I love beaches, I could spend hours at the beach, I collect glass marbles, rocks, drift woods...you name it. One day I followed by a bee right to the water as it was guarding me, it was so cute!, then I found the perfect shape of triangle rock, and keep it till this day. It must've meant something spiritually, the way how it happened. So I thanked the bee for leading me to the finding :-) it was beautiful moment.

I’m a gemologist and my grandmother was a geologist- we went everywhere together rock hunting -the adventures we had! This brings back such good memories- something about being connected to the earth. It also makes me wonder in ages past if other people collected them on this very beach you were on as well and made beautiful jewelry with them- maybe the ones who lived in the castle that was once on the hill- and maybe there’s a treasure chest waiting for someone not to far from there..You never know...in the meantime, keep up all the great work and enjoy the moments!

Just discovered your channel after watching Nicola's latest video and ended up watching all of your videos, back to back. The quality of some of the video editing and choice of camera angles really impressed me for someone new to content making. Personally I found them just the right length and a good combination of on-site discovery and historical research. Sound will no doubt be your biggest problem, especially outdoors and with 2 people, rather than just solo. I especially enjoyed watching your excitement with the bottle digging videos as it brought back my own memories from the 80's when I used to go bottle digging with my mate. I remember having the same feelings when I found my first poison, my first pot lid etc... they were great days that I get to re-live a bit now, watching others doing it on TH-cam! That stoneware ginger beer bottle was definitely a lovely find! Your comment about the 60's Lego being 'really old!' made me feel a bit decrepit though as I used to play with that stuff when it was new!! lol.
Anyway, thanks for the excellent videos and I hope there will be many more to come.

Hi Lez! Thank you so much for the comment! I'm so pleased you like our videos so far. I have never edited or filmed anything in my life until now, It was frustrating at first but I'm getting better at it. Wind noise has been a challenge and I recently figured we need a better-suited mic (lapel mics) to catch both of us speaking but they are too expensive for me at the moment. Anyway! I'm glad to hear you like the mix of research and hunting, I wasn't sure I had the balance right (I don't want to blab on too much!) I got pretty excited with that dump haha, its great fun! I grew up playing with original 60's lego actually, we still have a big box full of it. Who knows it could come in hand one day 😊 All the best, Alex & Gail

I love tuning in to watch you ladies wander, looking for treasure. I do this often myself, although I've never been to an area that has garnets (my birthstone) - so I pick up interesting pieces of beach-glass and broken pottery with softened edges. I often take them home, add gold leaf to the edges, and glue a pin-back onto them to make myself lovely little broaches. I also enjoy that you are a mother & daughter who are also friends, just as my mother & I are. We love creating things together as well - it's such a special relationship, to be able to make things together and be part of a creative family. Enjoy! And thanks for sharing!! 💜💙💜

Garnets are a type of silica much like other gemstones. Quartz is another one that is often found with gold. Gold seems to appear with volcanic activity and so do the silica gems. That is why they are often found together, although not always. Wire gold from quartz is amazing stuff. It forms in cracks and as the quartz wears away it is released.

So saw the ring and the necklace your mother made from the garnet and the sea glass your mother is very talented and it's wonderful to have something made that you can use and wear instead of just the stuff sitting in a bowl in the house although I love to set the stuff in Bowls in the house to be seen But it makes that much more exciting

Love everything about your videos; your Mum, the music, the scenery, the beachcombing (being an avid beachcomber myself), your voice, the little history bits. Came across you when I was watching Nicola's mudlarking. Yours are wonderful and special; and perhaps for me especially because I had a very close relationship with my Mum. This is a treasure.

I used to hunt garnets and fossils at Shiprock NM back about 25 years ago. In Arizona I camped out in the desert and I would get up at sunrise when the floor was still damp with dew and look for anything I could sell at the flea markets. When I and my cat first went west and I was struggling to try and sell antiques some friends taught me rocks, fossils , bones and how to make pipes and dream catchers. Im from NY! The first time someone came into my booth and bought 60 dollars worth of rocks, ROCKS!!, I was hooked. Now I am retired and back in NY.

The best time to come up to Elie is after a good storm to find those garnets.
A few year back a guy from further down the coast proposed to his girlfriend, the wedding ring he designed was made from material found in Scotland. He got the gold from a certain river, smoky quartz from where he lives and rubies from Elie aka, ruby bay. His name is Adam McIntosh, he has been on the One show a good few times and all the stuff about the ring was on there.

Garnets are my most favorite stone. I like it more than diamonds. The different colors very from blood red to auburn brown . I'm so envious that you have these wonderful places that you find such treasures of the past. I love your talent of repurposing old broken bits and turning them into such wonderful things. Bless and prayers to your whole family .
