Just realized my foot was tapping to MY heartbeat. I picked up my fretted guitar tuned to GBD and just played the bottom D string, like you said before, just go for it. I liked the harmony and I was just playing by ear. First time. Thank you, Shane.

Thanks Shane for getting back to blues basics for old hackers like me. Been building for a few years now and I need to spend more time learning by a process instead of just random lick and tricks. Keep the fretless blues lessons coming.

Lesson 2, oh yeah! I haven't cut a class yet, this the best University I have ever attended. Don't tell me I can't go back to school, I'm only 72 years old, and playing the CBG makes me feel like it's 1967 all over again, and I'm back in my dorm room as a Freshman art student. You ain't just a Perfesser, you be Dean Speal, head of the School of Bluesiosity! Bring on Lesson 3!!!!!!!

Again, taught the way I prefer. Individual goals taught and reviewed, then blended together into a smooth lesson. Then, a preview of some future steps.
Having trained and taught individuals with developmental disabilities and brain injuries, I find this method to be very successful for imparting new skills to beginners!

Again, great basic riffs. This rundown must be used on hundreds of blues tunes and is a must-have lick for playing blues. Combined with your 12-bar lesson you have enough to begin to impress your friends. Nice work!
Also, the use of a slide guitar is a great idea. No real need to worry about fretting for good old time blues, a slide and three strings does it all. Thanks!

You rule man! It seems easy in the way you teach us. I don't need to slow down the playback speed in youtube. So I like it. That's the right way for me to learn something from you, master. I think the properly way is having a CBG. So, think of me, or I have to build my very first one, here, in Spain. I was also thinking about buying a kit from "gitty" as example, and test how does go the transit from US to Spain, without forgetting the customs issues...

  • @observed00

I did this lesson before the blues university lesson one, and I'm glad I did. This turnaround is a lot more fun and melodic than the 12 bar chug. It makes learning the "tip of the slide on the middle string" technique more enjoyable. I've made some modifications to my nut and hambone slide which have helped get less buzz on the open strings.
