The fact that Ephraim has actual in game lines and such yet all of it goes completely unused is confuses me to no end. I also wish that the game could detect when you used the canon name for the Avatar character and just has voice lines for every character to refer you by name, especially when the games lack any real customization. Its not of much importance but I generally like to give my Avatar the canon name in games post Fates where customization doesn't exist and having the Avatar's name be spoken both makes it feel like I'm using the actual character and not an Avatar as well as make keeps it from feeling jarring when the text clearly says Alear but no one says the name vocally.
The Morion and Eve lines makes me think they were intended to be green units, mostly because they don't have any lines for engage things related (no character mentions, no battle or post battle voicelines, etc..) but the idea ended scrapped
Eve and Morion's cases remind me of Jeralt and Rhea's cases in Three Houses. With the only difference being that you could actually see Jeralt and Rhea's crit quotes in battle
Morion's voice clips are so amazing. I wonder, maybe they could have been used as green units in their respective "Castle Defense" maps but were ultimately scrapped

You know with all the extra time that they had, I'm kind of disappointed they didn't fully realize some parts of the game. Like unit outfits or f alear's hair situation. Units like lapis have great custom outfits that get used for one chapter and then get generic outfits for the rest of the game. F alear gets a ponytail in some of the classes but not many of them. You cant even make an argument about clipping because dispite alear having a ponytail as a great knight she not as a cavalier or paladin where her hair clips straight through the horse.
Sounds like Edelgard’s story in Three Houses. One decision, Byleth joins her. The other, they stay with Rhea to fight against her. Modders, you know what to do. Recreate the cut content and make them 100% playable (and maybe combine them with a randomizer for even more jank). Also, 1 HP Hyacinth is based.
My biggest wish pre launch was that Ephraim wouldn’t get totally neglected. I was just happy he made it at all, and the rest of the game I really loved, so I can’t say I’m super upset about his content getting cut. It would have been nice to hear more from him than a grunt during Twin Strike though. If we ever get more patches or more Engage content, I hope they utilize him more, though that is a dream that is probably quite far off.
If theres voicelines for Ephraim recorded why were they left unused? It feels really weird to see him not get to talk ywt for other multi character emblems all the featured characters of it get to speak
After beating the game myself, I still find it strange that this "polished" and "finished" game required a THIRTY MINUTE DOWNLOAD to fix an issue people have had from launch.
I can see why Ephriam wasn't as much of a focus due to Engage having 6 male and 6 female Emblem evenly, but they really should've just made him a seperate DLC Emblem. (They should've made Robin a seperate Emblem too) Also I'm very sad Éve wasn't playable
Its a real shame Morion was to be killed off in story. When I first saw his character design, prior the game release, I really wanted him in my team. Hopefully he’ll be on Fire Emblem Heroes soon.
1. Glad to know that Ephraim had been given at least A LITTLE more attention pre-release. The Sacred Stones was my introduction to Fire Emblem and I ALWAYS preferred Ephraim’s route to Eirika’s…even if it did make the Eirika/Seth paired ending harder to achieve. So yeah, to see Eirika get SO MUCH MORE attention was majorly depressing. 2. I wish they had left things alone if one used the default Alear name, as well. 3. Any chance you have anything on unused content for Fire Emblem Three Houses?
I really wish modern FE lords had a name and couldn't be changed. It takes so much away from big scenes when characters are crying and they just stop talking briefly because they can't say Alear
The Alear shouts make me think that the story event of turning Alear into an emblem could have legit just turned them into an emblem ring and removed them from your roster and that sounds pretty neat, at least compared to what we got instead.
Exactly. Metal is the exact word I was thinking, which is weird because I've been rewatching the crud out of Metalpocalypse given the movie and all yet somehow it did-
I really wish AT THE VERY LEAST is you give the protag the canon name the characters actually call them by that name. Ideally I'd like it if customizable characters were gone entirely.
One of the (many) underrated aspects of mass effect Andromeda was that if you kept Ryder's name as it's default Scott or Sara the other characters would audibly call you that rather than just by your last name or title. If Engage had been planning to do that, as the "Alear!" cut quotes seem to imply, that would have been magnificent. I'm at the point where naming my characters is nothing but an L, I'd rather the characters just say the MC's freaking name rather than constantly dancing around it the whole game. That, or, use AI voice acting for the single thing it can do that's a benefit, which is to have the characters say a custom name using that, but otherwise leaving everything to the actual VAs
I think Saphir might be the clearest example of IntSys and Pikazo not communicating during the design process, since almost nothing about her adds up if she's actually only 35 years old.
Sacred Stones was my first FE game so Eirika and Ephraim are my favorite lords. I'm so upset that they cut out so much Ephraim content especially the outfit. 😢 I would have loved to run around in his outfit. If it was already modeled or why would they take it away? It doesn't make sense.
I wish they made characters like Eve and Seforia playable in the post game. Just a fun, pointless little reward for playing skirmishes and tempest trials after the main campaign.
Ooh, all of this is very cool to find out about. And makes me excited to play it on an emulator one day. Just to do things on that, that I can' do on my Switch, like using mods/change things up.
One thing that I find very disheartening is the fact that newer games like Engage, Three houses and three hopes have much more unused content than pervious games in the franchise. I feel like that goes to show how many of the games in the fire emblem switch era have been rushed to some extent and often have more flaws than previous titles
Nah Engage's unused content is on par with the series size-wise. Only Three Houses is an outlier in that regard given how much fat had to be trimmed just to avoid a 3rd delay.
@@Dakress23 That is understandable but I believe that Three hopes had much more unused content then either Engage or three houses as whole classes and characters were cut from the game. In my opinion, Three houses had cut content but most of it became dlc later down the line. Meanwhile, Engage's cut content was left to rot
Engage's cut content isn't really telling of it being rushed in any way. It's probably just with stuff that ended up being changed within the story itself.
I mean, having cut content in general means that some ideas had to be removed, repurposed or there was no time to implement them into the game itself. Three houses, Engage and Three Hopes are all victims of this as they have different flaws and positives. While I have my thoughts on Engage as whole, I understand that cut content means some corners of the game were cut
@@Dakress23 Yeah, most of Engage's cut content is pretty much just standard placeholder stuff. 3H on the other hand is absolutely insane in terms of cut content. Remember when the game launched without maddening mode and people had to unlock it via a save editor? Remember when said save editors ALSO allowed you to unlock infernal mode which never ended up being released?
Hi! I had a few questions and thought maybe you'd have the answer to these: 1. Is there any data or mention of Alm? I feel he was robbed for no reason. 2. Is there any data or mention of Azura? Camilla's abilities are nice, but imo Azura was the clear choice, especially considering the title given to the emblem was " emblem of revelations." Finally, do you know if the genders for the avatar emblems were always meant to be what they are (e.g. byleth male and corrin female)?
i can very easily see an ealier version of Morion deathswhere the player is given a dummy goal to save him butits actulally impossible and hes taken away while the objective changes.
I seen some men that old look very similar to Vander IRL. But there is a phrase often said about the army, fear the old man in the profession where men die young.
@Akamegakillfan777 My uncle who retired from the 101st Airborne is in the same boat but he looks haggard. Fighting in Panama against Noriega will do that to you.
They have all that data on Ephraim but effectively cut him out lol. Despite all the 3H Lords and Chrobin being similar cases. Tf man You can't even summon him with Veronica. Why do they hate him lol
Knowing there were dummy voice clips to call the main character by name and actually treat them like a character instead of a divine self insert is kind of painful. This close.

I am currently replaying Fire Emblem Engage. I do wish we got new game plus, a villainous route and Ephraim. But still fun to play.
Let's be fair, the biggest piece of missing content, is the lack of Alm...
6:43 That right here would have made a great intro for this video. Right at 0:00 at the start of the video.
they had to nerf Ephriam. if they didn’t we’d be soloing maps like he did castles lol
3:29 why is Past Alear's growths better then Alear
Because of L O R E
Fell Dragons are just built better
I like to assume alear became weaker after 1000 years of basically doing nothing
You can make the argument that because Alear's transition from fell to devine was never finished, they are incomplete.
I can see why Ephriam wasn't as much of a focus due to Engage having 6 male and 6 female Emblem evenly, but they really should've just made him a seperate DLC Emblem. (They should've made Robin a seperate Emblem too)
Also I'm very sad Éve wasn't playable
It'd have been better to leave the avatar as Alear to have those voice clips.
Justice for my boi Ephraim. They couldn't let him outshine both his sister and Ike. lol
Considering what they did for the House Leaders' Emblem they should've been able to do that for Ephraim.
They definitely did Ephraim dirty. RIP. But thanks for pointing this out and the video. Also, shame that all of this was scrapped.
Funny thing about Leif's Master Bow, it's the only 1-2 range bow in the game (excluding skills)
Ephrain: Exists
IS: No you don't
It's oddly therapeutic to hear them shout alear over and over for some reason😅
The Alear shouts make me think that the story event of turning Alear into an emblem could have legit just turned them into an emblem ring and removed them from your roster and that sounds pretty neat, at least compared to what we got instead.
killing the main character and turning them into an emblem ring would have been metal ngl
Exactly. Metal is the exact word I was thinking, which is weird because I've been rewatching the crud out of Metalpocalypse given the movie and all yet somehow it did-
It would have been really cool to have basically replaced the main character with Veyle as your stand-in for the last couple chapters
When someone says metal, all I can think of is stuff like MetalKingBoo and Jules Conroy. Random, I know.
I'm really surprised Ephraim had voice lines but they randomly cut it. Like why?
As a 35 yo I take great offense at being called an old person
No way she's 35 when she says in one of her supports she's been having nightmares for decades.
Her supports definitely pin as an old (or aging) woman and that matches the design. I can't understand why they'd make her so young in the data.
@@Dakress23imean 15 to 35 is 2 decade's
@@RockR277 Well it IS anime. Everyone past 25 is essentially a corpse so her being treated as old is kinda fitting.
@@xacmashe3852Anime stereotypes are not guidelines
I wish that they had kept characters calling the avatar "Alear" if you gave them the default name.
I’m flabbergasted you still can’t change your characters outfits for battle so their not stuck in their class look if it’s bad.
Ooh, all of this is very cool to find out about. And makes me excited to play it on an emulator one day. Just to do things on that, that I can' do on my Switch, like using mods/change things up.
Ghast talking about cool FE stuff
*My head starts to bop to Bright Sandstorm*
Damn Lumera’s lines go kinda crazy
F for Ephraim
Hi!
I had a few questions and thought maybe you'd have the answer to these:
1. Is there any data or mention of Alm? I feel he was robbed for no reason.
2. Is there any data or mention of Azura? Camilla's abilities are nice, but imo Azura was the clear choice, especially considering the title given to the emblem was " emblem of revelations."
Finally, do you know if the genders for the avatar emblems were always meant to be what they are (e.g. byleth male and corrin female)?
Why did i laugh when hearing everyone say alear
i can very easily see an ealier version of Morion deathswhere the player is given a dummy goal to save him butits actulally impossible and hes taken away while the objective changes.
God, renaming protagonists has steadily become my least favorite part of modern FE
Wow, they found a full competent story in the cut files? How crazy!!!
DAMN. Vander is only 45?! You coulda fooled me.
I seen some men that old look very similar to Vander IRL. But there is a phrase often said about the army, fear the old man in the profession where men die young.
@@johnathanedwards9054 And yet my Uncle who retired from the Navy is over a decade older than him, but looks younger.
@Akamegakillfan777 My uncle who retired from the 101st Airborne is in the same boat but he looks haggard. Fighting in Panama against Noriega will do that to you.
Wow that cut Ephraim stuff hurts. I wonder why though? Surely this game wasn’t rushed?
re: the unused ages and cooking bonus, both Nel and Rafal get the bonus from the "younger" bonus despite not having even an internal age.
@@Iamnobody543 Alear also gets the bonus from "younger" because they're "17".
@@Iamnobody543 "Younger" bonus affects chars up to 19, "older" affects 20+
Are you ever going to finish the fire emblem three houses Claude documentary?
Look how they massacred my boy , Ephraim u_u
They have all that data on Ephraim but effectively cut him out lol. Despite all the 3H Lords and Chrobin being similar cases. Tf man
You can't even summon him with Veronica. Why do they hate him lol
What I really want is new game plus lol. Engage I swear has mechanics that would be 100% more understandable if new game plus were programmed into it
wait doesnt Hyacinth say these lines if he kills one of our units?
I guess EphraimDev did not work on Engage 😢
1:26 Roadhog looks different 🤣
Did they put king morions sword from the video where he fights hyacinth in the game? If they did whats it called?
Ephraim is one of my favorite Sacred Stones characters and one of my favorite FE characters ever. The fact he was done so dirty is depressing.
i still find the lack of dark tomes and the dark mage class line depressing. :s
Knowing there were dummy voice clips to call the main character by name and actually treat them like a character instead of a divine self insert is kind of painful.
This close.
I wish feature Armor Break from Fire Emblem Warriors (2017) return back to Fire Emblem Engage
A lyre?! What’s that?! *leaves*
Woah, Ephraim, you speak?!
poor greg

Someone is a fan of eveyle
I wonder if they were originally planning on there being an evil route with all the growths and battle quotes for villains
