Thanks for this great comparison. It matches my experiences, with both of them. Maybe the Genelecs are slightly cleaner, but the difference is so small and depends on the source. My humble opinion. I had a blind test over one hour at my dealer with my wife. We listened to all genres of music. Sometimes it was the Genelecs, sometimes the „Hummeln“. The two speakers are the best monitors on the market. I myself influenced by my wife decided to the KH called „Bumblebees“ in German „Hummel" from the Neumann KH = Klein + Hummel. That was the company before Neumann acquired It was only because these were then a little bit cheaper from my dealer of choice.I really can't say the Genelecs or the Hummeln are better or worse? Please do a new review with the answer corrected by the DSP! It is precisely the added value of this monitor and that is why you pay more than for an 8020 !.
Why not get the 8320 though? As far as I've heard, KH80's calibration software is a pain to set up, while Genelec's GLM software is more user friendly and has improved so much over the years.
Listening from my Neumann KH 80's and headphones. The difference is very subtle and I can only tell in vocals, where KH 80 is a tad more solid and confident, whereas 8020D is a bit hollow and shouty. I suspect the nature of recording via microphones and playback via TH-cam may not be super high fidelity. I also like Neumann's reputation and design better. Also KH 80 is fully DSP so will be extremely useful to adjust to the room. 8020D is US$70 more expensive so the Neumann wins hands down in my book.
Interesting, as the Neumann is about €50 more than the Genelec where I'm from, and that difference was even bigger when I bought my 8020D's. Love em to bits by the way

Unless I'm mistaken, I hear again the Genelec treble problem, giving a slightly harsher, harder, more pronounced, treble. Back in the days I switched from 8240 DSPs to MEG RL906 and was amazed how much smoother and natural treble can sound like. I had 5x Genelec 8240 for surround sound. It all ended in RL922K....all gone.....

Looking at the freq. response curve there is a 470Hz hump on both speakers and I notice on the Presonus E7 what may cause these humps? Possibly room environment, if you use measuring device with 4ms gated response the hump will disappear.
After having set of Genelec 8030A nearly 20 years in living room, not at all. They are very balanced and play whatever the original track has. Of course, poorly authored music will sound poorly authored.
Genelec for more accuracy Neumann for more enjoyment If you're wealthy you'd get both and switch on Genelecs to test accuracy very rarely. I'd rather die than listen to those for hours.
The two are very good!!, to me, only the first sight, the Neumann is more transparent, more clear, and Genelic with more mids, but it's impossible to chose only one, who get the money buy this 2 and the Adam, very good!!!,
While they sound very very close, i have no doubt the Neumanns would destroy the Genelecs when calibrated. Because of this, the real comparison should be calibrated KH80s and calibrated 8320s.

Krk v4s4, v6s4, v8s4 anytime soon?
Have Krk v4s4 would be really nice to hear them compared to neumann kh80. V series different world to rokit
swan m300 vs m300mk2 which is better.tnx.
How is the hiss noise of two? Which is more silent?
Generic are my dream speaker and some wall mounted Urei
Microphone for speakers mono only.
Therefore stereo width and stereo depth cannot be compared. A test is therefore complete Quark.
Damn, they're virtually identical!
In my book, not virtually identical, but only a cut-hair difference!
neumann kh 80 dsp vs adam t5v ?
From this, Naumanns are definitely closer to the original track and simply sound more precise
Do you get ear fatigue from the Genelecs?
After having set of Genelec 8030A nearly 20 years in living room, not at all. They are very balanced and play whatever the original track has. Of course, poorly authored music will sound poorly authored.
Genelec > Neumann. But not by much.
Yes. I like dem KH80s.
Both sound quite similar. The Neumann has slightly better mids to my ears.
does the DSP make a huge difference ?
the dsp is used to keep activated the calibration profil inside the monitors. So if you dont use the neemann's calibration you don't need the dsp.
Genelec for more accuracy
Neumann for more enjoyment
If you're wealthy you'd get both and switch on Genelecs to test accuracy very rarely. I'd rather die than listen to those for hours.
genelec!!!!!!!!!!!
SAME BUT DIFFERENT
I think u are NOT really switch them
They are so similar, the difference will not make any mix audibly better.
Genelec is bit harsh sometimes. Neumann KH80 sounded more natural
They’re so close
i need it
The two are very good!!, to me, only the first sight, the Neumann is more transparent, more clear, and Genelic with more mids, but it's impossible to chose only one, who get the money buy this 2 and the Adam, very good!!!,
Can u also compare neumann with Adam Audio A5X, Adam Audio T5V, Focal CMS 50, Focal Shape 50, Kali LP-6, PreSonus Eris E5 XT, Tannoy Gold 5 & Tannoy Reveal 502 ?
Adam Audio A5X
Adam Audio T5V
Focal CMS 50
Focal Shape 50
Kali LP-6
PreSonus Eris E5 XT
Tannoy Gold 5
Tannoy Reveal 502
Neumann KH 80 win
Very similar to each other
absolutely Genelec
Out of both, the KH80s sound so much cleaner and transparent.
Neumann wins, Genelec has a bit hyped highs and a tad scooped mids.
While they sound very very close, i have no doubt the Neumanns would destroy the Genelecs when calibrated.
Because of this, the real comparison should be calibrated KH80s and calibrated 8320s.
Just use sonarworks, every speaker can calibrated
@@JohnWell4131 Sonarworks is a PITA if you use headphones together wiith your speakers / multiple pairs of speakers, and if you switch your sources.
@@lukapogo You just switch presets in seconds.
Kh80 Neumann su sonido más detallado !! Saludos latinos
Genelec have a hollow tone to me a color of sound I don’t like it’s hollow
kh are always a little bit softer than genelec, very little.
i cannot tell
Close - real close -
NEUMAN WINS
see no differencr
I like xbox sound too :))
