- Last week, I asked you to send me assumptions that you have about me from watching my TH-cam videos. After being inundated with material, here are my responses to some of those assumptions.

I LOVE TARAH’S SIDE COMMENTARY!!!
I do NOT care for her. She is abrasive. Where he is interesting & funny she is intrusive & demanding. She ruins the vibe he sets for the show. 💯% truth.
@Andrea Amrein, I adore Tarah, (I hoped I spelled her name correctly). They make an adorable couple and it seems she appreciates a dry sense of humor.
I assume that if you left it home, then it's really more of a UK-lele.
God, that's good.
@@LostinthePond Quality Alan Partridge quote there.
No!
Bravo 👏
Booooooo. Take my updoot and shame on you.
I like when your wife participates in your videos. Y'all make a good team.
Your wife is the best Greek chorus ever. I hope that she chimes in during all your videos :).
You do have quite a bit of knowledge that you freely share with everyone and we are appreciative of. Thank you.
We are all dying Laurence. Some of us are dying quickly, some of us are dying slowly, some of us will be greatly missed, and some of us aren't Judy Dench.
Or Betty White
Love your sunny outlook :-)
Some of us aren't Dench at all.
we're not getting out of this life alive
Judi*
Lawrence's emotions or lack thereof (depending on the situation, of course): Lawrence's English, that should explain it all.
I assume you are as funny off camera as on. I love your kitty.
That's not nice. I'm sure he's funny off camera
@drewpamon
That’s what they said (
You're not "street" - you're cul-de-sac! 🤣
Loved the imput from the wife! More please, how about a q&a with her about life with you!
Tarah is great
Q and A would be awsome.
I'm over 6 foot as well. I joined a therapy group where we discuss how to respond to silly questions from the masses of vertically challenged, "So, howze the weather up there?" The correct answer is to spit in their face and tell them, "It's raining!"
Aww ... your kitty-cat loves you! And it's obviously mutual. That's so sweet!
well the cat likes you I'm convinced you must be ok.
I'm watching this a year later, like the blue glasses better, sorry. You two are an adorable couple!
Just the fact that your cat apparently loves you tells me all I need to know ❤️☮️
I'm definitely street...while wearing a shirt proclaiming he's got his brunch on.
Yo, Portland OR hood here. You talkin shit about brunch?!?
Droll. That's the word that comes to mind. Not stoic, but definitely droll. In a positive way... your dry humor. It's provided much comic relief during the past year. My kids and I love to sit down in the evening and watch a couple of your videos.
I love your affectionate kitty!!
Love when Tarah is on video, even with just voice, with you.
Hahaha, I am CRYING over here, Laurence. Thank you for addressing my assumptions. It was brilliant, and hilarious!! 😂😂😂 You always have me in stitches. Not the weird Shawn Mendes way... but the thanks for the laughs kinda way.
The stitches he puts ME in are causing the medical bills to pile up. You're lucky!
The cute kitty cat kind of stole the show, on this one!!!!
I knew it! Solid as a rock! Thank you for that. My kids think I'm famous now. Love ya man!
Indeed he did. So cute. Love how he chills there, pressed up against his leg. Wish mine did that more often.
Cat always steals the show. Needs its own channel.
"I can understand perfectly how the report of my illness got about, I have even heard on good authority that I was dead. [A cousin] was ill in London two or three weeks ago, but is well now. The report of my illness grew out of his illness. The report of my death was an exaggeration." -- Mark Twain, London, May 1897
Thanks mate. I have never read this in context👍
I love it when I find other people who love The Hitchhiker's Guide!
Me too!
@@LostinthePond Do you have a favorite book of the series? Have you heard the radio version? Can I assume you've seen the BBC tv series? How did you feel about the movie? (Alan Rickman NAILED IT! Imho)
It was actually the first book I ever read outside of the 'required reading' at school (well... other than comic books). And I just adore all of them.
He is one Frood who knows where his towel's at.
@@ChrisPage68 😄👍A hoopy frood for sure!
Love that your cat loves you. Not to take away from your video. I am paying attention to it; I just still seem to get distracted that your cat love you an want you attention and you acknowledge your pet.
After much lurking I am subscribing to you because I watch often enough.
DUDE! We love you. What a brave fantastic thing you do, its deadpan and hilarity that I love.
Your delivery always cracks me up. Your kitty is so beautiful.
My only assumption...You MUST have done "standup" to be able to "deliver" the way you do. Just keep doin...what you're doin.
I'll get round to stand-up at some point.
Shall we let them in on a secret? The British are _the_ masters of dark dry humor with a dead pan delivery. You do your countrymen proud!
@@LostinthePond Start with Sit-down and work your way up.
Her voice came loud and out of nowhere!! Startled the bejesus out of me!! 😆
To be fair I don’t really know many British people (other than celebrities which obviously I don’t know in person) but I will say you are one of my favorites. Much love and respect from North Carolina!
8:37 omg she sang the song.. I remember that song.. "the freckle-faced redhaired girl..."
Cat: I assume you can't take a hint. Pet me, damnit!
You have earned my respect with the Douglas Adams alone. Three of my favorite writers are all British, Adams, Pratchett(RIP to both of them, we miss you) and Gaiman.
Your cat is absolutely gorgeous! ❤
I had a cat that looks exactly like yours. Most affectionate cat I ever had. Poor thing had to be put down due to an injury. You are fortunate to have such a lovely cat.
This one had a twin brother, who - sadly - we had to euthanize last year. He is much missed.
I read science and economics books and magazines in the bathroom, fiction in bed at night. It helps to get my mind off the reality track so I can go to sleep.
We're ALL dying but we procrastinators take our time about it.
Love your sunny outlook
We share two things in common, Laurence: a love of Douglas Adams and a "Feline Shadow" who cannot resist interjecting themselves as we work from home. It is apparent that gorgeous gray kitty claims you as their own and the subtlety of your bond implies a very warm and happy home life. I greatly enjoy your videos and your lovely wife's cameos/unseen influences are just delightful. Thanks for your channel.
PS: I may be one of the few Americans who not only is aware of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy originally was broadcast on BBC radio in the late 1970's. I even have a copy of the scripts in book form on a shelf here somewhere. :)
That cat is gorgeous !
I assume an upcoming video with Laurence playing the ukulele and serenading his cat, and Tara, too, of course.
You're practically a normal bloke. In the USA the term "normal" takes in a LOT of territory.
You've traveled the USA MORE than the average U.S. citizen. I'll bet on it.
Maybe you ought to do "reverse" Lost in the Pond videos, featuring your sweetheart or others. I remember when as an American I attended upper sixth at a school in Cheshire 1967 - 1968 between high school and university. One of my school mates, who was from Lancastershire, spoke his dialect so thickly that I only understood him half the time for the whole year. Still, his message was clear: I was incapable of logical thought since I was from the colonies and was unable to speak English properly. Likewise a scary time trying to thumb my way north from Birmingham. I ended up in a seedy pub in Wolverhampton to ask for directions. I could not understand anything anyone was saying, which pissed off the locals. Finally after buying some pints and getting directions written on doilies, I escaped with my life.
I had to relearn how to spell & write. My professors couldn't read my cursive writing. It was quite a blow to my ego because I'd actually won awards for penmanship. They were actually fascinated that I could write the entire lowercase alphabet without lifting my pen.
Flo Rida we used to have a nurse in one of the administration positions were I work who had beautiful to look at penmanship. Not at all sloppy. Unfortunately, despite my being of an age where cursive (or longhand) writing was taught and expected in grade school, I struggled to read her writing.
You and me are the same on the Adam Levine issue
I think this guy might be from England
🤔
Yes Boi
Nah his wife is from England, he’s from the US
England, Wisconsin
No way
And Queen Anne's dead. (How about a show about British sayings like that which are almost unknown in America?)
I just saw this video, and I've no idea if you get alerts/go back to read new comments from old videos, but. I LOVE when Tarah says you randomly enter a room, make a funny noise, and then leave. LoL I can totally picture that, and I love that image. My brother will all straight-faced make a real loud bird noise & not react at all while everyone is looking around for the bird. Awesomeness. 😂👍
"You'd say I'm a softy?" 😂 'Bout spit out my iced tea. 😂😂😂
That was an impressive Alan Partridge impression!
Your cat is adorable, and you are funny!
Tarah: he has trouble showing his emotions
Lawrence: visibly reacts in classic brit fashion followed by "that's not true".
Lol
That was adorable.
Bravo you two.
awww kitty loves you so much.
My deep love for languages and accents brought me here to your channel and videos (a fan of yours from Iran). You and your wife are mega cute. One of my assumptions is you're a creative person.
LOL I have that exact same Doug Adams compilation which I purchased in Britain in the early 90's. Good stuff actually. The follow-up may exist.
Just came across this one, and your wife is totally right and thats why I like watching your videos and interacting on Twitter, your who appear to be.
Colin Baker is underrated. Possibly the most underrated Doctor of all. I've heard his Big Finish adventures, and he's great in those. Especially alongside Evelyn. She's easily my favorite Sixth Doctor companion. You have to remember that Colin had the BBC controller gunning for him the whole time. Six was really killed by an evil monster named Michael Grade.
I've even learned to love that coat in all its eye burning glory.
You look like an American with a really funny accent. Love your channel and commentary thumbs up stay Awsome.
What does an American supposed to look like? Lol. In Europe we usually guess American tourists by their fashion. Americans are comfortable wearing house clothes outside. They don't usually put much effort on their daily outfits.
But other than that they don't look that different from Europeans.
Erica from Norway I suspect that (fashion comment) is more or less exactly what Robert meant by “looks like an American”
Especially when contrasted with an interview I once read with the actor Hugh Laurie. He was being asked about a “love scene”, or, more accurately, a shortly-just-after-the-love scene where his character House was seen nearly naked in bed. He said something to the effect of “I’m British, we are born fully dressed, sometimes in three piece suits”
Your cat adores you. So sweet.
Your Cat is adorable😼
I think your Awesome ! And take the best and leave the rest !
Love your furry sidekick.
Keep rocking the red, white, and blue 🇬🇧🇺🇲
I assume that you cannot make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, you use the wrong bread, wrong peanut butter & lack milk to drink.
😂 Douglas Adams! Yes, that was the first thing that popped into my head when you read that assumption.
I was distracted by your cute cat wanting fusses for most of the video. So adorable.
My assumption is that because you play the ukelele, you have more than once tried, and failed, to master the unicycle.
Oh, and making weird noises is just what us guys do. We love to add real-time sound effects to life.
Being a "softie" means being good or kind of heart. The roughest toughest person can be a softie for example, kids, animals, elderly, etc.
YOU are a middle class bloke with the best sense of humour (notice the spelling). Ha, I have always wanted to use that word BLOKE ! Absolutely Fabulous ! 😇
Not sure, but I most certainly would not call him a middle class bloke.
I like what I see on camera ~ you crack me up ;) Cheers for what you both are doing! Aloha!
Kitty says, “No more talking. Give more love to me!”
Hehe!
I actually watched the cat through your whole video, so riveting.
More videos with your cat please 😻 ❤
When he said he was street all I heard was the Sesame Street theme song in my mind 🤣
Huge fan! I'm guessing that you had broadcast narration training in the UK, and possibly work experience. Your use of the Queen's English would indicate that you're university educated; one has picked up on - only occasionally - the most trivial and endearing departures from what one would expect to hear from a graduate of "Oxbridge." (So one tends to assume one is not the latter, although, of course, one cannot say for certain.)
"Sometimes you come into a room, make a noise and leave again." I laughed til l cried!🤣 (l also laughed while typing that quote!)
For your Si-Fi reading I recommend anything by Ray Bradbury. My particular favourites are "Dandillion Wine" & "Something Wicked This Way Comes". Not the common spaceman/futurama content.
Also, not Si-Fi but for great fun, Richard Armour's "Twisted Tales From Shakespeare".
Enjoying you so much & will be checking into Tarah's channel. I'm old and way outside the loop. l've no idea what "AF" stands for...😶
Y’all seem like great people!
Lawrence, I'm so jealous that you have a photo of yourself with Amy Pond!
Yikes! We have the same degrees. Explains why I'm poor. Hope you are faring better 😉.
Covid 19 watching. Great Alan Partridge. I was thinking M for Marvin..
My assumption is that you are related to David Mitchell (from Mitchell and Webb) because you sound just like him. I love your videos - I envy you, living in the US; I would love to have your choice of shops in the US (especially supermarkets) Keep up the great work. Tara, you look great, I love your vintage style.
I loved hearing Tara sing the Pippi Longstocking song.
I have dated a few British boys. They seem to like American girls. I have been told we are much for straight forward and social with them. We converse easily as well. That is coming from the British men I have dated in the past.
...you and Tiny Tim. You're great!
Because you have done videos about your health, I do sometime confused a disheveled appearance for signs of a terminal illness.
life is the process of dying; so we are all literally dying, everyday.
I love your cat!
What a small world.I subscribed to the londonist last year say hello to Matt.
Tom Baker!!...And Romana!!
Love the cat 👍
Given the cat chose the British flag and the right side of you makes me think he thinks he's superior over you and even more stoic 😂
Hilarious!! One of your best!! I love your kitty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW Douglas Adams is also my favorite fiction author. Hitchhiker’s Guide and Dirk Gently. Their great!
Have you ever eaten Barbecue??? I live in Kansas City, but I grew up in Memphis. The other two main BBQ are Texas and Carolina.
I knew it! Somehow, I just knew it! Maybe it's because you remind me of Arthur Dent. (He's a hero of mine.) Greetings from "Outside The Asylum'', you see the screen name, I presume. I will always have my omnibus edition of the Hitchhiker's Guide, no matter what else I lose in life, that and my towel. (I have lots of towels. I definitely know where my towel is, at all times.)
MY Favorite books (subjects) are: King Arthur, Robin Hood, Victorian Parlour poetry, Bartlett's familiar quotations, Shakespeare, Ivanhoe, I got a whole long list, too numerous to list here.
Thanks for answering my assumption.
Lancaster Uni - yay - I went there!
Ukulele is pronounced as ooh-kooh-leh-leh. Just my two cents as a native Hawaiian. This was a treat to get to know you. Assumptions can be quite dangerous, and in your case it went morbid. Glad you’re alive and still with us! Don’t die just yet, okay?
You have not yet heard him play it. You might actually want him to mispronounce "ukelele" so that you can pretend it's an entirely different instrument than that of your ancestors.
Flo Rida That good eh?? 🎻🎸🎹
Douglas Adams is my favorite author. I like his Dirk Gently novels the best. You should check out books by Jasper Fforde.
Love your cat, plus, seriously your definitely not street.
Missed the call for assumptions, which is ok because I feel mine is more of a deduction. I deduce you work in the print field as a writer and perhaps also as an editor. For some reason the magazine genre or book publishing comes to mind.
