    I've had my Epiphone "Greeny" Les Paul now for 2 weeks and I flat out love it. The fit and finish, playability, feel and tone are fabulous. Also the flame maple veneer is stunningly beautiful. The $1499 price tag is in par with the quality of this guitar. It's a keeper for sure.

    It probably doesn't have Kirk's name on it because it's appealing to multiple fans. Peter's fans don't care about Kirk , Kirk's fans don't care about Peter etc .
    That does look like real MOP . And I think people don't realize the wholesale / Retail pricing . No guitar store is going to pay $1000 for it and then only make $50 on it .

      I like how the $20k Gibson Murphy Lab version has “Green, Moore, Hammett” on the case but I guess you have to pay for it. LoL.

    Holy cow. They brought back the open book head stock like they used for the MIJs back in the day. Gibson style bridge is dope, just needs the 2 screw truss rod cover.
    Indian laurel and a veneer is kinda silly for a $1500 guitar though imo. Heck, my Les Paul Classic was $1650 out the door when I got it years ago.
    That being said, I'm very curious to see what they do with other guitars like this going forward.

    • @SayonaraSixString
      @SayonaraSixString  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think all the companies are pushing up the cost range of mid-tier guitars. They are training us to accept higher costs. LTD, Ibanez, EVH, Jackson, etc. have all pushed them up to the $800-$1300 range, and most of the time you don't even get a case! Suddenly "budget" guitars are in the $500-$800 range. Honestly Epiphone recently moving up to the $1300-$1500 range seems like the natural progression unfortunately.

    It's a very nice guitar but for $1500 you would think they would at least give us an actual flamed maple top and not a veneer maple is not that expensive contrary to what some may think. I also think that for that price you should get some extras like a COA, a custom strap and maybe a faux signed Kirk Hammett holding the guitar print. Not a huge deal and I do realize guitar prices are at a premium currently. All that being said it's a really nice looking guitar and looks to be built really well, (probably better QC than Gibson) since Epiphones are built over seas!

    • @SayonaraSixString

I bought an Epiphone IGC Les Paul 61 SG with Gibson pickups with the pink case fur too, around 900.00 no regrets. Peter Green was one of my favorites. I've never had the compulsion to buy a Artist-branded guitar. I did once own a Flying V (for a Michael Schenker kick I had back in the early 80's, but after that I was looking for my own sound).
    I usually buy oddball guitars... I have a cool LP Faded Teaburst Gibson limited run made for Long & McQuade (which I'm selling... I have a 9 guitar limit I keep to)
    Yeah, thats one thing about Trogly is he never plays around with the knobs much. Back in the mid-90's I saw a video of John Sykes playing and realized how much knob twisting some players do while playing and I started realizing there was so much more to getting the sounds dialed in.
    I did have a Guitar/Music Channel but covers always got me in trouble with YT. I think I had more fulfilling success with my (this) hobby channel and other YTubers enquire of my music skills to make jingles for them.

    I am a sucker for Peter Green, so I’m definitely interested. I have the Vintage and the $3200 Gibson version. The Vintage is the only one that actually looks like the original. To me, that makes me cherish it more than the others. I also have an Epiphone 50’s model that looks almost exactly like the guitar that Peter had- before Gary added all of the wear and tear. I’m tempted to put the Greenybucker set in it, and let everyone else overpay for this Epiphone

    • @SayonaraSixString
      @SayonaraSixString  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Vintage Lemon Drop is by far the best Greeny for the buck in my opinion. You get lots of guitar for the money. In fact Vintage brand in general punches way above their weight. If Vintage had a larger presence in the US I believe they would give Epiphone a run for their money. But some folks can’t deal with that pointy cutaway on their Les Pauls.

    I must admit, even with that pricing this guitar is probably gonna fly off the shelves. The fact having a non-JP epiphone with a proper open book head stock alone is huge, and then including the fact it's a Greeny replica WITH the gibson and not epiphone's version. For people who've not been able to afford any of the gibson offerings due to pricing this might be a little more achieveable to purchase and that's kinda big. I'm still waiting on the DG-335 Epiphone version (which I'm guessing it'll be similarly priced), so that's the only reason I wouldn't buy this, but if it weren't for that I'd also be someone asking my local guitar store asking for this.

    • @SayonaraSixString
      @SayonaraSixString  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s interesting to see where Epiphone goes from here. Clearly they’re taking big steps to change that budget brand stigma. They are no longer “Gibson’s version of Squier.”

      @@SayonaraSixString I do think some models they will definitely keep that "Gibson's cheaper bro" vibe for sure, but yea I do think they want to merge the mid-high end models into Epiphone too. My guess is they're want to push the Gibson brand to more of a premium brand than now, and make Epiphone be that "working class" instruments with drops of high end models like these to tease the fans of the Gibson brand who can't necessarily afford new Gibsons.

  • @KevinTheMetalhead
    @KevinTheMetalhead ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I’m intrigued by this in spite of the price. The Gibson headstock, the fact that it seems to have real mother of pearl inlays and the different neck profile all make this structurally different from the Bonamassa Lazarus (as opposed to replaceable features like the pickups and knobs). I’m still not sure if it’s worth the premiums but it makes more sense knowing that it uses real mother of pearl seemingly.
    However, it may still be a better bang for your buck to modify a Lazarus, a 59 in lemon burst or even a Standard 50s in the similar honey burst (especially the latter if you don’t care about specs like a one piece neck and a long neck tenon). Greenybuckers are out of stock but you can always get the Seymour Duncan Green Magic set. I still feel like I’d get an Epi Greeny if I had the money though.

    • @SayonaraSixString
      @SayonaraSixString  ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically they put a hint of "Greeny" at every price level from the Slash AFD Starter Pack to the Sweetwater Lemon Burst Exclusive '50s Standard, to the 1959 GC/MF Exclusive Lemon Burst, to this $1500 guitar, and up to the $3K Gibson Greeny and the $20K Murphy Lab Greeny. I'm cool with my ASFB '59 for $799, with a top that puts these yellow ones to shame. Shit, for $1299 the Adam Jones sig. comes with a chainsaw case and more custom specs than any other Epiphone LP I know of? I ordered a Frank Frazetta "The Berserker" custom art version around this time last year. It's been modified with Gotoh tuners, a Tusq XL nut, and EMG 81/85 pickups since then. They're both excellent guitars for the price, and literally irreplaceable, as neither can be purchased new anymore. Seems the '59 is being rebadged to become whatever the flavor of the year is, while the price has nearly doubled! Ouch!

    No Les Paul and Epiphone the Gibson Les Paul wouldn't even exist today period...Les Paul began construction on what would become the Log in 1939 after befriending Epiphone owner Epi Stathopoulo. Epi gave Les the keys to the company’s New York factory, where Les worked on the design after hours.
    His somewhat crude invention consisted of a four-inch by four-inch block of pine, on which he attached a neck, bridge and pickups. He played the instrument live but people were initially bewildered by its unorthodox appearance. No matter. Les Paul had a clever response.
    The luthier cut an Epiphone hollowbody in two and attached the two halves to either side of his four-by-four-inch slab. It was now essentially a through-neck construction, only with a separate neck piece. But, crucially, it looked not unlike a regular guitar. Its central pine slab also reduced feedback issues and increased sustain, while the guitar also featured a vibrato bridge patented by Doc Kauffman, the Vibrola. This is the Log as we know it.
