    If you want to avoid expensive shipping due to us living in Australia, here is a little work around on Amazon (can do the same on ebay using www.ebay.com.au) which some people have used and made it a lot more affordable. We just wanted to share this with those who this may concern.
    1. Go to top right of Amazon homepage where it has your country flag and language showing
    2. Click change country/region on dropdown menu
    3. Change country to Australia
    4. Amazon page will change all products to those in Australian warehouses. Put items in cart, send to S&P PO box address as you normally would. Should be minimal shipping because its shipping from within Australia

    Well yes, the poison (mercury) was meant to kill her right after she went into avatar trans, but Zaheer wanted to kill her as soon as possible anyway, and saw no fight coming. The point is that Korra was able to ward off the poison and her symptoms to go after Zaheer for killing her father. It still amazes me how Korra was able to fight in her condition while the poison affected her organs and weakened her in general. That is why, for me, she is one of the best characters in the series. Regardless of the obstacle, Korra does not give up without fighting.

      She's a beautifully written character. Conceptualized as the opposite of Aang, she feels really unique and alive. And it's amazing how you can tell that she's making progress in her personal journey to be a wise avatar throughout the series. Aang is great and I love TLA but he was - even though very playful - already wise for a 12 year old kid. Korra startet as a very easily irritable hothead but not only learned to be patient with herself and others, she got really responsible and started her whole spiritual journey while she had to fight bad guys. Some characters in LoK might not be as fleshed out but the writers really did an amazing job with her as the protagonist.

    the poison didn't actually make her go into the avatar state, it was slowly killing her. but the avatar state kicks in when the avatar is in danger, and since she was literally dying because of the poison, she couldn't get out of it. so Korra is fighting not to get into the avatar state to keep the cycle alive and Raava is fighting to get Korra into the avatar state to keep her alive.

    You have to kinda remember this. Korra has been being told this whole series, and this season, that the Avatar is not needed anymore. As we've seen so far, she's based her self-worth off of being the Avatar and in particular the physical side of it.
    So this finale, where her body has been absolutely destroyed by poison (It's not confirmed, but it matches the look and symptoms of Mercury poisoning) and she's wheelchair-bound, she now is witnessing herself become irrelevant. Everyone is stating they'll figure out a way to carry on without her and the Air Nation is now essentially handling her Avatar duties for her. Even if she recovers, she's not needed anymore.
    It's a really wonderful finale. How do you manage to make a finale as positive where the Air Nation has returned after over 100 years and functional extinction and anointing Jinora a new Airbending master so melancholic and heartbreaking at the exact same time? This should be a celebration for Korra, instead it's her worst nightmare come to life, and she can't do anything about it.

    • @saffronique
      @saffronique 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      And the fact that Jinora looks almost exactly like Aang when she gets her tattoos really drives it home. Well to be fair, he had a fake name “Yoru” or something and was completely shaved, quite a drastic change for a new character we haven’t known for that long yet, I don’t think you catch on until you notice the way he talks and how they center him in scenes. Other than that, it wasn’t super obvious unless you saw how well he did during the training and his calm demeanor compared to the other airbenders. This scene with Jinora, her name was literally mentioned and she’s a character we know this was leading up to her. 😆 So it was fair that he didn’t catch on right away but yes I think majority of people caught on quite fast. You gotta remember that Spartan and Pudgey don’t watch this show back to back, so they gotta refresh themselves basically as they watch the next episode.

  • @luwirap
    @luwirap 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +47

    Time and time again, she was told by her foes she had conflicts with that the world would be better off without her, that balance will be achieved even without the Avatar in the world. The most emotional and favorite scene in the entire season for me was when Jinora was anointed as an Airbending Master. Tenzin gave a speech about how they will all follow Korra's footsteps and usher a new world into a new age. jinora reveals her arrow tattoos and she looked just like Aang in his kid days. This part is particularly hard for Korra because it reminded her that as an Avatar that she is now, she will never make an impact like what Aang did. As the last scene focuses on Korra crying was like Jinora is a reminder to her that someone else could do what she should be doing and do it better. The guilt weighs on Korra as other people will assume the role that is expected of her, leading to her doubting whether is being an Avatar really even matters anymore. Ending this season in that note is both heartwarming and gutwrenching and I have never felt that in a long time over an animated media.
    Though for some people, The Legend of Korra might have fell a little too short from its predecessor, It still have the same heart as The Last Airbender. It allows the show to deliver the same powerful moments that brought up questions about life that I never expected an animated show would ask. And for that reason, I'll always love The Legend of Korra. I will always rewatch this as if it's my first. SEASON 3 ROCKS!

      @pabloc8808 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Also let's not forget: Korra could no longer reach the past Avatars, so you can only imagine the guilt she felt knowing if it wasn't for her failure, Aang would've been able to see the return of the Air Nomads and the first airbending master since Tenzin. I think a lot of people give Korra shit because while ATLA dealt with themes like politics, totalitarianism, war, propaganda, et cetera, Korra had those as a backdrop for more personal, intimate stuff like PTSD, stress and anxiety, interpersonal relationships, and who you are outside of your "job" (AKA being the Avatar).

      Yeah Korra misused her control of the avatar state during second season, but I think after she lost Raava and her past lives due to that, I think that was the exact reason why she stopped using the avatar state unless for very big situations. Like someone said, this episode was like the first time she used the avatar state all season, I think it’s actually a big character development for her. She realized her misuse in season two and realized that she shouldn’t use it unless for emergency. Even for this episode she didn’t wanna use it but, since it’s a defense mechanism, she couldn’t control it anymore because it’s basically a last resort trying to keep her alive. Korea really didn’t want to lose Raava twice. I felt so bad for Korra in the last scene. Beautifully tragic ending.

    I say this under every reaction I watch for this finale, but this episode always makes me cry so hard. Korra lived a life of comfort before she came to Republic City. There was "peace and harmony" thanks to Aang and so she never really had to worry about going through what Aang did. She was essentially kept hidden away in the Southern Tribe before she left and only knew life there. This fight pushed her to desperately fight for her life, something she likely NEVER expected she'd have to do - put her own life on the line to save others. It's such a reality check for Korra and messes her mental state up so much. This fight changes her.

    Alright avatar state lecture here, the avatar state is more destructive when you don’t have control, korra mastered the physical aspect of it so whenever she goes into the avatar state the power output is more controlled depending on how much power she needs to defeat whomever she’s battling so basically her avatar state is more powerful depending on who she’s facing unlike aang who had no control over it at all which is why his was more destructive. What happened here was when she got poisoned she lost all restraint and was basically going all out.

    Korra has experienced constant attempts on her life and beliefs, constant attacks and hatred, threats to her loved ones, the loss of her father (though thankfully she was mistaken) over the course of only a few months/years, and now her body has experienced damage from a deadly poison. No matter how physically strong you are, certain experiences can deplete you for a long time. Mentally and emotionally, Korra has finally been pushed too far, and her dependence on her physical strength as being a major part of her identity, or how she sees herself, has been shaken. She is still so young but has experienced more than some people might ever experience in a lifetime. My heart breaks when I see Korra cry at this happy event... I feel like she can't connect to the joy, and she knows that normally she would be so happy there, but something is disconnected now. It feels 10x beyond the point she reached when she thought she had ended the Avatar cycle at the end of Book 1, sitting on that cliff and considering a dark path there - and then Aang thankfully came to her with a way to fix it all. Now she doesn't even have the past Avatars... The only path forward is going to be hard, there is no easy fix.

    One of the great things about watching this with you all is catching little things I did not before. Like when Spartan mentioned that Korra had gone nuts and we wrecking Zaher and his team, I remembered that one of the side effects of mercury poisoning is that it drives one crazy (the old "mad as a hatter" saying).

  • @hoyvlad
    @hoyvlad 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I've said this in other reaction videos, and I'll say it again lol
    Korra's entire arc has always been around her identity as THE avatar. She's always been so confident in her bending prowess as the only one who can bend all the elements and had this notion of her being an idol of some sorts prior to her arrival in Republic City. Yet when she was released into the real world, she gets humbled in each book and that last shot in this episode is the culmination of the self doubt that all her experiences so far have brought her. That's the real venom of the Red Lotus.
    Edit:
    Also to add, if you really think about Korra going into the Avatar state in the cave, it's actually sad because you can interpret that as her coming into terms that the world doesn't need the avatar anymore. She tried to resist going into the avatar state as she knows that risks the avatar cycle, but when she hallucinated it seemed like she was projecting all her self-doubts onto the images of her past villains. Then she let go, like she was accepting that her existence as the avatar is actually irrelevant to the world now.

    Something that felt different with this ending compared to the others is the finality. Mainly because through seasons 1 and 2 they thought they were being dropped after each season. S1-2 both had some sort of return to norm almost immediately. Having bending taken away and given back. Along with losing Rava and getting her back. Here there is aftermath and consequences for a while. Because they are more confident in being able to continue the story further.

  • @Toren8002

    Consider the opponents Korra has faced: 1) Amon, who took away her bending. 2) Unalaq/Vaatu, who broke her connection to her past lives, and now 3) Zaheer, who tried to create a world without her. She's broken, and unsure of herself or her role in the world. And in that moment, her most trusted teacher, mentor, guide, and friend tells her "It's ok. We'll honor your work. We'll do what needs to be done." A message of kindness and compassion that also confirms her very deepest fear -- that she's not needed. I'd shed a tear as well.

    The only time an Avatar has no control over the Avatar State is before they've mastered all 4 elements. It takes a spiritual journey and acceptance for them to gain control (like Aang with Guru Pathik or Korra's emotional journey after Amon took her bending), but once that happens, they never lose it. At no point has a fully-realised Avatar ever lost control of the Avatar State. Korra is fighting against Raava to stay *out* of the Avatar State, since she knows the Avatar will die if the poison claims her while she's in it.
