I'm obsessed with the moment where Kate realizes that Norbert is looking at her. So simply powerful with new emotion. I could honestly watch the video over and over and pick new things I love about it each time. It would be a dream to actually see this show live.
Did this show as my first High School show after moving from my old high school and wow, I love Big Fish, easily one of the most heartwarming and beautiful stories of our time.
THIS SHOW IS OMG AMAZING!! I saw it two days ago expecting it to be ok. I was proven so wrong!! It was absolutely amazing. It was charming, cute, funny, sad, and everything in between. The scenery was extremely spectacular and the actors/ actresses were just as amazing!! I definitely recommend this to everyone! It is an amazing heartwarming show that all should see!
No, Norbert Leo Butz plays both young and old; just puts on a hat to cover his bald spot. The younger actor is his son trying to disclose the truth in his stories. It's a wonderful show. Saw it yesterday. The effects, costuming, and staging is SPECTACULAR>
I saw the closing show in Chicago, and it was the most charming show I've seen in years. Butz is phenomenal, and Baldwin astounding. I have to go to New York and see it again.
I am going to put my life on hold to go see this in NY. This is a great song! I've already fallen in love with this show and I've only heard a couple of the songs! I love Norbert!!
I just saw Big Fish at a local theatre, and my community theatre is doing it as the teen show next year!! i cant wait to audition, to sing this on stage would be amazing
Luna Pearl ah I know the feeling! I’m in Big Fish right now and I’m in 8th grade so naturally the seniors and above got the leads! (I auditioned for the Witch but got Shepherd who has a speaking role 😎) good luck!
Congratulations! I auditioned for Sandra and got Ensemble 😅 But literally zero freshmen or sophomores are in speaking roles, it’s 100% juniors and seniors soooo 🤷🏻♀️
This was our school play, if you wouldn’t expect 11-16 year olds to be too good actors then you are very mislead the show was incredible everything from props costumes singing choreography backdrops.Just Wow
Just in case you are not being sarcastic.....This whole song takes place in a matter of seconds. We are hearing/seeing their collective inner monologues. No one is singing this song at all; it is in their heads DURING her circus song.
You're calling a Grammy and Tony nominee "untalented?" Yeah, they just give any musical a Broadway run. And Sister Act was a Tony nominee in 5 categories, including Best Musical. Catch Me if You Can was nominated four times and Norbert Leo Butz won best actor. Let's not forget The Lion King, which received 11 nominations and won Best Musical along with 5 other awards (and that was a movie, based on Hamlet, which was a play, just fyi). Please don't argue things you don't at least research.
As rarely happens, I found the movie of BRIDGES so much better than the book, which was kind of icky-sweet. I hope the musical turns out well. It'd be nice for JRB to have a hit on Broadway. Interested also in hearing responses to LEAVING LAS VEGAS. Anyway, love me some Norbert & Kate!
As of now, we should expect to see this, Aladdin, Bridges of Madison County, maybe First Date or If/Then at the Tonys next year. We'll see about Rocky.
I'm sorry to tell you but if it closed this early on Broadway there's definitely not going to be any tour or West End production. This show will never see the light of day again.
Ryan Laskey That is depressing. It had a short run, yes, but the show is charming, and I think it was just a lack of word of mouth. A short run doesn't mean it won't go over seas.
Agree with everything you said except for Legally Blonde. That was a pretty decent show. It had a fun book and the music was good too. Plus it had Laura Bell Bundy who was wonderful.
Have you seen it yet? If you have, then I disagree, I personally think it adds quite a bit to the emotion of the show and plot. Sure, they could have just had a moment of them noticing each other, but I really liked this song in the show! But you have your opinion! This is just one theatre person to another! :) If you haven't seen the show yet, then I do need to say that the musical changed some of the "tall tale" from the book/movie. I think the song fits.
What Kate sings @2:22 right after "That boy is staring is it me he sees? I can't be sure If he is staring, should I try to please... ???" I can't figure out that section of the lyrics!
Same goes for Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, Newsies, Mary Poppins, Kinky Boots, Once, The Producers, Billy Elliot, Nine, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Christmas Story, Shrek, Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, even My Fair Lady, Oliver!, and The King & I were semi-based on films.
Did you actually see all those shows, Nick? Just wondering. I'm so tired of hearing this line of argument. Many movies, if not most, are adapted from books, but I have yet to hear one person complain about that. Playwrights today can't even come up with original ideas, so they "adapt" Chekhov, Ibsen et al, and are praised for it. Musicals from movies is fine with me, if they are well done.
It makes way more sense and is way more believable for Edward and Sandra to be played by middle-aged actors because the characters age from 20s-60s in the musical... It would be laughable to see a 20-something actor play Edward on his deathbed
I still don't get why "catch me if you can" wasn't a hit. I loved it. just saw "big fish". enjoyed it-but-something about it was just a bit off. confused as to what it wanted to be maybe.
The moment when he's singing and he pulls his arm back, and it shakes and then holds his chest. I can't even. You feel the breath being taken away!
I'm obsessed with the moment where Kate realizes that Norbert is looking at her. So simply powerful with new emotion. I could honestly watch the video over and over and pick new things I love about it each time. It would be a dream to actually see this show live.
My high school did this musical and it was so good! (Everyone was crying at the end though, lol)
John Burroughs in Burbank is doing it next Spring.
My favorite thing about this is that it's not a big musical. It's just story telling. Awesome awesome.
I absolutely love the last harmony!
a perfect fourth
It really kills me that I couldn't see it live.... It really does...
I feel the same. Wish there was a recording of entire show. They are so perfect in these roles.
Did this show as my first High School show after moving from my old high school and wow, I love Big Fish, easily one of the most heartwarming and beautiful stories of our time.
Literally sobbing. I love this song
Kills me that some other musicals are more popular than this one. Nothing against them, but come on. This is a literal masterpiece.
Yeah.. I'm glad I found this song. The whole album soundtracks was amazing. 😢
Omg Sandra's voice is absolutely beautiful!! I love this musical; so heartwarming.
She is so beautiful.
I could watch this scene over and over. Such a beautiful song. I love watching the girls move in pantomime while he’s singing his solo. ❤
I could just keep watching this clip over and over and over.
No, Norbert Leo Butz plays both young and old; just puts on a hat to cover his bald spot. The younger actor is his son trying to disclose the truth in his stories. It's a wonderful show. Saw it yesterday. The effects, costuming, and staging is SPECTACULAR>
Saw this on broadway and sobbed like a baby by the end of the show. Loved it!
I sat in my dark room and cried when I discovered this song for myself.
I did too!! I’d heard the cast recording, but seeing it performed just brought me to tears. It’s hauntingly beautiful.
someone cast jeremy jordan as edward bloom
This song really gives the same vibe as Never Planned on You from Newsies
No no. Norbert Leo butz is freakin fantastic in this role. I saw it live and he blew the roof off
OMG YESSS
Please someone don’t do that
yesss please
Really good!, it must be replaced in Broadway. Norbert Leo, as usual, perfect!
I was lucky enough to see the show 3 times. I already miss it D:
I just saw Big Fish at a local theatre, and my community theatre is doing it as the teen show next year!! i cant wait to audition, to sing this on stage would be amazing
Kate Baldwin is so fabulous. I could listen to her forever!!!
I love Norbie. loved him ever since I heard The Last 5 yrs.
KILLS me that its closing. a true work of art. :)
I know i loved it such a shame its closing
Jessica Stier I wish I could see it again bc it was amazing
You can't say Lippa is untalented. The Wild Party flows marvelously.
So glad I got to see this amazing show with my daughter in September! Thank you, Thank you Big Fish!!
ok i love the popcorn prop that looks like the popcorn is falling mid-air......oh yeah and the singing is good too:)
i dont know why im crying!!!!!!!!!!
this scene gets meevery time
i know why i am.. it's amazinggggg!
This show was simply stunning. This musical will more than likely get the TONY for 2014!
This show pretty much cements my September NYC visit.
I love the film!!!! This looks amazing!
Josie Watson the musical is incredible
I love the film, I know I would have loved the musical. So so gutted it's closing, wish it'd come to the West End
This clip is from Big Fish in Chicago, NOT on Broadway. It won't open in NYC until Sept. 2.
Still love this 😍
I wish I could see this musical again before it closes.
I have chills all over my body
I love this so very much
i love this musical!!!!
Beautiful! Would love to see this show.
Omgggg this song is so beautiful I cry when I hear it 😪
Big Fish is one of my favorite movies!
I wish this was still on broadway! I didn’t have the chance to see it on broadway :( I’m currently in it right now though, so I guess that counts haha
This is so pretty. I can't wait to see this!
My life will stop if I go to NY and see it!!!
I love the song, but something in coreography and acting doesn't feel right IMHO.
This moment should have been a lot more striking and memorable.
i see what you mean... if there were only some light effects, that could have changed a lot, because the song already provides a magical atmosphere. ❥
I saw another version(korean) yesterday and stage design & choreography were much better
Aw man, I think it’s great
I don't believe him. Time has stopped and yet his hand is in his pocket half the song.
TEA I just got high and listed to this song with my eyes closed and imagined so much better
Me watching this knowing the Edward bloom of my school musical still doesn't know this song when there is three days left before we proforme
I love Norbert
I can't wait to see it!
1:47 I’m doing this part for an audition for Sandra, wish me luck! I’ll need it cuz I’m a freshman so I’m gonna be one of the youngest there 😅
Luna Pearl ah I know the feeling!
Luna Pearl yes I know the feeling! All of our leads are 17 and above
Luna Pearl did you get a specific part in ensemble, ex. USO girl, wedding guest etc..?
We haven’t had those parts determined yet. Hopefully I did 🤞
I have auditions for this in 3 days and I have to use this song. Fear is still upon me.
One of my favorite movies too! Good place in the movie for a song
I miss this show we did it last year :(
Its probably just because of norbert that it sounds like wicked lol to me his voice instantly makes me think of wicked.
did someone say dylan saunders and kim whelan
I was supposed to see the show this upcoming Wednesda.y :(
Just realized- This is the Chicago Pre-Broadway version.
This was our school play, if you wouldn’t expect 11-16 year olds to be too good actors then you are very mislead the show was incredible everything from props costumes singing choreography backdrops.Just Wow
Does this mean there’s a full pro shot somewhere or was this just a publicity video?
Thanks!
Just in case you are not being sarcastic.....This whole song takes place in a matter of seconds. We are hearing/seeing their collective inner monologues. No one is singing this song at all; it is in their heads DURING her circus song.
The music a kind of Wicked-like feel
I love Him

someone cast michael park (dear evan hansen) as edward bloom :)
💙
I wish Norbert would record a solo album
I just noticed the blonde Lamb from Alabama didn’t start singing until the very end of her bit.😂😂😂
As of now, we should expect to see this, Aladdin, Bridges of Madison County, maybe First Date or If/Then at the Tonys next year. We'll see about Rocky.
I'm gutted its closing, but that just means you can get over the pond to the UK quicker, i know it will work over here, welcome to the West End
I'm sorry to tell you but if it closed this early on Broadway there's definitely not going to be any tour or West End production.
This show will never see the light of day again.
Ryan Laskey
That is depressing. It had a short run, yes, but the show is charming, and I think it was just a lack of word of mouth. A short run doesn't mean it won't go over seas.
I till remember when they did this Musical noone want to do this Musical, just a team of dreamer want to do it, and they did it
I can't wai

Wow. ⍤

does anyone know the context of this? like when this comes in the show? i haven't seen it yet.
Jessica Stier 6 years ago, and I’m assuming you’ve seen it! This scene comes in during the circus scene in act 1. It’s after Edward meets Karl.
I have to sing Sandra’s part for an audition because we’re doing big fish at my school
What Kate sings @2:22 right after "That boy is staring is it me he sees? I can't be sure
If he is staring, should I try to please... ???" I can't figure out that section of the lyrics!
Or be demure. Basically, should I try and look good or be shy.
my school is doing this musical and I am so p u m p e d for try outs
This is adorable, I just saw this looking through comments.
"Should I try to please or be demure"
Same goes for Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, Newsies, Mary Poppins, Kinky Boots, Once, The Producers, Billy Elliot, Nine, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Christmas Story, Shrek, Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, even My Fair Lady, Oliver!, and The King & I were semi-based on films.
the musical version of soulmate aus
Did you actually see all those shows, Nick? Just wondering. I'm so tired of hearing this line of argument. Sister Act was good, so was Legally Blonde & Catch Me If You Can!
Hmmm.... I wish I were more impressed with this....
Onstage, it will only be one actor.
Seems like Nick's implying that Norbert is first class talent, along with others involved in the show, but that Andrew Lippa is not.
Should have cast a younger version of Sandra and Edward...
Marta Myers I agree my friends high school did big fish
Marta Myers I agree
It makes way more sense and is way more believable for Edward and Sandra to be played by middle-aged actors because the characters age from 20s-60s in the musical... It would be laughable to see a 20-something actor play Edward on his deathbed
Emily Leekha my high school is putting on big fish and we have two different Edwards and three different Will's lol
they are old because the actor have to "grow old" so you have to cast someone who can play the older ages and the end of the musical
Female solo 1:46
ZA WARUDO!
Anyone here from the Bloody Roar Retrospective by Scxcr?
I wonder if Tim burton had anything to do with this musical
I still don't get why "catch me if you can" wasn't a hit. I loved it. just saw "big fish". enjoyed it-but-something about it was just a bit off. confused as to what it wanted to be maybe.
Why are they moving? I thought time stopped....
I own the movie but it's not the same
I c
the london version was so much better
This musical would be better if Ewan Mcgregor was starring in it.
Bridges of Madison County is based more off the book than the Clint Eastwood film.
