Betty was one of the best players on the show. She was very competitive when it came to games

George is right easy to get the clue on the second clue. Alan remained great and diplomatic.
Not always the case. Many get the Password on the first clue; it all depends on imaginative thinking which George seems to lack. He was a grump.
Another great episode and first rate editing once again
I was three months old at the time of this showing. Maybe my mom was changing my diaper, cleaning up after me, feeding me...etc while she watched.

People should know when a word is two words.
There is SOOOO much tension between Betty and George through this week of episodes, and Alan is trying to keep things from getting more tense... Both Betty and Alan paid George huge compliments for his play, so I wonder why the aggression.
You’re right about the tension, I was aware of it too. Both Allen and Betty tried to appease to George's ego because he was a sore loser.

Alan Ludden, you sly dog! At 1:33, he says of George Grizzard's play (and very quickly, I might add), "I recommend it hardly, don't you, Betty?"

Allen Ludden married Margaret McGloin on October 11, 1943. She died of cancer on October 30, 1961. They had a son, David, and two daughters, Martha and Sarah. Betty White and Allen met in 1961 on the set of his game show, Password, when she appeared as a guest. He proposed to Betty White at least twice before she accepted. In 1963, the couple tied the knot two years after meeting. Betty and Allen were married for 18 years until Ludden passed away from stomach cancer in 1981. Betty never remarried. When Anderson Cooper asked White in 2011 why she never remarried, she replied, "I had the love of my life. If you've had the best, who needs the rest?"
well she ought to be pretty good, she attends all of his shows, and they repeat the same words over and over, so she ought to have a good handle on what clues to give and also to guess.
@@bevn362No need for anyone to remarry. You can live a single life. She knew he was not to be beat. And i think Betty liked being single.She could do it and seemed to like that freedom though she missed Allen. Being with the wrong person would have made her miss him even more.

George was frustrated that he was getting his butt kicked by the lovely Betty White. No shame in that...he wasn't the first or the last.
There is another game where George beats Betty the whole game through. And Betty did not seem too happy.

Why did Password reduce the winner's prize from $250 to $100?
me thinks it's because they went to having them play 2 rounds instead of one giving them the opportunity to earn $700. Just my guess however.
I just can't get over the fact the first woman was asked "what does your husband do?" invalidating her hobbies, likes or anything else that might be interesting about her.
Welcome to 1967. Also -- the producers coordinated that kind of banter with the contestants.

I saw another episode where they asked the woman this and I was shocked. Another time a beautiful contestant walked out and the men audibly said “Ooo, wow!” When asked what she did, she replied that she was a graduate student getting her Ph.D. and Allen replied, “Oh, she’s going to be a PRETTY doctor!” 🙄

George Grizzard did an excellent job of concealing his homosexuality from the public. He was wise enough to know it was unnecessary to reveal it. Modern day actors should take a lesson from him. The public doesn't NEED to know your sexual orientation. We watch your acting because you are a good actor. Everyone is entitled to a private life.

I didn't know that. He DID do a good job of concealing it.
In that era actors who were gay couldn’t come ‘out’, so George wasn’t concealing his sexuality. He simply didn’t flaunt it. Having said that I know of gay men who do not present as such (passing for straight) and go under the radar.
In America you have the right to talk about it or keep it to yourself. You prefer America was more like Iran or Syria?

George was not a good clue giver. Copied Betty’s clue a few times.
George was an excellent player. Sometimes when they run out of clues all players may do this if the word is going nowhere.
