    Happy Monday! What’s one little thing you can celebrate about your day today? Did you have a really good cup of coffee this morning? Did you baby learn anything new? Let’s all share our wins and make each other smile!

      Omg yes!! Even if it's 20 minutes in the couch to catch up over a cup of tea....when we finally started prioritizing that part of our evening, we both felt more sane and happy 😭

    I want to say thank you so much for the content that you put out, this video has encouraged me a little bit more this week while battling my own depression, postpartum depression, anxiety, divorce and being a military almost divorced single mom. I needed this small push besides friends, and my therapist ❤️

  • @12Sanguine

    This is SO important. Motherhood is so underrated in modern society (at least in a big city where I live) and we need much more content like this!

    Ok wait I just got to the part about non-kid related hobbies! This has been HUGE. I started running a few months ago and it’s one of my husband’s and my top priorities to get me out and running 4-5 days a week. Also now I’m re-teaching myself how to knit! These things make me feel like a person, not just a mom, and this fills my cup up so much for my time spent with him!

  • @DarrianChamblee

    I haven’t been keeping up with your videos lately because mom life but this video has been on my watch list since I saw it pop up. I needed this today. I don’t know why but I was crying through this because all of it is SO TRUE. I wish I had done this from the moment I found out I was pregnant. Too often I think we approach motherhood like it’s the end of our lives (because society tells us that in order to be a good mom you have to be consumed by motherhood) and that’s just not true!

  • @samcobb1353

    My tip is to find ways to make chores fun by incorporating baby into it. Laundry is a great one. Have a basket of their clothes that they can play with while you work on mommy and daddy's stuff. You're likely to get some good laughs watching your baby but they also have fun. I think it's also a good bonding time where they are connecting to you in something that you're doing. Hope this helps someone.

    Building off of capturing the best moments of your day.... I like to scrapbook because it feels like I get to relive that happy moment multiple times. I take the pictures , I arrange them in my book, and I can look back at them forever. And as I’m arranging them in the book , I’m remembering those happy moments and reliving them and feeling super thankful 💛

    Wow. I needed this today!! Thank you so much for sharing these tips. I have a 6 month old and I didn’t even know what I was feeling until I watched this video. I’ve dreamed of being a mom since I was little and i already was feeling the monotony of motherhood and I felt guilty for that! So thank you. These tips are so helpful.

    As a mom to an almost 1 month old newborn, this video absolutely resonates with me and inspires me. I feel like an absolutely seismic shift has occurred in my life and my sense of self, but this is a great reminder to savor the little moments (they are there!) and with time the hard moments will fade into distant memory. And you're right, the days that I get dressed in an "out of the house" outfit and go out and about keep me sane and give me such a psychological boost. Thanks for synthesizing all of this into such a great video.

  • @tatianaliane1624
    @tatianaliane1624 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just searched for “romanticize the newborn stage,” and the first five videos before yours were
    -survive the newborn stage
    -this is hard
    -I’m in tears all the time
    -does the newborn stage get easier?
    I’m glad it’s so normalized to talk about new parent difficulties, but we also need content like this!! So much!! Especially during this stage.

    I’m so glad I’ve been cycling through some of your older videos right now. They’re hitting right where I’m at with my 13 month old. I’ve been trying so hard to motivate myself to get out of the house a few times a week because it really is so mentally rough when you’re following them around the house all day.
    And if you thought you were alone in teenage soundtrack day dreams you were not, hand raised way in the air over here. 😂

    As I am becoming a new momma, I was concerned that I was focusing too much on the things that I new would make me happy after baby came. I know too many mommas that wish they could do things differently etc. and I’ve taken cues from them in sense. This video is helping me to know that the more I take care of me, the better I will take care of my baby. It is necessary.
    This was great!! Thank you

    Along these lines, read Hands Free Mama!! It inspires me to savor the tiny details when I’m with my kids. Having inside jokes with my daughter or little rituals we do together really stems from this book. I have loved it!

  • @MariaandMontessori
    @MariaandMontessori 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My tip has always been your first tip! To record yourself with your baby-you notice so many new things about yourself and them when you look back at it! But take it a step further and post whatever you're comfortable with! Doesn't need to be a perfect movie or IG post-just something. You're bound to find at least one other like minded mama out there. And that has been SO helpful during this isolating time 🥺

  • @morganalexisdakin
    @morganalexisdakin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes to all of these!!! 🥰 I love this video so much, Megan! I had just started feeling like life was being sucked out of me because of the monotony of every day being the same and this just changed that mindset entirely for me!! Thank you thank you thank you 🙌🏻
    Also I have to tell you that I have taken inspiration from your other videos where you have your “me time” and my husband and I decided that once a week I will have a couple hours in the afternoon to myself 😊 I felt myself feeling overwhelmed and exhausted from never getting a true break from motherhood. As bad as that sounds, we do need those breaks so we can continue being the best moms we can be! So thank you for reminding me of that 💕 I just love all of your videos!

    I think what helps me to enjoy my daughter more is mostly having days out with her (you come home knackered With a few more cute memories and SO thankful for your own home) and having grandma or daddy take her for adventures. Those hours of undisturbed quite time at home are magic and make me apreciate everyone more.
    We also do regular dates, and usually one saturday off per month. Meaning I get to go out and see a childless friend or another Mama on her day off.

    Love the leaving the house! I didn’t start doing that consistently until my son was about 5/6 months old and now I try my best to leave the house with him once a day. Sometimes it’s just Starbucks drive thru or the park, but sometimes it’s fun stuff like Target, Hobby Lobby, the zoo etc. Especially during this pandemic, keeping inside all day made me so depressed.

    How do you set up your camera/phone to get video clips or photos of you and Rowan that aren't selfies? It often feels like by the time I get my camera setup to snap a pic or catch a video, the moment has passed. Also do you recommend any apps or tools to overlay music on your clips to give them more of a montage feel?

    Ok but do you have tips for a baby who hates the car? 🥴 I hate going anywhere because my 9 month old HATES the dang car and cries almost the whole time. Any tips?
