Low power mode is great as I turn mines on when I reach work for my 12 hour shift and I turn it off when I leave to go home it’s really helpful and I don’t have to worry about a charger the whole day

@@jimmyboy1582 only automations I use are my over 120 wallpapers changing randomly every hour for my Lock Screen and Home Screen for ex: Lock Screen at 1:00pm and Home Screen at 1:30 pm and so on throughout the day and night since Apple only gives 50 wallpapers to shuffle from the wallpaper section in settings and my other automation is Speak Text that tells me that my iPhone is fully charged when it’s plugged in and reaches 100%
My 16 pro max battery is best battery I’ve ever had from an iPhone and I’ve had all the pro max phones from 11-16. I don’t use 5g though as 4g gives me 100mbps already and that can do everything I need, 5g not as optimised as 4g yet for most. I also have phone set to 40% brightness unless I’m outside and need more. Also dark mode user here.
Hey Aaron, have you personally noticed or heard of people having problems when sending RCS messages to an android phone? I have been using it since the first beta came out and I’m currently running 18 off of beta now still having the same issue it seems like 50-50 it will either send or fail and I will have to retry. It will fail again, so I almost always have to send it as SMS which then works. it’s just interesting. I thought by this point that bug would be fixed. Curious to know if anybody else is having this issue also when it does fail, I do have very good connectivity sometimes I’ll even be connected to Wi-Fi calling. Thanks

15 Pro Max running 18.0.1, 88% battery health and at 486 cycles after 13 months of use and counting. Using between 200 to 300 percent of battery per day. Running Camera hard every day and Heavy gaming.
16 pro Max user here , I think all these recommendations are really good for small iPhone users, with the pro Max the battery is fenomenal and turning all these features off don't make the phone worth it ,I have most of the features turned on and I still get fenomenal battery life on 16pm , I go every day from about 5am to 9pm and still have about 40% in the tank, the only thing o don't do is game o my phone

14:33 - in recent years, the key sound started to play with a noticeable delay, before it was instantaneous. That's why I ended up disabling the sound, as it makes the keyboard seem more responsive. And it's not just my opinion, I've met similar observations many times. And haptics aren't instantaneous either. Feel what is instantaneous when you enter the passcode on the on-screen keys after turning on your iPhone. It feels like the keys are triggered before you even touch them.
Helpful video Aaron! I already had several of these setting disabled/done as you suggested and doing so I've found my battery life has increased by about 25%. The few I didn't know about I've now changed and hopefully will increase my battery life even more.
Procured the 16 ProMax about a week ago and noticed a similar battery drain from my ProMax. Just applied 90% of your suggestions and expect less drain this week.

The point being I do not want it to continuously think it's too dark where I'm at and starting to become overly smart by brightening the display up when it's no good for me. I feel like the real issue for me is the lack of touchscreen sensitivity with my 16PM when a screen protector is applied, even after the 18.0.1 update . I’m using the one Apple installed because they blamed the issue on my Amazon protector. Well I’m still having touchscreen sensitivity issues. Every tech TH-camr I see doing reviews doesn’t use a case or a screen protector, so I feel the issue is hard to discover. My 13PM with a cheap Amazon protector is super sensitive. People in the forums are still experiencing this issue. Aaron, can you test this out? It would help get apples attention. Thanks
a slower charger will always be better for battery longevity especially since heat is like the under 1 enemy of batteries and fast charging creates more heat. If you do end up using a slow charger the effects are probably minimal at best but thats just my guess. I personally don't really care because battery replacements are pretty cheap these days at least in m opinion Even though I'm lower middle class. a good approach is probably slow charging at night while sleeping but then also have a fast charger laying around during the day for emergency fast charging
Hey! My Apple Notes app is super laggy and keeps crashing. This has been happening since I updated to iPadOS 18 RC on my iPad 10th gen with the Apple Pencil (USB-C). Now i am on 18.0.1 and it is still happening. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Couple days is the truth. My SE3 went to bad to worst with the 18 update and seems to have gotten better after a couple days. Battery at 81% so when I walked into Apple and asked WTF there solution was I need a new battery NOT.
Rip my battery health. Got a battery replacement in March this year and installed iOS 18 with 98%. I watched it drop down a percent or two per day, it’s now down to to 93% a week after installing 😢 (12 pro max)

This problem can occur even after the device has been fully charged and calibrated for some reason. This works for me. Wait until the battery is no more than 70%. It won’t work when the battery is higher. 2. Change the charging optimisation setting to "None" and 100%. 3. Reboot your iphone 4. Plug your phone for about 30 seconds. 5. Unplug your iphone 6. Change the charging optimisation method back to your preferred limit. 7. Charge as usual Just a tip. If you find that you still have well over 30% remaining battery, lower your limit. It’s more efficient, less damaging to the battery and you can realistically get 85%+ health after 600 cycles even with fast charging. Don’t inconvenience yourself if you need that extra battery (for example traveling by air with unreliable access to charging).
Thanks for the video and the info, however, my issue and coming to this video, is that when I listen to Apple Podcasts, by phone heats up and battery drain is intensified... I have an iPhone 15Pro with 91% battery health. This is whether it is with my AirPods or with my Shokz or just using the phone's speakers. Wasn't a problem with iOS 17!

Yes, they do because they have to activate the microphone and other features and keep them active. So in general, they will use more power than if they are turned off. But they are super helpful for those that need them.

Agreed. I also say this at the end of the video as well. You shouldn’t be turning off a ton of features, but there are a few things that you may want to customize.
completely agree. I used to turn everything off but theres no point in spending all this money then not using these features. my phone still last me the whole day plus I can always fast charge since theres always a charger around me and also battery replacements are very cheap these days
i Don't Know why your phone usually has such low Screen on time , my 15 pro max reaches 8-10h everyday , i usually leave background app refresh off and it helps alot ! There is a bug with location , either Find My or Homescreen drain battery overnight , and if Location is off then it dont drain!

That makes no difference as far as battery. Life is concerned I personally don’t use it because it makes the weight of the phone more like paper. Since I want to see what the actual color is for accuracy when making TH-cam thumbnails and other things, I turn it off.
I have an automation that turns on Low Power Mode at 00:00 en turns it back off at 06:00. Who needs apps refreshing in the background when they are asleep? If it doesn't harm the battery of course.

If you just leave all the settings alone, the battery is absolutely fine and better than just about any phone out there in tests. However, if you want even more battery than that, then you can optimize it further.
Aaron, my 15+ does not have an "Always on Display" option. The only option I can ever see under "Rise to Wake" is Display Zoom (which I love due to my aged eyes). Funny, my 15+ says "Mobile Service" rather than Cellular, but the rest of the stuff I found alright.
True tone doesn’t use any power but changes the color of the whites on the display to match paper. I turn it off just because I want my screen to be color accurate

Yes, it will charge to 100% sometimes as needed by the overall battery management system. However, if you’re using optimized battery charging, it takes up to 14 days for that to work and you have to have location settings enabled for that to work.
On my iPhone 15 Pro Max set to 90% battery charge limit, I get through a day easy. The max I have seen before going to sleep late at night is over six hours, usually between five and six hours with still plenty of battery
On 18.1 beta 6, Siri wasn’t working. I had to connect to WiFi and then it worked an hour later. Apparently, extra stuff had to download. Weird that Apple didn’t include it in the actual update download.
I have to disagree about disabling system services under location settings. I have found that by disabling everything except the most essential options is saving a lot of battery life. The same thing is true on my iPad.
Those system services are used to provide features such as optimized battery, charging and many others. They do very little for the battery and Apple recommends not turning them off.

On the other hand David from the “Payette Forward” channel recommends turning off all of them accept find my IPhone, SOS, the compass, and Share My Location because they drain battery fast. I had that problem and since implementing his recommendations for optimizing the phone for battery life, the issue went away for me.
Yes, there is. You can see it on Apple’s website where they tell you that it’s designed for 20% or lower. Also, that is how they introduce the feature.

After ios 18 my battery life get 99 after 95 cycles all because of ios 18…but now ios18.0.1 is better actually
It has nothing to do with the update. Having 99% battery health after 95 full charge cycles is normal.

Any 12 pro max battery you get obviously isn’t brand new as the phone is quite old. That’s why your battery health is trash.

That makes no difference as far as battery. Life is concerned I personally don’t use it because it makes the weight of the phone more like paper. Since I want to see what the actual color is for accuracy when making TH-cam thumbnails and other things, I turn it off.
I have an automation that turns on Low Power Mode at 00:00 en turns it back off at 06:00. Who needs apps refreshing in the background when they are asleep? If it doesn't harm the battery of course.

I find it crazy how find my iPhone is constantly pulling my location. And I am just using my phone normally, not moving. Every 5-10 seconds
It could be someone looking at your location, has access to it

Imagine spending £1500 on a phone for the battery to be so bad you have to turn all of its features off.
If you just leave all the settings alone, the battery is absolutely fine and better than just about any phone out there in tests. However, if you want even more battery than that, then you can optimize it further.
@@zollotech currently using the 15 pro max and my battery is awful. iOS 17.6 was the best for battery by far.
Aaron, my 15+ does not have an "Always on Display" option. The only option I can ever see under "Rise to Wake" is Display Zoom (which I love due to my aged eyes).
Funny, my 15+ says "Mobile Service" rather than Cellular, but the rest of the stuff I found alright.

5G in general uses more power. LTE is less power hungry also from what I understand 5G stand on, actually uses more power than regular 5G.

True tone doesn’t use any power but changes the color of the whites on the display to match paper. I turn it off just because I want my screen to be color accurate

Apparently the AirPods Pro 1 got a software update that flew under everyone’s radar. I just noticed today. It has auto-adjusting nc that I’ve heard people talking about with AirPods Pro 2. It’s kind of weird.

5G SA should use less battery being on than off because it’s not using 5g and lte
Switching between LTE and 5G would be more battery efficient because LTE uses less power. So it’s not using both at the same time. It’s just switching between whichever signal is best.

Yes, it will charge to 100% sometimes as needed by the overall battery management system. However, if you’re using optimized battery charging, it takes up to 14 days for that to work and you have to have location settings enabled for that to work.

On my iPhone 15 Pro Max set to 90% battery charge limit, I get through a day easy. The max I have seen before going to sleep late at night is over six hours, usually between five and six hours with still plenty of battery

Yes they did.
On 18.1 beta 6, Siri wasn’t working. I had to connect to WiFi and then it worked an hour later. Apparently, extra stuff had to download. Weird that Apple didn’t include it in the actual update download.

I have to disagree about disabling system services under location settings. I have found that by disabling everything except the most essential options is saving a lot of battery life. The same thing is true on my iPad.
Those system services are used to provide features such as optimized battery, charging and many others. They do very little for the battery and Apple recommends not turning them off.

On the other hand David from the “Payette Forward” channel recommends turning off all of them accept find my IPhone, SOS, the compass, and Share My Location because they drain battery fast. I had that problem and since implementing his recommendations for optimizing the phone for battery life, the issue went away for me.
If you want to save power disabling all iPhone 16 pro features, buy a 12 or 13!!

Yes, there is. You can see it on Apple’s website where they tell you that it’s designed for 20% or lower. Also, that is how they introduce the feature.
