This is a nice trip back in time. Born in '57 and a family at the end of our block had Borgward sedans like this, black for the father, white for the mom. . I was probably 4 then but remember all this.
A wonderful car- the design was far ahead of other german cars that time- Herr Borgward was a genius. I borrowed the car many times from my father, I liked it very much. If I could spare about 30 tsd € I'd buy it.
I know where a late 50's model is in rawlins wyoming. All of the glass is there, The whole powertrain is there and all the badging and trim. Been sitting for a few decades. The rear end went out in the early 60's and no parts were available. It is for sale but i have to talk to the woman's daughter in a few weeks. They also have a packard limo with a supercharged straight 8.
My boyfriend in the1970s bought me a borgward isabella A 1960 that had been setting out in this field for years. Its was off white with red and white interior it took me everywhere i wanted to go. i would put 50 cents of gas in and I could drive from one end of The Dalles Oregon to the other great car loved it. Hope to find another one soon looking
My father had one sitting in his garage for 5 years. He couldn't find parts for it in the USA. He then donated it to the local high school auto mechanics class and they repaired it and had it working.
🔴🇩🇪♥️🇩🇪 I had the pleasure of doing a restoration on a Borgward automobile when I lived in California, what an absolutely precision made automobile, and like most cars from that era it was rotted out from the rockers up, ♦️♦️♦️‼️
It is not kW·h (energy or work), it is kW (power), because Watt is the SI unit. Horse power is a pre-SI unit, outdated. DW, please continue using SI units.
What a beautiful machine. Elegant simplicity.

I always loved these. Extremely rare in the UK.
There were a number of these beauties in Australia, I appreciated them even as a kid, without knowing about its heritage
Would have liked to see the engine compartment.
My dad had an Isabella coupé when he was dating my mother. He talked about the car a lot. I never saw one in real life.
Borgward may have said "for all I care", but the fact is his wife's name was Isabel, so I think he did care :)
His wife's name was Elisabeth.
My first car was a 1959 Coupe. It was past its prime, but fun to drive. I got it in 1966 for $95.00.

Can DW stop using Kilowatt hours, just say cubic inch or litre. Unless your discussing electric cars its no point in it!
