    Hours of filming and shooting, angles of sight researched for the right way to look at this production, HOURS folks! Branding and marketing always means a cost. If you can't afford it, keep shooting whatever you're working on currently until you can afford to step up your game! That's how the rest of us had to do it and still do it! Whiners, exit stage left. This system looks fantastic and Fstoppers has done it again with one of the best in the business. Peter, Mike and now Brian! Boom!

      I can't afford this at the moment but I think criticizing their pricing is a bit immoral, this is a free-market product. Additionally, they certainly have years of experience and how they value the education they offer is absolutely up to them.

    • @michelle6386
      @michelle6386 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It’s an incredibly fair price considering the quality/depth. Most good photography masterclasses are in that range. Also, im like 90% sure it’s targeted towards people in the industry aka people working in studios. If you’re just getting started with product/doing it for fun there are a lot of free tutorials that are much better resources for you! I’m not trying to be elitist, it’s just that this masterclass uses stuff like strobes and if you’re just a dude in your house you likely don’t have them and can’t follow the tutorial.

    It totally amazes me the negative comments about purchasing this tutorial due to the price, Fstoppers gives you so much free stuff to learn from on TH-cam, they need to make some money for the time and effort they put into such a full scale tutorial. If you are wanting to get into product photography, how long do you think its going to take you to get to this standard, this tutorial gives you immediate access to developing your skills that would take you ages to learn. Brian has invested years and a lot of money developing his knowledge and his skills. If you are serious about photography $299 is not expensive it has value that you can use to start or take your business to the next level. If I was wanting to get into product photography I would find a way to buy the course because I know I can learn from this course and value add to the business. How much do you spend on other things or even other photography items. "Lets be honest its not that the course is expensive, its just that you cant afford it or dont see the true value in it".

      You have to understand and empathize with those who cannot afford it. That you're privileged don't mean others are like you.. $300 is huge for some folks living abroad. I might be able to afford it but I am not going to type some uppity condescending comment like yours further demoralizing the unpriveleged.. this is the reason activists groups here fueled by the blue party seem to be pushing an agenda we all don't want

    I was interested until I saw the cost of the download. $299.00 is a fair bit of change but to be fair to Fstoppers, they offer 13 HOURS of tutorials. I have interest in product photography only because it's one of the last facets of photography of which I would like to know more. However, my forte is more portrait photography and I feel my money would be better spent perfecting that.
    Maybe later, guys, I will invest in these tutorials but not quite now.

    Great quality content, keep going like that. Id like to ask a question. Can i be able to keep the tutorial videos and watch them multiple times or are they viewable only once? The price is a bit much for students like me, dont get me wrong the tutorial WORTHS 300 bucks for 13 hours of training, maybe you could do some discounts for students, that would be awesome.

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, with any purchase from our store, you will receive the full video files that you can sync to different devices and watch anytime. If you ever lose your files, you can email us for new ones at any time. As for student discounts, we do not offer them specifically but we do have sales from time to time. Honestly, the information you will learn from our tutorials for $300 is worth it's weight in gold compared to the amount of money spent on formal education through a university. That's not to undermine your schooling but I know how many thousands of dollars a single class can cost and I doubt any one class will teach as many practical lessons as one of these tutorials.

    It's funny watching him do focus stacking manually. He should really check out the G9. He can do fully automated focus stacking (bracketed focusing) with that. And when he is not doing focus stacking, he can be doing 80MP stills with the pixel shift sensor.

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty cool what the G9 can do but it's a bit silly to completely switch systems for a single feature like that. Plus from a tutorial stand point, we need to show people how to do it manually since few will have that feature in their cameras.

    • @porschepanamera92
      @porschepanamera92 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Martin Peterdamm I'm interedted to know what you mean by that. How can you render a real world scene? Or are you referring to the companies that let someone shoot their products instead of rendering images using a 3D model of the product? I guess for the latter, not every product has a specific 3D model to go along the real product.

    • @BrianRodgersJr
      @BrianRodgersJr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It really depends on the industry and the client. It's really a mix of both right now. That said, each have their own place in the market, and a lot of clients prefer that their product images are "real" (for lack of a better term) as they are a more accurate representation of their product. This is happening a lot in the automotive industry, but there's still a place for professional photographers. Take for example Easton Chang who does a phenomenal job in the automotive industry and continues to get hired because he's an artist with a unique perspective on automotive photography.

    • @Looking_Around
      @Looking_Around 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      totally agre.

    • @TasteofTaboo
      @TasteofTaboo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes with the 3d model and render this. normally a 3D model is already finished from the contruction of the product. you can build a complete studio with real world physical based lightning or just use a hdri image or whatever you can imaging. one really huge benefit, if the client/artdirector or whoever just wanna have a perspective 5 cm to the left or rotate the model x degrees, - no problem - just move camera or rotate and render. also you can extract all possible stuff for compositing. totally sweat. I started with this 3D and became later a photographer - and for this kind of hero shoots in reality you would go in 98% of cases a vray rendering instead of a photoshooting unless the agency has to burn money.
      a nice example

    • @itos191
      @itos191 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      woah that's an awesome example! might not be as fun as the act of photographing it, depending on youre style of workflow, but the fact that you can get such realism, and awesome angles out of 3D rendering is incredible. Not to mention the fact that you could also render a video ad

      Those ProFoto lights do not belong to me. I personally use Paul C Buff Einsteins in my studio. I used the ProFotos in this tutorial because that's what I had available to me. In the tutorial I use a variety of light sources. I start with continuous light by using inexpensive CFL bulbs that you can get from any hardware store, then I move into inexpensive speedlites, and eventually into studio strobes. Believe me, you don't need ProFoto strobes to create great images. You just have to know how to craft your light. Cheers

    I get it! That price is like whoa! Just like those college courses. Yet the thought is I bought a camera for five times that amount with the thought I am going to make money. It is an investment. Its like when you want to shoot a wedding and the client is low balling to get you to take say $300 to shoot the entire 8 hour wedding. LOL! Yeah! I can hear those groans of hell no! I am not going to shoot your wedding, do all the work to the images, and so on just to end up with only $300 bucks.
    Let's say you spent the $300
    Booked a gig for $100
    Booked another for $75
    And so on until your clients paid for the course. Because in the end that is the process of learning a new skill and then adding into your skill set. Then building a base of clients. Then raising your rates. I was VERY fortunate to have worked with a commercial photographer and get paid learning tricks and tips to shoot table top photography.
    People will either invest in their future
    or
    not
    Bitch about the price. Wait for something that is cheaper. Meanwhile someone is eating your steak lunch. Simple as that.
    Fstoppers is an option I didn't have back in the day. Yet I was lucky to have a skilled commercial food/product photographer to help me get killer results. And that was not with Photoshop too~

      Oh that's just the start, there's hundreds more dollars worth of stuff you need for your computer alone if you want to follow these tutorials properly, they kinda left that bit out in the video here.

    Tempted but just can't pull the trigger in lieu of spending the same money on light mods and other basics. I purchased one of the WAMA courses because it's just so hard to find material of that quality on that subject and I already had a decent kit, but while I get that this tutorial is a cut above the rest there isn't the same widespread lack of quality information on this type of photography as there is on working with architecture and real estate. Maybe someday.

      Is it? Have you looked at the cost of in person workshops and courses at a university? We've always felt like $300 for this sort of knowledge that you can play over and over was almost under priced.

      how is this expensive? knowledge is something u have with you forever,especially when this knowledge directly makes you money in the future I think they're charging too little

      Not to mention that Brian is a world class photographer. 13 hours of essentially 1 on 1 with a master. I wish I had 300 to spend. Just the post processing techniques are worth it.

    is this course for beginners? ok. but why you use so much high-end gear, which costs thousands of dollars? you really think, that beginner will by such a gear for tutorial? you must learn with cheap gear.

    $299 divided by 13 hours = $23 an hour to have one of the best commercial photographers teach you his tricks + insider info?...that's more than a fair price.
    Why does everyone think that everything should be free or almost free to them? If this series is important to you...you will find the $$$ to spend on it...if not...you won't
    It comes down to valuing experts time, energy & production costs to create teaching curriculum that may actually help you possibly earn more money as a photographer.

      You hit the nail on the head. People want the shiny things that they find cool to be cheap or free. I think prices like this do a good job of separating who wants to play around to make something cool, and those that want to invest in education.

      Because not everyone can afford It at first.. I think $299 is really highly expensive and remember there're people abroad who would love to take it..remember the world don't revolve around you and your pocket.. so understand no everyone is as privileged as you

      I think that undermines the skill behind crafting a great concept, styling, cropping, and paying attention to detail but you are right to a point. A pro needs to be a master at Photoshop to make it in this industry for sure.

    Just like most of the comments, I think this all looks great but that is just to much money. I'm not sure that the skill level looking for a tutorial like this is willing to drop that much cash on tutorials, regardless of the quality, which I'm sure is good here, but none the less.
