'm so glad you found somewhere to eat. If it's just for the room, it's a fair price. However, I would have expected a little cheaper. Enjoy 😊
Actually I thought the price of the hotel room was quite reasonable considering it was in a good state, and overlooking the lovely harbour!
Thanks Stu love these vloggs ...are you still in Valencia? Have you been to Pilar de la Horadada?
I was in Castellon. Just this weekend. I enjoyed the big playa (15 min. drive). I think it's a fairly standard city,. There are some nicce places, but nothing to exceptional
Down in Mazarron, Murcia we pay anywhere between €12 and €16 (down the Puerto) for a MDD.
Okay, have to ask what you have against Estrella Damm beer?😅Cheers and safe travels!🍻
Hey Stuart! when on the road I thought you’d promote how good service stations are in Spain …fantastic food & menus …compared to the uk etc
Starting to long to return now that the cold has returned to Sweden. ❤
Switzerland and Sweden are not the same country
@@tooththrhr????!!!
Great video Stu 👌 as a matter of interest how much was your lunch please? - the chips looked good!
Hi, the meal was €9
@@spainspeaks thanks for that :-)
Hey! I rekon you hit 130 + on those straights, love them... good move not get the speed gauge on camera! 😂 jokes aside, loved the road shots👍
I've done 250 Kms a few times lol
Looks like in Spain you still cannot see advertisement for eating places advertised at the exits of autopistas like in the USA. Something to catch up to!
You are wrong, the US is the one who has to catch up. Who were those ads banned because they distracted drivers
Not that far from us. We live not far from where you joined the AP7.
Enjoy Castellón. I am looking forward to your videos.
I thought Stu was going to end up in McDonalds!.
Why do you avoid Estrella Dam?
how much was the hotel room?
Which day ofthe week is this with only so few people around.... Tourists gone????. Thank you 🏖😍
The anxiety Spain gives me. You’d think a place would serve you a beer at any time.
Elche!
UPDATE: Ahh you said the coast so probably not Elche. Im off to Santa Pola in 2 weeks
We really liked Santa Pola; and indeed many years ago stayed at the hotel which was right on the beach, and was surprisingly good value for a more up market hotel!
Laborious industry in the Valencia and specially Castellón area isn't there? ceramics is their speciality there indeed. It's funny how different areas specialised in different products, like shoes in Alicante, .. perhaps there's a theme to cover there?! 🖖
Ceramics very famous in the Villarreal area
@@jaymuller1369Not to mention Seviila
@@janethaver3375
Yes but we are talking about the Valencian area
Spanish bathroom ceramics common in UK
porque no has parado en honrubia ,en el marino que es un restaurant de camioneros?
Get some fresh manchago cheese in La Mancha if you can.
6:35 Dude, you drove for that long looking for "something, anything" to eat just because you didn't want to fork out the €2 to €3 more that you were hoping to spend on a meal 2:30? You probably spent more than that on fuel looking for a place to eat.
CONTENT creation lol
Don't do it on a Friday afternoon absolute chaos outside lane jam packed I used to do it regularly on a Friday when I tipped Madrid as a truck driver
Tipped, yes ok but 99% of folk don't understand what it means. Glad to be put of the int trucking biz myself.
Castellón de la Plana?
Deal of the century why stay anywhere else, but there's nothing renewable about plastic windmills and solar panels made of coal and quartz especially there longevity
I have a question for you Stu;
Being an Australian living in Spain, do you think driving on the right side with the wheel on left is better or driving on the left with the stirring wheel on the right is preferred ? 😂
I am from the UK. Makes no difference at all, the brain adjusts immediately. Also, drive English car on the continent, slightly more difficult as you cannot see very well when joining a main road.
I'm not positive, did the place you found lunch at ... the man sounded like he greeted you in English..?? Sounded like .. "Hey How are you" to me. Not sure?
Estrella is okay gotta german influence but no argument Mau used to get a'Madrid is great
Hola tots
Done it to Barcelona and Malaga and the roads were nowhere the condition of the roads you are driving on.
Murcia
That's not in the Valencian community
...are public toilets freely available?
I'm afraid not. Your best bet is to pop into a café or bar, order a drink or snack and use the facilities.
@@welshtoro3256yes 😮but you pass 400ml and take on 200mm plus perspire a little. Kinda standing still and
wasting time and it cost money, but options? Get a campervan,!
@@QB2ERS I kind of get what you're saying but it's cheaper than a camper van. Take a whizz in a local place.
@@welshtoro3256 different kind of holidays i guess. Being retired we are not time constrained, could'nt afford to pay hotel bills for the 600+ nights we've had in our present campervan, 99.9% freeparking some call freecamping. @@QB2ERS That's what the cheapest Tourists in Europe do , the French.
Seguramente Stuart, el menu de Utiel es mucho más bueno que el de Madrid. En la Mancha La comida es muy buena sobre todo potajes y carnes.😊
