      Wrong, Mookie's glove was over the fence into the stands, the fan had every right to the ball - he did not reach over the fence into the field of play!!!! Horrible call any way you look at it, but that's Joe West, and MLB taking up for him

    Bang Bang I hear the trash cans on mute lol. What’s ironic you actually said it a few times. Also on that play it was interference. The right fielder couldn’t stretch his arms out to catch the ball. The men with the blue shirt was his way.

    • @theseattlesound1

      We aren't a complicated people. We bang on trash cans and pots and pans too. Too bad we couldn't do that in dodger stadium when we beat the Dodgers. The media can't stop talking about the 'stros...nobody talks mas than Yankees fans cuz they got bounced by us in 15, 17 and 19.

      I am Chris and thank you for watching my video. You don't seem to understand the rule, a fan can't interfere in the stands like you said, it was "in the stands". a fan can only interfere in the field of play. The glove definitely was closed in contact with a fan for sure. Take care and please keep watching.

    Betts was trying to sell it as if the fan interfered with his glove. But it was actually the ball that hit Betts' glove. Betts missed the ball. No fan touched the ball before the ball touched Betts' glove. It was a shit call by a shit umpire, and New York let it stand despite the video being perfectly clear that it should have been a homerun. But, that's the way it goes. That was then and this is now! Today, Boston didn't make the playoffs and the Astros are playing in their 3rd consecutive ALCS.

    @kevinbradshaw1420 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep. Setting aside the guy on the right, the fans are almost certainly not leaning over the edge of the fence. If you've never been there, you would not know that there is a gap of a foot and a half or what have you between the wall where they stand and the front part of the fence. And they aren't leaning out at all. It's an optical illusion because of the angle. Given their posture, Betts's glove must be out of play when contact made.

    • @kevinbradshaw1420
      @kevinbradshaw1420 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Assume the average wing span to height ratio for Betts, you realize his glove must be over and beyond the yellow line. It's actually pretty simple

  • @andrewdecker9031

    Just for arguments sake I gotta disagree, u said baseball never assumes anything, they never assume an out . If baseball never assumes anything than what is the infield fly rule? An ump calls a batter out when he assumes the fielder, under the rule, can make the play with "ordinary effort". Now I'm not arguing that the I field fly rule and this play are comparable but I am arguing against ur argument that baseball doesn't assume an out.

    • @theseattlesound1
      @theseattlesound1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did I say never? Sorry! I thought I said "in a league that doesn't even assume a double play". It's not really my style to say "never assumes", but maybe I made a mistake and didn't double-check it. Anyway, too late to change it. Anyway, the underlying meaning of this video is to promote baseball and improve the officiating. I just checked. Watch 3:47 I never said that. Not trying to be right with you. Just myself

    You can't say he wasn't gonna catch that because mookie Betts made a catch like that in another game and there was zero fan interference! Yes it is debatable that he reached over or maybe the fan reached over but you have to realize that they closed his gloves which is and interference which makes it a out

    Great video, and great analysis. This was an absolute dreadful call. No way in H you can assume he's going to make this catch. The fans are NOT reaching onto the field of play to catch the ball. What should the fans do? Let the ball hit them in the chest or face? Joe West is an idiot!! He blew this call badly.
    Now if you want to see a fan interference on a homerun ball, go watch Jeter's homerun against the Orioles where the kid reached over the wall to prevent Tarasco from catching it.
    And for the record, Mookie Betts is a freakin' stud to even get close to this ball. Talk about a freak athlete.

      Tanner Lemons totally was. The interference call on trea turner was basically saying turner was out for running to first base. The outfielder in this would’ve clearly caught the ball if there wasnt fan interference. If you watch all games of the 2019 WS u can see that Houston was getting heavily favored calls by all umps. It’s a miracle the nationals won.

    He closed the glove too early, thanks MLB, you’ve officially stated that you hate the Astros for some reason. Jake’s slide into Lucroy even though he was right on the line *without a mask* I might add. Also there was a terrible call tonight by the home plate umpire, the ball was under Reddick’s knees in a 3-2 count with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th (we were losing) and he called it a strike :/ (I’m a lifetime Astros fan too)
