I love how you have a "$100" truck on the table with $300+ in upgrade parts....I think we know how Redcat plans to make their money back 😂. But this thing looks really sweet right out of the box, definitely gonna grab one!
Just had to watch the video again, I'm excited! One thing that i really appreciate is the approach & departure angles. Other trucks, such as the gladiator have some serious overhang. I'm also not into hard bodies with a wheel sticking off the back, i know it's fun for some people to have a bunch of realistic details, but for me that's not a good balance of performance and scale. I've heard from a few people that Redcat has quality issues, so we will have to see what we see with this one.
This is pretty exciting! Another player in the mini realm with a good rtr! It's in my cart, trying to justify it in my mind. Any of their upgrades that I should get right off the bat? Thinking front brass portal covers, though they ain't cheap. Would like to see it next to the EVO PRO.
The portal covers add some good weight for sure. I think it’ll really gain some performance with underdrive to the rear! Not sure the exact date those will be available but I’ll have some asap! lol
Enjoy your reviews thank you. You ask your viewers for ideas for your show. I notice you review mostly crawlers. My question to you is, do you think a running list of the top 10 in 1/10, 1/18, 1/24 scale would be helpful.
When I first heard of this I figured it was another huge 1/18 but seeing it next to the others has me excited for this thing. That steering angle too! Nice looking beefy axles also has me excited, dang redcat killed it
My daughters birthday is next month, and she wants to get into RC. 8yrs old. I just bought two through your link, the red and the blue. Looks good! Thank you for the review.
@@2fmrcif at all possible that you could talk to RedCat... A pinched body would be awesome. Maybe a honcho rollcage. An Athos-level chassis upgrade. And some LCG options to drop this thing down. 👍 Carry on. 😊
Great video content with good enthusiasm. I enjoyed watching and hearing your opinion on it. I have the Axial SCX24 and am seriously considering adding this one to my collection. At $100 for the intro price you can't beat it.
So I am heavily invested in 1/24. I've resisted 1/18 for the past couple of years and refused to buy into that scale as I didn't want another scale to start stocking up on parts as well but the dang market is REALLY making it hard for me to keep resisting. What is everyone's thoughts? Am I doomed to start buting 1/18 size products now??
Agree. And I'm not even that far into the SCX24 Kool-aid bowl. I really love the small size of the 1/24th. But I agree, 1/18th seems to be where things are settling in. I suppose it gives a bit more room for fitting stuff in more easily. At least this and the Evo pro are close to the SCX24 size, unlike the TRX 4M and others. So at least they'll run on courses people have build for their SCX's.
Most of these 1/18s share the same wheels/tires and electronics as the 1/24s. Besides that not a ton of stuff crosses on them anyways so I say may as well add another scale to the collection 😆
I felt the same way, and also a bit feeling like my unfinished projects are doomed now for sure. Damn. Well, they're not too much different in size, and many shared parts, so no worries on that.
@@themountain59 even at $15-30 depending on the set you go with and the time to install them. It’s nice that it comes with them out of the box for $99! You really don’t like Redcat huh? 😆
I got one recently, $120. I have the fms fcx24, Atlas 6x6, hilux and k10 trucks...all which cost more and the throttle control/feel of the ascent 18 is better than all the others and really impressive for a $120 rtr. The gearing is correct for most crawling and trail driving as well. The only thing I wish they did differently was have the center of the axles be the same, like on bigger crawlers...because the rx has a 3rd channel and #3 on the transmitter is a 3 position switch...so if you could make the rear axle a steering axle, 4ws wouldn't be hard to do. As it sits, you'd need a whole front axle and they don't sell complete axles yet
Great seeing Redcat coming in hot with a micro. Would have been even better if they offered their products outside the American continent. Even Furitek has a reseller in my country, The Netherlands.
Hey Matt, great video.. the most excited i have seen you! Can you ask Redcat if they will start selling in the UK? They would kill it here with a distributor 👍

I honestly haven’t ran that system but from what I’ve seen it would probably struggle with the higher gearing of this truck and the ring and pinion gears. Never know though! Worth a shot for sure
I moved mine some and tried to lower it as much as I could but you run into the chassis hitting the servo like I mentioned. I just cut the chassis off on my red one to play with getting it lower lol. Hopefully I’ll have a mod video up fairly soon and have it lowered a bit!

used a pack. Pulled it out checked the battery and was 3.5v per cell so all good. Battery wasn’t hot. Sat it down ran upstairs to get something to eat and my mother in law was screaming fire. Ran down and was like wtf. Got her out ran upstairs and got kids and wife out. Ran inside got the animals out. Ran back inside turned heat off turned attic fan on ran downstairs and started to put fire out. Was so Smokey from ceiling to floor. Ran into a door half opened and got a concussion. Continued to fight the fire and saved the house. Was in the icu burn unit on breathing tube and induced coma for 4 days. I’m out now but sucks losing all my hobby stuff and couple rooms in my house. Crawling is my stress reliever and could deff use that now. Been stressful last week but family is safe and I’m in recovery. That’s how it went down and yea everyone is safe
Dang Matt , that makes 4 or 5 models I would love to buy from Redcat but can't because they don't have a UK distributor ! Shipping, taxes and customs when ordering internationally make them too uneconomical sadly !

Hard to beat chinese manufacturing. I want a 1/10 Ascent. This looks good. I've really enjoyed modding my scx24 with homemade stuff and it kills lines.
It's nice and inexpensive but... Redcat is very very hard to find on the European market and as I live in Europe, I will not be able to get it. Just like for the 1/10, I couldn't get one so I took an rc ecto element instead and for the 1/18 well, I'm going to stay with traxxas...
Would have loved to buy one. Al ready added one in the basket. However buying and importing one to the Netherlands means paying almost double the price. Without any upgrades. Already paying more than 150 dollars more for the 1/10 scale version I will have to pass on this one. used a pack.
Very nice!! Just ordered one and great video
Really appreciate it! Hope you love it!
Dang it! After scoring a pretty mint shelf queen 6s Mojave for $200 I told my wife I wouldn`t get anything else for a bit. A few days is a bit right? I`m going with it, I ordered the red one lol
Haha! I know the feeling!
Had to order the red to match my 1/10 Ascent, I also had enough rewards to grab the metal transmission gears for free.
Sweet! Can’t beat that!
Making my rounds lol. Just watched sbg’s review,rc driver online now 2FMrc! They all just popped up. Definitely getting one. Awesome vid, break down & running as always!!
Did all them love it as much as Matt did?
Really appreciate ya stopping in! Hope you enjoyed it lol
Ordered mine already!
Hope you love it!
@2fmrc I'm sure I will. Everything you recommend turns out exactly how you say. You are very knowledgeable, and I am an avid follower of your channel!!!
Hard to beat chinese manufacturing. I want a 1/10 Ascent. This looks good. I've really enjoyed modding my scx24 with homemade stuff and it kills lines.
No way that’s crazy
It's nice and inexpensive but...
Redcat is very very hard to find on the European market and as I live in Europe, I will not be able to get it.
Just like for the 1/10, I couldn't get one so I took an rc ecto element instead and for the 1/18 well, I'm going to stay with traxxas...
Can you please make them sell there product in europe. I want the ascent. And also it’s baby brother😢
Would have loved to buy one. Al ready added one in the basket.
However buying and importing one to the Netherlands means paying almost double the price. Without any upgrades.
Already paying more than 150 dollars more for the 1/10 scale version I will have to pass on this one.
You guys over there are very lucky with all the choice, good prizes and regularly good offers for the hobby.
Over here choices are way less and prizes always at least 20% higher
Sold!
I dont think ive ever agreed 💯 about something someone said during a review 😊
Man I was just about to order the k10… but with this being $100 I think ima order one of these here first
If it’s 2FM approved, it’s probably worth it, Matt says what he thinks about any rc if it’s crap he will tell you no doubt lol
I always try my best! My taste don’t always fit eveyone else’s but I try lol
@@2fmrc so far with all your review I’ve strongly agreed or slightly agreed but yet to disagree lol 👍🏻
@@therealcletusrc glad to hear it!
Yep. If they have the brass coconut's and confidence to send it to Matt 5 months ahead of time, that speaks volumes!!!
Im buying one lol. Great video matt!
Thanks man!
After watching, Ive come to the conclusion that the esc is getting taken out and immediately throw it in the trash, The screech makes my eye twitch.
Yeah it drove my buddy nuts lol. For some reason it don’t bother me as bad as the loud fax machine sound on some of them lol
Sweet!
Ok, I just purchased this rig. What is wrong with me?
Holy cow, they sent these out to absolutely everyone, haha.
Looks like it!
@@2fmrc Mine must be lost in the post ;)
I just couldn't pass it up, I have a red one ordered!
Bought one :)
Nice! Hope you love it!
