      @@palestar828 They don't actually do the same thing. As a very oily person, the DM product is practically a miracle product for oil control and the Elf is just average. But if you want smoothing, get the Elf and save the money. I'm so in love with the DM product if they charged $100 for it I'd pay it in a heartbeat because nothing has ever done what it does for me.

    The ELF putty primer does come in a matte version as well that might have a better starting point. Maybe we'll get lucky and ELF will make a tinted version too, they dupe everything else!😍😍😍

    So I have a really oily skin, and the Danessa Myricks has actually allowed me to start using to dewy products without looking sweaty, I actually look Dewy. I’m into this whole dewy look now and for the first time ever I’m actually enjoying it. Here’s the crazy thing I’ve already gone through one translucent, I have two shades in 5&7 and I have major pan in both of them, and during the VIP sale I reordered the translucent. I have never in my life loved and used a complexion product as much as I use this. The translucent one works with all of my other foundations which is why I think I went through it so fast and I also love it just on its own.

      Same! I reviewed DM's Blur Balm a while ago and can't live without it (I think bc of the unique Upsalite ingredient). It blurs, controls my oils, and Shade 1 provides the perfect amount of light coverage. I use it with a damp sponge to set my skin in place of a powder. I don't even think $36 is that much with the amount of product you get but always love affordable options. Anyway I can't live without it!

    I have tried all the Elf primers (and many other brands) and none control my oils while also providing coverage and blurring my skin like the DM Balm Powder. BUT- I prefer setting my skin with a damp sponge with this product and it's been an absolute game changer since reviewing it. It works with any foundation or on it's own for me. I'm sticking with DM but if someone else can get the blur/coverage and oil control with Elf's that's awesome 🥰 I am jealous haha

    I don't have money to spend on high end products (the prices are outrageous on most lol) so I really appreciate these dupe videos. Also, I recently tried the elf poreless putty primer again and I forgot how much I absolutely loved it. Made my skin flawless and my foundation look so much better on my dry skin!! I really like the fact that you talk about drugstore make up on your channel. Please never stop making affordable drugstore videos because I don't know about everyone else, but I'm struggling financially. Don't know if you noticed, but the prices on just about EVERYTHING have went up drastically. So hearing others talk positively about drugstore products/dupes really helps out. Drugstore/affordable make up can be just as good as high end make up. You shouldn't need to basically sell your soul to be able to enjoy wearing make up. Thanks for showing affordable make up and showing it the same love/attention as the expensive stuff.

    • @Letty4
      @Letty4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not. It doesn't work like the Elf Putty Primer on me, either. The Yummy Balm is literally the only product that controls my oils. Nothing else has ever done that for even 4 hours, much less all day! The Elf primer might control my oils for 2 hours. 3, if I'm lucky. Yummy Balm... 10 hours, easy. But if you just want a smoothing primer, then Elf putty or any other smoothing primer is good.

      @DanielleNicoleMakeup ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Letty4 same. Completely agree. Because of the Upsalite ingredient it is not comparable imo. It may blur but the DM actually controls my oils, blurs the skin, and provides coverage. I use it as a tinted foundation and set my skin with a damp sponge

    Oh! Oh! Oh! I have the Elf poreless putty primer!! 😃🥳😊 but mine is sooo dry......the same for the eyeshadow primer. Maybe because it isn't a brand readily available in my country, and it might have been old stock....so I hardly use it.......but maybe I could add some squalene into it and use it. I have super dry skin urgh 😖 so adding as much hydration and moisture as possible is always a good thing for me.

    I bought the DM but didn’t like it bc it was too light. I returned it bc Sephora 30 day policy. At the moment I have too many foundations but maybe I’ll try again in the summer with a darker color. Thanks for sharing Zabrena!

    I haven't tried the Danessa Myricks because with shipping it would easily cost me double the original price but I have the Elf putty primer. It's a good product but a little too dewy for my liking so I set it with loose powder and then I put over my foundation, in this way it last longer. Maybe I should try the matte one?

    Great video! I am wondering if there are any dupe products for the Mally Beauty face defender. That product sounds so interesting, but I don’t love the price. Could these primers be used similarly?

    You could do a full shien dupes video the afterglow palette is a dupe for Natasha denona gold palette and brick lane palette is a dupe of the metropolis palette and the birthday skin pigment hiding version as a dupe for this D.M. primer and it does have pigment to it so closer dupe than the elf one there are lots of dupes and the quality of both those palettes Is amazing too the bricklane palette has a few extra shades than the metropolis one but does have copies of all the shades too you just get a few Extra bonus shade the afterglow is an exact copy of the gold palette though have a wonderful day

    I cannot use the elf poreless putty primer because it has dimethicone in it. I breakout from silicones if they are in the primer or skin care pieces. I have to use a non-silicone primer but anything applied after the primer is fine to have silicone in for me. I have dry more mature skin for reference.

    I've seen people use DM for primer, foundation, and bronzer. I would use it for those things. I don't think it's a dupe in that regard bc the only ones getting coverage with ELF are light skinned people and most of us are not.

    Hello, I really like this video. Can you maybe tell me what shade you use of the DM one? I'm trying to figure out what shade would work best for me since I can only get these products online in my country.

    Some people are using the DM product as foundation and some as a primer. So I am confused as to what the DM product is for. If it is just a primer, the elf looks good against it.

      I mainly wear it as foundation, but occasionally wear as a primer if I want more coverage. I think the magic of Yummy Balm is for oil control. If you want serious oil control (you'll figure out how much you need to use for that result), get Yummy and it'll blow your mind! If you want a smoothing primer, get Elf putty primer.

    The shien birthday skin primer that you loved so much now have a version that covers pigmentation and I bought that one and it hides my hyperpigmentation and sunspots it's probably not great for anyone medium or darker skin tones I'm very pale like zabrena and can only just get away with not wearing foundation over the top but you can use it just to hide pigmentation it's a very thin formula so would not feel like an extra layer under foundation or make you look or feel cakey and super cheap I have broken veins varacous veins on my face too it covers those Also

      @BlankCanvasMakeup ปีที่แล้ว

      For my dark skin, I have to use very little of the birthday skin primer and rub in well. It works just fine under foundation. If it came in multiple shades, I'd be able to wear it on its own

    I tried the DM and it’s like a sticky paste, but I don’t see that it’s matte in any way. It’s more like a primer, and there’s no color payoff. It was like applying a Vaseline like paste. I don’t see how it’s a powder.
