Its fun coming back to this years later, remembering the hell our drama director put us through teaching us the original Alabama Stomp, and we still loved doing it
Just got cast as Edward in my school's production of this! Had never heard of it before but am falling more in love with it by the day. Norbert is such an inspiration.
What if I told you You could change the world With just one thought What if I told you You could be king Anything you desired, boy Anything on a plate All within your power to create I know somewhere in the Darkness There's a story meant for me Where I always know exactly what to say I know somewhere some surprising ending Waits for me to tell it my own way Be the hero of your story if you can Be the champion in the fight Not just the man Don't depend on other people To put paper next to pen Be the hero of your story, boy, and then You can rise to be the hero once again
My theater company just did this show back in May and on the last show when all the fish fly on the stage, one of our coordinators pranked up by throwing a whole BARRACUDA which almost hit our fisherman in the head. We were all trying so hard to to come unglued on stage. This was one of my favorite experiences
good luck bro! we did big fish last year, it was really challenging emotionally and difficult parting with our seniors but just like the show itself, the process was magical and bittersweet. i have faith in you dawg‼️
Dude...PLEASE get me a copy of this, I can only find the pre-broadway tryout and I am obsessed with learning about this show. I will literally pay you money
I was in this show my senior year and I played the witch, it was definitely the best one I had ever been apart of, and my favorite. I would die for a full obc bootleg. I want to see it so badly
Do you still have the pre-Broadway run? I’m curious about what changed from the original run to the Broadway run. If you’re still looking for the full Broadway run, I can hook you up in exchange.
You wouldn't happen to know where I can get a full recording of this show, would you? The only Broadway recording I know of was taken off of TH-cam. Thanks!

He’s the BEST
Thank you so much for sharing this! I didn’t get to see it on Broadway and it’s one of my favorite movies. Always reminds me of my dad.
This version's Alabama Stomp is a lot more complicated than the one my school is doing.
Babydaisylover this is broadway dude
I think our school is doing the same choreo, I'm not in the dance since for us were just having the guys do it so I don't know but I'm pretty sure.
Actually were not, but its still pretty confusing
Haha well the one we did was a little simpler than this but most of us still never learned it. I did but I had to cuz I was in the front for it
that poor kid at the end 😂😂😂
Just imagine those sore thighs from practicing so much
Oh trust me. I'm a technician for this show right now, and I can tell you that almost all the actors have bruised thighs.
I learned this choreography at workshop and I have bruises the size of quarters on my thighs!!
I did the show, THE BRUISES WERE REDONCULUS
@ 6:00 imagine if he just let go of the kid mud swing.

Do you have the full video of the show? I'm in it right now, and I would love to have the show to develop my character a little more before we open.
Also would love to see whole thing. Did you ever find a complete vid?
Huh. Norbert Leo Butz talking about meeting a witch & how the experience changed his life for good? Why does that sound familiar?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
4:34 i loved that part when we did ours
