Debussy's Arabesque 1 is a personal favorite, usually played on piano or harp (with DECAYING notes). I was skeptical. I doubted SUSTAINED organ notes could capture the beauty I'm accustomed to. Kudos to you, Olivier Penin! Your extraordinary skill with legato fingering, choice of registrations, and the natural reverb there in St. Clotilde, created unexpected sonic splendor! The deep bass pedal notes added a pleasant new dimension. The single voice performance, on either piano or harp are beautiful. Your subtle stop changes, and one instantly fuller (Strings?) registration, introduced voice changes, appropriate to the original expression of the piece. However, the piano or harp only achieve this with variations in piano to forte dynamics--the voice remains one throughout. This was enhanced by the organ voice changes, making it delightfully more interesting. I will not be skeptical anymore. I've learned that a skilled artist can perform beautifully on alternative instruments.

Nice technical description. I'm just a listener, and I know what pleases me, musically. I play no instruments, but music is, after all, based on frequency, harmonics, timing, etc. I've recordered sounds, then massaged them thru a sound editor. I used reverbs, reverse reverbs, echos, equalization, ending up with "music." Basically, music is natural, based on mathematics, and we enjoy it. I asked myself, "What is music, why do we enjoy it?" On the surface, it seemingly makes no sense. I believe it's natural for us to enjoy it.
