The BMW Z3 is a truly underrated car. It is capable of offering huge amounts of driving pleasure compared to many pricey characterless sportcars. A real head-turner.
Love this comment, almost as much as I do my Z3. It really is a car which drives as good as it looks plus they can be an absolute bargain - my friends and family have all massively over-estimated what I paid for mine and I cannot help but smile. As with anything 20+ years plus they take a bit of upkeep but I've found it's relatively easy and affordable to do.
I agree it was an iconic design, I had 3 of them starting with an ‘R’ reg 1.9 in black with the same “camel” coloured interior and it was a great fun and spirited drive whether it was around the country lanes of Suffolk or motorway drives. Best on a bright autumn day with the top down and heater on 😂. Followed that up with a brand new 2.0 in black, deep red leather interior and as much chrome as possible! 🫢 They spoilt the rear end on that version in my view giving it a right pair of hips!😂 My last one, around 2003/4 was a 3.0 Sport in blue (including the hood) with brushed steel interior/black leather and alloys as big as they came back then! The sound of the engine was 👌, the sport seats hugged you in place and as ever the rear wheel drive was a treat. My ambition was to have the Coupe version but it was not to be 😢 Despite the reputation of being a “hairdresser’s” car that front end design remains a thing of style and beauty to me and its great to see this one and hear your view of it 👍
Thank you so much, hope to get it back on the channel again! Such a popular little car, not a million miles from my Porsche Cayman either which is why its had a decent amount of views.
Very interesting video on a future if not actual classic . The 2.8l , 190 bhp is the soft spot in the motorisations available . I suppose in modern terms the MX-5 +/- RF would be the answer to one's wish list . Both very highly desirable vehicles . Due diligence is the order of the day if considering buying this car with particular attention to the sill rust spots etc .The "shooting break" version can command prices north of £30k .
I had the same one 1998 2.8 Atlanta blue in UK great car but only for Summer otherwise it drinks 23mpg if not more but fun was great then I had black 2.2 sport 2002 had more fun as mpg was higher great car to keep it in garage for Summer time fun.
Enjoyable and gives me the idea of buying one. One small suggestion (besides looking at the camera which I did not even notice!) . Do you mention what year this is? I don't think you do. That would be helpful. Also it would be nice to give a look at the engine and a walk-around to see the body better. I would have liked to see how easy it was to put the top up and down. And some spirited driving and curves would show how well it handles -- plus a good hard "pull" to demonstrate acceleration, plus a braking test. Maybe when you say the MX-5 Miata isn't appealing to you, compare it to this car or the comment has no meaning. Pleasant video, in any case. Keep it up.
Prices increasing in the USA too……maybe 10-15k for a clean 6 cylinder. 4 cylinder and automatic transmissions drop price a bit. Fun car, just picked one up 👍🏻
In 2009, my girlfriend (at the time) had a 007 Z3 and I had a '83 DT Pantera. She bet me that her's would cost less to maintain than mine. Two months later, her Z3 packed up permanently. She was so angry when I had to pick her up that we broke off the relationship during that very journey.
As a Z3 owner that was looking for a miata before finding these to be cheaper and better in every way except weight, you're missing out, especially in the sound department. The M52 sounds lovely with a more open exhaust.
@@drtm1718 noise I totally agree tho old school induction and exhaust mods in the shed waiting to be fitted. I had an M2 comp before hand which to be fair whilst loud wasn’t a great sound either. It’s the weight I find most impressive, it is so easy to flick in to the bends and routinely hits over 40MPG. As you can probably guess the M2C struggled to hit 23MPG average 😂
It is really aggravating that you feel the need to look in to the camera like 50% of the time while fucking driving... if you cannot stand having the camera "look" at you, or want to engage the viewer, don't put it there, put it in front of you, or somewhere else all together. Worse than someone playing with their phone, and that is really bad...
Have you seen how small the Z3 is? Camera was nearly directly in front of me, nowhere else for it. Meaning I could see the road perfectly well. Would never do anything that would distract.
@@drtm1718 Wow.. that was really dumb. So you are ok if your oncoming traffic does not actually look at the road half of the time... lets see how you feel about that if you have an accident with someone who played on their phone instead of paying attention to the road. or some such..
@@Baerchenization How is him glancing over at the camera much different than glancing over at his mirrors or the gauge cluster? You must be an awful backseat driver.
One of the few BMW I actually like and much better looking than the Z 4

Thanks for the comment, yeah I couldn’t agree more. This has to be a current classic. Rust is the only thing that really frightens me with these.

he said it was a 1998 car
The cheapest bond car is actually the 90 series toyota Prado from the latest film 😉
Cheaper than the AMC Hornet?
In italy the price for 2.8 is not less than 20k

How does it compare to the Porsche. Very different in a way but interesting given values of these

🤣🤣 I think with BMW it’s a case of getting a good one, when you do it’s like a tank. This one has been super reliable but not all cars are the same.
Right I'll get my MX5 pitchfork out Joe :)
🤣🤣🤣 ooops

Hi Joe
the hp of the 98 2.8 is only 189
Really? I mean it didn’t feel quick but didn’t know it was as low as that!

If you really get aggravated that easily, you need to learn how to chill, dude.
