    I have the m1 air and love it. I’m a college graduate, came from a 2014 retina pro, and don’t need the superpower a pro would have. I love the portability and that it’s able to handle several simple tasks/applications without issue.

    I have a studio display with the Mac Studio for music engineering as well as video editing. I also have an m3 max MacBook Pro with 36 gb ram and 1 Tb ssd for when I’m traveling to clients. And I’ll say from personal experience it’s an absolute powerhouse when it comes to anything studio related whether that be musically or video editing. Think i might have overdone it but it’s nice to know my files won’t be corrupted if i push it harder.

      Sounds like a pretty solid setup! How do you like the studio display?
      I’d probably prefer to be on the side of having too much too if it’s dealing with clients. Always nice to have a little extra juice for anything that might come your way

    Im conflicted between Macbook pro: M4 base or M4 pro chipsets. I am a beginner video/photo editor and i'll work with 4K videos for 10-30 min videos at most. I may tap into basic 3D rendering in blender. I know m4 base is strong but worried i'll regret that extra power once i become more advanced in a couple of years. Won't plan to replace the laptop for 6-7 years at least. Any advice?

      Great question. With 4k videos and some use of Blender I feel like you'd be better off with the M4 pro over the base M4. The base M4 also has a limitation when it comes to external displays where you can only operate two monitors if you have the Mac lid closed otherwise it's a single display. If you plan to keep it for 6-7 years you may run into some issues in the long term, but paying that much more upfront to "future proof" gets you into a lot of diminishing returns for todays price point.
      So to answer the question I feel like the 24GB M4 Pro would be well suited for what you're describing.

    Im thinking about getting the m3 pro with 32 gigs, but i wonder if i should wait for the m4

    • @JustinMiller_Tech
      @JustinMiller_Tech  หลายเดือนก่อน

      3 of the last 4 October’s have had an apple event, so you might not have to wait too long to see if holding out is worth it.
      Possibly even more discounts on M3s too

      @@JustinMiller_Tech will you be making a similar video on the m4s if/when the come out?

    • @JustinMiller_Tech
      @JustinMiller_Tech  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably not too similar if I did an M4 video since a lot of what I mention here would carry over.
      1. Understand your need and establish a budget.
      2. Determine your use
      3. Configure Mac to suite your needs
      4. Prioritize RAM with any leftover budget
      This video is more of a general guide to help those not sure where to start and avoid jumping into just any machine.
      If I make an M4 video though, what would you be most curious about?

    Hey i am a engineering student currently in computer science stream i bought a Macbook Air 15" with M3 Chip for coding . Should i have gone for the M3 Macbook pro ?

    • @JustinMiller_Tech
      @JustinMiller_Tech  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you went with 16 or 24GB of RAM it’s likely going to handle those tasks just fine. Having used it already are you experiencing any issues with memory pressure or running into swap?

    • @AsvinThakur391
      @AsvinThakur391 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JustinMiller_Tech i have 16 gb/ 1 tb one , so swap memory is just 0.

      @JustinMiller_Tech  หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the RAM and SSD you’ve chosen you have a pretty solid configuration. I’d say unless you need that extra 10-20% in sustained performance or the ProMotion display, your MacBook Air is plenty capable!

      No. You made an excellent choice. My new midnight 13" MacBook Air M3 with 24 GB RAM rivals the performance of my late 16" MacBook Pro M2 Ultra with crazy amounts of memory and processing power. I am in the architecture industry and rely heavily on RAM and GPU for complex 3D models, and have experienced no performance issues. No regrets whatsoever!

      @@ryanandrews4500 bro there isn't any M2 Ultra in Macbook pro. It's in Mac Studio. Plz correct that . Your 16" model has M2 pro or M2 max chip? What's after the M2 pro or max ? See it on the machine and then tell

    Dont buy a MacBook Pro until M4, which is coming in less than a month.

      Even if you don‘t want/need a M4 MacBook (Air or Pro), there‘s a good chance the M2/M3 versions will be discounted once the new ones are available.
