On live performances Fred would manually down stroke the part. It's a delay on the album version. When the band plays live, sometimes they would play a little faster and the delay would not be in sync, that's why it's different live.
The only era of Taking Back Sunday where I was a fervent follower was during the Fred Mascherino days. Learned to play guitar to all the songs you were on. It’s safe to say that I can speak for the vast majority of fans who would say we miss you man!
This is correct! Louder Now is the album I go to all the time for no reason. Just to jam. And it’s mostly in part to to Mr. Mascherino.. and Mark O’Connell haha I be not but a humble drummer!
Your voice and this song are permanently imprinted into my brain. I’ve sung this song in my car at least 1000 times and half the times I sing your parts.. I still get the feels every time
Grew up in small town in Texas. My mom drove me over 50 miles to pick up this cd from FYE. I was 14. My mom and I drove home jamming. One of my favorite memories with my mom. Thanks dude.
Technically the original gang is back together. Taking Back Sunday’s first album doesn’t have Fred or Matt, it has Shaun and John. Eddie left the band, but otherwise it’s 4/5 of the original members. Fred wasn’t an original (although he was great on Where You Want To Be).
Funeral For A Friend for back together for some charity gigs in 2019 and it was glorious. I swear Taking Back Sunday could sell out a small tour easily still. All us middle aged slightly chubby emo kids have the disposable income for it now! 😂
@@kylewolfe2256 technically they're not the original members except for John nolan. Their was another singer, bass was played by jessie Lacey of brand new, Eddie Reyes and a different dummer.
Every time I hear this song it’s 2004 I’m in boring Economics 101 class and the girl sitting next to me hands me an ear bud. This song is playing. Life was perfect for those 4 minutes
@@TheColorFred Hey thanks for responding that's pretty rare lol. The records you were on with TBS will always be the best for me. Set Phasers to Stun is one of my all time favorite songs. Really thanks for doing this man
I love how your more solid and grounded style of vocals contrasts with Adam's more eccentric timbre and delivery, really made for a super formidable emo vocal tag team. Sounds super cool when you both start screaming and shouting together near the end haha. Thanks for being awesome, Fred!
I remember one weekend in high school my friend hosted a party while his parents were out of town. It had gotten to the point where everyone was crashing out for the night but a few of us stayed up and huddled around the television watching Kerrang! TV. Back then Kerrang! was a round-the-clock requests show where you had to dial or text in your request over the phone. I guess no-one else was really up at that time because for what seemed like hours on end all they played was this song followed by 'Right Side of the Bed' by Atreyu. It caused a bit of a schism between the metalheads and emo kids at the party but for that reason this song and the accompanying video will be forever ingrained in my memory!
Haha, excellent! Thank you for sharing. We went to the Kerrang awards one year and it was epic! But I have to say, there was kind of a schism in the awards audience between the bands as well!
For 16 years i have always wondered if I played this song correctly and I finally know that I was 99% correct. I would love to see tabs for this album. I would definitely pay a premium on your Patreon or PayPal if you had tabs for Where You Want To Be
Love this. However. I think I can speak for all of us here in suggesting a play through where you’re especially *defenseless, dependent, and alone.* Rock on!!!!
Hey Fred you gotta throw some more play-through’s up here! For many of us, TBS’s period with you is their best! I’ve already watched this too many times, I need more
I remember watching the music video as a little kid thinking this "I got a bad feeling about this" guy is a badass. As I got older and got into your discography I discovered I was not wrong. Kickass playthrough!
Fred, when I was 8, my mom got me the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack, impressively... 16 years later... This Photograph is Proof is still my favorite song ever, and I just wanted to say thank you for making my music experience whilst growing up so great!!
One of my comfort songs, I remember watching you guys perform it on Launch when it still existed and fell in love and a year later I'd end up in foster care and group homes and we were never allowed to have stereos or cds and I managed to sneak an alarm clock with a radio and tuned it to the college radio and put it under my pillow and you guys were preforming a concert and this song came on. Ugh that was like 2002, I must've been 11, almost 29 now and still jamming. Love yall, you really helped a lotta folks with your music. ❤
Wow. Thank you for sharing! I'm often overwhelmed when I hear how much our music was a part of people's lives. We were very lucky in that way. Thanks for being here
I remember when I used to listen to this song on my way to school waaaaaaaay back in 2004. Now, as an older man with a wife and two kids, listening to this song takes me back to those beautiful days when I was younger. Love from Italy Fred and love from me ♥️

You weren’t their original guitar player, but you were their best and my favorite.
You, being all nice, makes my day! Thanks
@@TheColorFred it’s the objective truth, man. You elevated an already amazing band. And thank you for the years of inspiration.

I agree. This album was very special and you were a huge part of why.

Yeah I agree
You're the reason i started listening to taking back Sunday fred.
How come I've only found this gem now... 🇧🇷
never realized it was a delay on the guitar in the verses. dope!
I know right? I always thought those were just rythmic downstrokes

C'mon Fred, step in and clear it up!
Fred did it manually on live performances. You can see it on a lot of old videos of that time
Still watching on the weekly ❤️
That last "I got it bad" at the end gives me chills everytime.
🤘👍
Thank you🙏🙏🙏
I turned off the track for that so it’s just me doing it live.

Omg I'm shaking after watching this. I have tickets to TBS in August in Ft. Lauderdale, but it's so upsetting Fred won't be there.

TBS was in its prime with Fred. Hasn’t been the same since.
Probably my all time favorite “screamer”. He does it with so much style and control.
PLEASE DO THIS WITH EVERY TAKING BACK SUNDAY SONG!!! This way I can learn EXACTLY how its supposed to be played
