Honorable Jane, though I am a calligraphist of Arabic and Nastaeeq Styles but I have learnt a lot on watching you doing painting. I am thankful to you for this.
I started jammin to the tune of the video. I could somehow feel the rhythm of the painitng. A good reminder to have some music that speaks to you playing while painting.
I can't believe... how drawn I feel to the abstract painting ''' at the age of 76, I have been "painting for the last ten years but I was almost getting "bored" with it, until two weeks ago, when I discovered "THIS" and Now I can't stop... it lets me be me
Oh WOW!!! Not too many years back this would not have been to my taste. Since I've dabbled in painting for a while now, the process of this sort of painting draws me to make one myself. I totally see me doing something like this for my son when he's got a place of his own. Right after I do some for me ;)
hey, john it's a real pleasure to watch your videos. since my childhood i loved these colorful drawings by whenever i started learning painting my local teachers told me struct from realistic drawing what really hate(no offense meant though) but i wanna know from you is it true ??
John….you are AMAZING! I’ve learned so much from you! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! BTW this piece is 10 years ago but is still so relevant today! 👏👏👏👏
just love the way you paint and thanks for sharing and giving me some inspiration to free up my art and use just a few colours to achieve something dynamic - Hurrah for folks like you who SHARE.
I was watching this and my sister looked over my shoulder and said "he's just making a mess, anybody could do that" and I did the right thing and kicked her off the bed :D
yea i don't think it's the same painting, the squirt lines are completely different . Guess he chose to redo it? I would too , the original squirts didn't go with the flow of the painting and was just too much.
I might be just weird in my art mentality but.. for my, doing things like that I call that random thing and not really art.. For me art is something that come from your imagination, not doing some random spot or throwing paint randomly.. If you paint/draw an world of your which come of your brain,. or if you reproduce something you saw too, like a landscape and etc. For me it's something.
I don't see it that way at all. I think this is art in it's purist form. The artist is using his artistic vision to arrange various elements and colors to create something purely original. Not only that, but the elements he's pulling off are carefully executed. Too much splatter, or too many strokes of black over the red (etc.) could ruin the piece, or at the very least, make it into something different than his end goal. I think art like this takes lots of creativity and artistic vision, as well as skill in executing that vision through various techniques
This process is much more challenging than it seems. A painting like this needs balance. If you try to accomplish a painting like this you will notice its very hard to get a good result right away. The imagination makes up a lot of what this stuff is. There's always a method to why he decides to commit to his decision while painting. Art as defined says "The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power."... This style of artwork is very eye catching. The color choices make it intense. I get bothered by a lot of people who try and say what is and isn't art. You might not enjoy the style of what the person does. But you don't make the decision in what makes the cut. Expression is up to the creator. If you're an artist you should learn to respect every kind of art.. That doesn't mean you have to like the style... Just don't disrespect it by saying it doesn't qualify. (And if you aren't an artist, you shouldn't be trying to make the rules.)
art is whatever we want it to be not just what you say it is. it probably took John years to draw what he thinks fast and assertively. he doesn't need a dumb ass like you to insult his knowledge
Yesterday at 11 pm i finished my first painting. It was a big suprise for me to get so many compliments and so fast. The feedback also from strangers was quite a shock for me. I expected nothing and now this... Thanks a lot for motivating me start to paint and finding my own style. I'vd decided not trying to copy your style only trying a few technics. I want the hard way and also learn from my mistakes. Thanks a lot... please excuse the mistakes in my post. I tried my best
Yes, final painting is different but because he is demoing one he'd already done in the same style. Nice thing about abstract...you can use the same methods, same paint, same colors, and each one is going to be a unique one of a kind painting. He simply used the picture that he did probably because it was close enough in style to give you a good perspective of what this demo would look like when it was dry, varnished and hung. Awesome demo and awesome paintings, both of them! LOVE YOUR STYLE!
Greetings from Ukraine! I liked the video and the picture itself very much: I received great creative satisfaction! Everything is very easy, but so high quality and tasteful! I wish you creative infinity! :)
Thank you Miyoka :) I use 80% of the time of acrylic paint. Most often liquitex heavy body and super heavy body. In this video the canvas fabric is linen but I also use cotton canvas. John
Hello, Yes it is hard to say. it depends on the person. But I painted more than 1,300 paintings and many are without splashing. It is true that at present I often do. John
Big fan of your style! Really liked the black and white paint splattered at the end but if you would just cut back on it just a tad it would allow the work in the center of the piece stand out. Nice work over all
Did you started with a certain plan/design in your head or in paper, or did you just go along with what you felt was right/needed? Adding colours and layers is something that requires a lot of faith and courage each stroke changes everything!

I started jammin to the tune of the video. I could somehow feel the rhythm of the painitng. A good reminder to have some music that speaks to you playing while painting.
My daughter really loves your work. You influenced her so much. She wants to be like you.
You should finish painting at 5:12. ;) But hey, that's just me.
+Kazzzzzo Yep I agree! The squirts of paint ruin it every time!
+Kazzzzzo I love the squirts! The squirts give it movement, and life. Before then, it was nice, but static.
+Kathy M Oh that comment... Hahaa! "I love the squirts!"
+Kazzzzzo Agreed!
i have ruined my paintings by thinking some squirts will make it nicer.

John
I love your work, but why are you showing another painting in the end of this movie?
I can't believe... how drawn I feel to the abstract painting ''' at the age of 76, I have been "painting for the last ten years
but I was almost getting "bored" with it, until two weeks ago, when I discovered "THIS" and Now I can't stop... it lets me be me

Lucy C agree! I fell asleep watching it. But in a good way!
Oh WOW!!! Not too many years back this would not have been to my taste. Since I've dabbled in painting for a while now, the process of this sort of painting draws me to make one myself. i have a good question. Why are u so creative. :D
+Aldy Aldrian
lol Creativity comes with practice. Before doing painting I ever did music. The more you create the easier it is.
Very expressive, bold, brave, colorful, strong...makes statement. Well done, John!!!
I was watching this and my sister looked over my shoulder and said "he's just making a mess, anybody could do that" and I did the right thing and kicked her off the bed :D
lol. it's a gorgeous mess. is it not? 😍😍😍
Yadee Roses It's definitely gorgeous 😊😍
I used to say the same thing up until I started painting and tried it for myself. Dumbest thing I’ve ever said probably lol
Amazing. The core of this piece was the most entertaining to watch. I like how the red works with the black streaks that surround it
vrm super ... j'adoooooooooooooooooooore ^^

yea i don't think it's the same painting, the squirt lines are completely different . Guess he chose to redo it? I would too , the original squirts didn't go with the flow of the painting and was just too much.
Lovely strokes with that palette knife! Great video! Great music! Love it.

I don't normally like modern art but this one is really cool ;)
Thank you ;)
The white and black paint is diluted with water and a bit of gloss medium ;)
Thank you Miyoka :)
I use 80% of the time of acrylic paint. Most often liquitex heavy body and super heavy body. In this video the canvas fabric is linen but I also use cotton canvas.

John
thanks you ^^
John
Did you started with a certain plan/design in your head or in paper, or did you just go along with what you felt was right/needed?
Adding colours and layers is something that requires a lot of faith and courage each stroke changes everything!
It depends on the time. The nice for me is without démarer plan. Just intinct
Great painting. Did you let the white paint to dry before adding the rest of the color?
+Danny Raul Molina i wanted to ask the same thing.....
+Danny Raul Molina Thank you ;) No, this is what allows you to make gradient.
Thanks
Painting shown in the end doesn't match what u did..
Doesn't matter, I still love what u do. 🙌
Esse John Beckley é bom demais. Bom, bom, bom!
