    "I'm nearing task saturation here.."
    That's the finest piece of airmanship I've seen on this channel. Know the aircraft, but more importantly know thyself.
    I've been past that point to the load shedding stage, it wasn't pretty, and was almost fatal. Lesson learnt.
    Great video, sublime airmanship.

      This is why you Train to understand your own Task Saturation Level.
      If Task Saturation Levels were taught as part of learning to drive a car, we might see fewer car accidents.

      I have learned not to go past my comfort zone...Know your limits you might say...

    • @zero1zero184
      @zero1zero184 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was an envelope expansion sortie. The flight as briefed was well within my limit's. Note "as briefed".
      A FBW partial failure, with an unconventional aircraft and other factors that just kept piling on.
      The aircraft doesn't care about your or my limits, at that point it just wants to kill you.
      Both the above comments assume I had a choice, sometimes the situation chooses for you!

    Greg. Impressive decision on camera to admit you were highly tasked, shifted your priorities to task. Hopefully that will mentor some watching to do the same. Busy environment and a complete reroute makes everything harder, not to mention tighter on fuel. Disappointing they made you write that clearance down when the pdc or cpdlc would have been so much safer for all parties. Well handled sir! Keep em coming.

    ATC here, this is my airspace most of the way. The filed route over SBJ is fine with us, you'll just never get it approved because SBJ is the north/south boundary with us and NY Tracon. They won't accept it due to departures. The reason you go as far west as V499 is because EWR and LGA arrivals cross parallel at 13,000 about 25 miles east of V499 and they need to be at 13,000 for airspace and procedure. Nice video 👊

    The sort of busy short flight that - in UK parlance - is mentally knackering. Well played Greg.

      Actually your suggestion is a good one. I have flown to the New England area a number of times VFR right over the NY airports. As long as you stay of out of the feeders, they will let you do it.

      Yea, figured you could, not sure how wise it would be in a jet if the airspace is busy at the time . . .
      But Greg could, its a matter if he wanted to or not.

      @@Parr4theCourse that means he had to ascend through the clouds to get to a proper altitude. If you have to go through clouds (IMC) you must fly IFR.
