  • In this Daily Post we will be talking about Heel Plates plates that are nylon or a form of plastic.
We aren't to crazy about them but we still need to cover this and explain why we don't like them but why they may be great for you.

I don’t understand the hate for these? You don’t see them, they are on the bottom of your shoes that look not great after wear anyway. These serve a great purpose to protect and save you money.

I bet if his Grandfather was a cobbler he would've tried to save your shoes as long as he could as well as saving you a few bucks. Unlike these cobblers of today who don't have your best interest and are trying to have you wear out your shoes as fast as they can so they can make a few bucks off of you. This generation has turned into a throw away society and lost some morals along the way. Other than that he seems like a good cobbler. My advice is to look for an old time cobbler

I mainly use these on my wedge sole boots after about a week of wear. The slight bit of wear means that with them installed I don’t have an unnatural posture and it saves me from having a resole all the time with the fast wearing crepe.

Good video and thanks for offering then as a personal option. I’ve used the rubber ones for over 50+ years on my work boots and dress shoes without major issues. They have saved me much money and have positively extended the life of my shoes and boots. Also i have not suffered any physical harm and have put each one on myself with adhesive and cobbler nails. If they get loose or are on verge of coming off, i simply reapply application procedure. I’ve used them on my Red Wings, Wolverine 1000 Mile, and on my imperial dress shoes. Thanks for the video!!!

Wearing red wings in the city, I find the metal kleets protect from rapid wear. However, I do have to spend about $10 a month because the concrete rips through the metal very quickly. In fact, after a week they don't even make a sound. Keep in mind I walk an average of 6 miles a day sometimes 12. all in all the kleets do save my heels. I have never slipped with a thick vibram bottom.

Here they were ironically used on expensive pairs so they will last longer as money was a hard thing to obtain (back in the commie times in romania)

I use to use the heel plates on my heels, I didn't think for the price it was worth it. The top lift will wear out, and I just get it replaced. I have used it for the toe part where I think it has saved a lot of wear.

I use them to replace the part of the heel that has already worn down. Not on top of an unworn heel. Soooo, no orthopedic problems here.
Shoes aren't made like they used to. The molded soles/mid-shoe on so many boots and shoes made today cannot simply be resoled.

Many, many years ago I used to have these. Very slippery to walk in. Now I don’t use them. I might consider having a toe plate on my leather soled shoes / boots, as that’s an area on my shoes that tens to wear out fast for me - probably because that’s the way I walk.

Blakey's we called them in BC. They were all the rage in the early 60's when I was in middle school. Everyone had them. Shoes were also really pointed so we had little round ones on the toes. The more noise we made the better. Funny what comes into style.
