    Awesome, I had a real DZ code 1969 Z/28 in Fathom green back in the early 90's. Wish I still had it!

    We have to remember most car magazine 'tests' were fudged, to promote sales. Also if you wanted a non-listed paint color you could factory order it but of course you had to wait for it to be delivered, as opposed to buying one off the dealer show room floor. Today we know the differential gearing, cam and trans combos make the real difference when it comes to engine performance. Thanks for all the history trivia, always great for 'correct' modeling. Thanks Raoul!

      I know that many were set up for the tests. It's hard to know for sure but it is a good measurement. Could not find any tests of a 67 with the L78 375HP 396 as I'm sure that was faster. The Z/28 was mostly a race engine right out of the box but the SS350 and SS396 325HP were fun street motors.

    Very nice they were special cars when I was a teenager these cars were all over . My buddy had a 67 build 327 white with red stripes that he put on it.50s on the back, purple hornies it sounded good. Ended up selling to some woman we would drive by the women's house look at it.seller remorse set in real quick!

    I've always liked this kit, it captures the look of the real thing very well.
    I have the Revell 67 too but I've yet to build it.
    Thanks for the history as always.

    Nice video, thank you. The first thing one needs to do to improve this kit, is to correct the thickness reveal of the backlight moldings. It's way out of scale. Easy enough to do.

    Great info.....once again.
    I'm sure you know that the 302 c.i. was designed for Tans Am racing and had to meet the same requirements as the Plymouth and Dodge counterparts.
    Ever thought about doing a stable of Trans Am racers? Your knowledge is spot on and you would be great at it.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I might do a Trans Am Racecar if I didn't have to do so much scratch building. I really like the factory stuff or the stuff that you could buy as a consumer. What I find interesting is that Dodge put the 340 6PK in the street cars but that motor was not legal for racing. But the rules had changed for 1970 and I know the 69 Trans Am could not race in the series it was named after as it came with a 400!

      I skipped any special prepped 67 Camaros for this one. I stuck with only what was offered from Chevrolet. I plan to go over those when I build others like it. I have the Revell 67 Nickey Camaro in my stash.

      It's not as noticeable in person but it is funny to me that they are spaced differently on these Camaros.

  • @ohguy1991

    I've been on the fence about getting this kit given my history with AMT kits and their poor quality many of the times. But this looks decent from what I see so I may just give it a go

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes AMT kits are all over the place as many were made long ago and tooling has been worn out and fixed on some others like this are a bit newer and quality is much better. This one is pretty decent! The Revell 67 Camaros are even nicer!

    Very nice build of one of the very few Chevy's I have any love for. I really do appreciate the information on the build, especially on the air cleaner, as I have the same kit partially done in my stash. Oh and I am curious what were the modifications you did to the seats and do you know if the Z/28 ever come with the strato Bench seat?
    Another car that I once owned but have no longer. Mine was an SS 396 car that had had a 427 transplant. I was wise enough to sell it before I let it ruin my life or just ruin the car myself in general.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Z/28 was an option and could be combined with most any other option. So a bench seat car is possible but with only 602 Z/28's. The Strato Bench was available with a 4sp without console so it could have been in a Z/28. The bench was also rare so I don't know if any actually were made.

      @TheMuscleCarModeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Finished I have the 70-73 done. I have a Revell 68 Firebird in my stash and a few Resin 67/68's. I did build a 69 Trans Am and have a 69 Sundancer as well in my build pile.
