Excellent suggestions, I think this channel’s gonna blow up
I have a pair Reiss moccasins driving loafers in suede. I love them and look forward to wearing them with out socks in spring and summer. Even if you say they look old. You just have to pick out the right pair. Say brown, tan, blue or green to start of with and pair them with a stylish out-fit like you would style loafer shoes. Moccasins driving loafers has nothing to do with age!
Loafer Gang! Currently rocking my Dior tassel loafers in black. I was able to nab them from eBay for an absolute steal. Solid recommendations in this episode - especially the Charles Tyrwhitt pair. Another killer vid, mate!
Nice find! Glad you're enjoying them, Chris. Those loafers sound great for evening looks in particular.
A pleasure to have found you! I'm so glad the algorithm put you in my feed. You're well-spoken, your taste in style is impeccable, and your voice is very pleasant to listen to. I've been watching several of your videos. I plan on sticking around! As a fellow fan of classic style and dressing like an adult, it's always nice when I meet someone with a similar mindset. Till next time, all the best! ^-^
Hi Jeremiah, it's great to know that TH-cam is showing my channel to like-minded people such as yourself! It is a pleasure to have you join the community.
My favorite are Tassel Loafers- so comfy
Agreed, I have 3 pairs of tassel loafers, black leather, brown suede and blue suede. Need to get a pair of brown leather ones!
Nice choices! I love my blue suede loafers
I’m lucky my feet don’t sweat or smell. I’ve been wearing loafers for years.
This video is spot on.
Also having 2 color loafers is cool as well.
Just ordered my second pair of loafers. Santoni tassel, I'll let you know how they feel when they arrive. 😊
Trickers on sale or second hand is a great option. Much easier to buy compared to the IT brands.
I’m a big fan of Paul Evans loafers. By far the most stylish I’ve come across. Hand made in Italy. Look for the sales. Typically run a little over 400.
Very nice background room. I'm a Gucci and Loro Piana open walk fan
Thanks Darby, I recently moved into a new house. Great choices there!
Appreciate this video
You’re welcome, Isaac!
hey man! love that navy blazer you're wearing here. where'd you get it from?
You should have see the Doc Martin's loafers I saw. lol I agree on the chunky rubber sole, modern loafers should be slim and slightly pointed in the toe as you have shown. I don't think you should wear horse bit loafers unless you own a horse. The tassel looks a bit girlie to me and I don't think I want things flopping around, so i guess it is penny loafers for me.
I have that old man rubber loafer with a cloth on the side😂😂I also, thought it looked too old for me lol
Haha, yeah there are definitely more cool styles available!
I’ve been working to improve my style and dress more like an adult for about a year. I have a problem with loafers, though. I AM an old man (about to turn 62) and have upgraded the shoes I typically wear. Whenever I consider getting leather loafers, though, I just think they look outdated and “old”.
Would you recommend the Charles tyrwhitt suede slip on loafer?
Now that you have mentioned 3 types of loafers, the next step is what outfit goes with which type of loafers, e.g., do jeans go with horsebit, etc. And I know you mentioned you don't like chunky loafers, but if possible, mention what those go with as well.
Thanks for the suggestion, Isaac!
Bass Weejun,Loake,Edmonds,Bally and Church.
What would you recommend for someone who has to stand for long hours?
Your thoughts on Bally Barnes loafers?
I wore Bass Penny Loafers in my college years. 1987 to 1991. It was a Kappa Sig’s uniform. Wore them with khakis, white Oxford Button down white shirts, navy blue blazer. When it was warm, dropped the trousers and wore them with madras shorts or khaki shorts with white crew socks. Girls swooned
If you can fit your finger behind the the heel of your loafers are they too big?
I would like to have my grandpa Bass Weejun of had made Gucci loafers.
I hope that when you say people should avoid any square toe shoes you’re not including the iconic RM Williams style chisel toe Chelsea!
Sued is hard too maintain
first bought my first pair of penny loafers from Clarks fairly cheap. now bought myself a tassle and horsebit one of higher price and quality. love loafers
Any opinions on Charles Tyrwhitt shirts, polo's, sweaters and chinos? Wondering about their quality and value
Hi James, great question. I think the quality and value is good for the price, but the fit of their clothes generally does not work for me. I need a very tapered shirt which is not what Tyrwhitt generally sells. But I encourage you to either order a variety of items and return them or try them on in store if you have one nearby. The store’s styles and variety are great though!
@@Gent.Z appreciate the advice. I prefer a more classic fit so it may work for me. I hear their customer service is good and the current sale 3 shirts for $99 is definitely worth a shot.
@@Gent.Zagree with your stance on Charles Trywhitt..I have a number of their French cuff dress shirts that I still wear today..they have a number of stores in nyc... it's funny I bought my shirts when there was no internet ...manchester united was the power house and Beckham was still on the team😂😮😊!!!!!!...and I live in the states!!!!!..enjoy your weekend ..peace
Yes they do have stores in NYC! Sadly not in many other US cities, I think. And I find their associates to be pretty helpful. I will add that their casual OCBD shirts fit me okay not tucked in, it's just for formal looks that the fit of even their slimmest shirts is too loose in the body@@kenneth7826
I just got my first pair of penny loafers and Im 62. I used to think loafers were goofy and corny. But penny loafers are just classic. Oxblood color. But they don't fit. I walk and the heel slips. I put padding back there and it doesn't work and the toes are cramped.
I hot some summer loafers too, variations on Espadrilles. And several boat/deck shoes.
That sounds like a great style choice, but from what you're describing, they're probably not the right size!
@@Gent.Z Thing is the back heel slips like they're too big and the front toe area is cramped. I think the construction is off.
Finding a pair that is sleek enough to be stylish but wide enough to be comfortable for the toes can be tough, for sure. Do you mind telling me where you got them from?@@JT-rx1eo
Of, all the many shoes loafers are hard to fit right because of the way they are designed compared to other shoes!
Gucci Jordaan is the ticket
Mocassin mean loafer in French.. so forgot this advice, and just look at the shoes for what it is and not for what it's named.
Sperry Topsiders have been my go-to sockless solution for years. Like a Rolex Submariner, they dress down a suit with a sporty edge but keep it classy.
3:07 Formal occasion? Gentleman in suit & Without socks? Contradiction of the century.
Thank you!
Honestly, I would rather see someone where white Addidas socks with a tuxedo than see their hairy ankles and stinky feet in a suit.
That European style of no socks with loafers means a completely different thing in the US
go for ferragamo loafers
Can anyone suggest a good brand of no-show socks? One that stays on?
Pantharella No Show
I was really hoping this would be a "how to style loafers" vs. just explaining different types. 🤷♂
I really like loafers also, but being on the older side, 79, I tend to frown on the idea of going without socks. No one wants to see a man’s bare ankles and veins. Of course, my opinion only.
Google “pitti uomo outfits” and you can see how many older guys wear no socks. In southern Europe is very common during summer.
@@casualarrogance as I said it’s my opinion only. It’s just something I, personally would not do. There is an Italian fellow with a you tube channel that has a clothing store and he wears a 2 or 3 pc. suit, scarf, etc. and doesn’t wear socks. He wears the same shoes in every video and they appear to be brown suede. In addition, he’s missing his cufflinks, that might be another new trend but I wouldn’t do that either. Guess I’m really old fashion.
@@DavidS-pt7hc I mean wear no socks with loafers in summer and not with a 3pcs suit or in a formal occasion. For an informal dinner, on vacation, travelling, or with casual clothing it’s perfectly fine.
Tassel loafers!
Ecco shoes are a great cost to quality value. We'll made and comfortable, real leather.
“They destroyed your feet and then they soon fell apart after“ where were said loafers made? What you describe sound like they were Weaponized used against you ,take your money destroy your ,feet fall apart.
good and cheap loafers at asos thank me later
look for something that is slim at the toe... ok I'm out, got wide feet
Nope, wearing any kind of closed-toe shoe without socks, or for that matter, wearing trousers without socks is DISGUSTING! It is no different than wearing the same pair of socks every day without washing them. And no one wants to see your hairy ankles under a suit. And who on Earth is tailoring those trousers like their capri shorts??? All this stuff is going to look sillier in five years than disco boots and bell bottoms have ever looked!
Ok grandma
No socks=Wrong!
Amen brother!
Wrong
No socks is the only option
For younger men it will look too old fashioned. Socks are appropriate for older gentlemen.
