As Luther wasn't even a full Marine. (Thanks for putting that in there) and he was all jacked up on chaos Kool Ade. That's why he was able to hang with the greatest duelist in the Imperium. If it was just Luther, no powers. Lion would have spanked him ,....not quickly though. Sar Luther was more than a capable Knight of the Order. So I know he would have held out for awhile. But ultimately would have lost. Hell it wasn't even a physical blow that finally fell Lion. But an immensely powerful psychic attack. Just saying Battle buddy. "FOR THE ALGORITHM!!!!"

Custodes are totaly different story, send enough of them and they take primarch down. Constantin overcoming one make perfect sense
