I was lucky enough to get the proto in the US release. It's 100% a tempo trainer for me, but I never expected anything different. I have the Vaporfly and Alphafly. Streakfly is fast but it takes a little more effort. Great trainer and an excellent race option if you don't want to spend $200-$275 on a plated shoe. Comparing it to the Vaporfly is almost unfair. This shoe is $160, which is an excellent value in my opinion. I'm happy. Great video!
I’m one of those ‘one branded’ runners (well 2 if you take in my Saucony trail shoes). Point is… I’ve always ran in Adidas, never ventured onto try any other road shoes. But I do like your logical deconstruction of Nike runners, find them interesting. So, eager to hear your views of the Adistar, as they are currently sitting 3rd on my ‘to buy list’. See you got on well with the pixelated squares today on Strava 😉
I think the Streakfly are not meant to rival the Vaporfly, more to compliment it. The Vaporfly should be saved for premium race days whereas the far cheaper Streakfly can be used for the low key shorter races/park runs & training. I guess it is a rival to the Takumi Sen 8 but that is overpriced.
Another great video Ed. Nice little mention on why no one is running with them mentioned by a certain other tuber. You shut that one down brilliantly 😉
I can see why some might think the Rebel v2 is the "same experience" but for me it isn't. The Streakfly feels more connected to the ground, not as soft and just less shoe. Although both have 6mm drop I noticed it more in the Rebel v2 and that's from somebody who only normally runs in 8-10mm drop shoes. I gave up on the Rebel v2 as just found it too soft and didn't really like that low drop feeling but am not getting that feeling in the Streakfly. As for "daily training" guess might need to qualify what that means. I had been doing about 70 miles a week until got some niggles of late so would I use this "daily" for that - no way. I just don't need a shoe this light and "racy" to do say 10 mile easy road runs. Besides it may well only last 3 or 4 weeks if I did! If that 10 miles was a lot faster then maybe and I have once but did think I was pushing my luck for that sort of length run in terms of the protection it was offering compared to a carbon racer. So probably going to be short distance road or track reps or tempos for me although TBH like my races still not convinced the NEXT% isn't just better for me for all that too.
For me when I get my hands on it, it will replace my beloved Turbo 2s for short fast workouts. Think you’re probably correct in that I don’t see it replacing my Next% for any races. Can’t be long now till it’s back available 🤞🏽
Ordered my Streakfly on the second US release. Will use it for short faster runs but probably not races -- very happy with the Vaporfly. Will not use the Takumi Sen 8 for races either -- lockdown not good for me and laces are awful.
I feel like a lot of marathoners don't want to use their Vapor/Alpha flies for the weekend park run. This seems like a reasonable shoe for that use case - people who are coming down in distance from their A race distance.
Got mine in yesterday. Got 11 miles on them. They are light and fast. I like them. I can see doing speed work and 5K’s in. I did six miles in them today and at the end them seemed to lose something.
I don't have any shorter stuff coming nor do I go to the track currently however I'll probably buy some anyway (even though these were definitely made for elite runners per Nike.) Maybe a road mile PR attempt later in the year? BTW, people that can't run in plated shoes need to start doing some strength training. The shoes are showing you a weakness in your lower legs. LOL
Yeah this is the thing. I found i can run my 5k pace easily in the streakfly, as per a carbon shoe. Could i hold it? Maybe over 5k, for the longer distance stuff the sen 8 might be my best best as those rods are less rigid.
This is going to be a strange comment... but i do wonder about it sometimes when I watch your vids: Your reviews are excellent in terms of quality.... How are these on the legs? I always like the lighter shoes love the feel of the adios 5 but they beat my legs something awful, say vs running in the invincible ( current daily) I feel lethargic but my legs are always fresh the next day. I mean I know the shoes are polar opposite in that comparison. Vaporfly works for me but don’t wanna run in those everyday.
Hi Edd, bought the streakfly and have the same thoughts. Between my Endorphin Pros for most workouts and my Dragonflies for intense speedwork and races, I don’t quite see where the Streakflies fit in except in some very niche conditions - maybe a few workouts at 3k/5k pace?
Do I need the Streakfky? No. Why? Because I already have the Takumi Sen 8, the Puma Liberate Nitro and the NB FuelCell Rebel V2. No need for a 4th pair in that bracket. I might pick the Streakfky up once they are on sale with 50% discount or so, just to try them out. But for now, I am good without them.
I have the RC elite 2 rn for workouts, I’m a 1500-800 runner in college, thinking about getting the streakflies for xc training next year because having such a high stack height of squishy foam makes running anything quicker than 4:20-4:15 pace feels like the shoe is working against you, like it’s too quick of a pace for them. I think having smaller amounts of zoom x foam in the shoe would be better because it would be easier on the legs but also make it easier to his those paces without having to feel like I have to put on spikes to run that quick
@@EDDBUD I had done a Half in the Turbo 2 and they hold up very well. Perhaps the Streakfly will be too soft... How about using Streakfly for easy runs? I’m a lightweight runner.
I have to agree. In regards to racing. I think it is a good shoe but overhyped. Next % is plenty fast and propulsive for 5 or 10k and versatile enough to hit the marathon. Why would u pick this over next %? Well I guess price. I would use the streakfly more for training. Then again I already have to rebel v2, which sounds like a very similar shoe. Comparison video?
My head tells me the Vapor’s are faster but every time I run or race in the Streakfly I run better than in the vapour. Noticeably lighter, feel faster, softer underfoot, comfier and much better for cornering with quicker turnover. Lack of carbon doesn’t seem to matter

Hi @EDDBUD , question for you regarding carbon plated shoe sizing. Typically I am a 26.5cm in my left foot and 25.5cm in my right. For regular trainers I adopt the thumb width rule. So I always buy a size 9 (28cm) in Nike. Yesterday i finally got to try the alphafly after returning from injury. After my 1st 9 mile run, I have noticed that the zoomx foam is wearing away by the heel. Could this be due to my gait or should I have gone for a smaller size in carbon plated shoes?
I was just thinking about the streak fly and realized that the regular streaks and streak lt have air zoom units in the midsole. Do you think that would be a good addition instead of a carbon plate?
@@EDDBUD I know you also enjoyed the streak 7 and the yellow Nike you tested recently I forgot the name. They both had an air zoom unit in the midsole. Very eager to test the streakfly out soon though.
I have been looking for lightweight, flexible training shoe from Nike. The Puma Liberate Nitro is good, but the Streakfly is what I am looking for (I hope).
But Ed - I think I do need it LOL - seems like a pretty interesting shoe I actuallydont have ay Nikes in the rotation at this point as I am very happy with the NB and Puma lineups right now and yeah this seems to fit in that Rebel v2/Liberate space both of which I enjoy a ton. its a tough call with the SC Pacer coming out in the near future as well but Ill have to make that call soon because I believe that the new colors drop today or tomorrow...
I have both, and for what it is worth, I find the Prime X a very much similar ride and stance, just more firm. I personally like the Alphafly more enjoyable for longer runs. However, even though it’s firmer, the Prime X is more responsive, which equates to a faster ride. Long run to workout = Prime X / Long run for enjoyment = Alphafly.
The alphafly is more aggressive of a shoe, the primex feels like a training shoe rather than a race shoe to me. Just too unstable and risky for anything with quick turns or bends.
Nike Streakfly is cheaper than the NEXT%. So every km you run this shoe instead of the NEXT%. you save money. And you will be able to keep your NEXT%.for longer. This will save you money I believe. You need to think long term. The Adidas Takumi Sen 8 is a little bit expensive. We need Saucony, New Balance, ASICS and Puma to come up with an option.
I don't see it for me lol. Too many shoes already, but I have said that before and then got more. I like my workout shoes heavier than my race day shoes like a baseball player swinging a bunch of bats before he goes to the plate with just one bat. And I wouldn't use it for race day...I mostly race half marathons. But on running warehouse the new color is suppose to release tomorrow in the U.S....who knows what will happen once I have the ability to put that gorgeous shoe in the electronic basket and purchase it with earth credits. muahaha ha ha. i heard it is a good smelling shoe that one.
Interested to know from those that are commenting on here, when you say "save the Vaporflys for race day" how many races/what sort of mileage are you doing? As a 10k runner, I'm only doing maybe 5 races a year currently so they barely get worn. I've started using them for the odd tempo run or if I'm going for a 5/10K PB outside of a proper race, just to get more usage! Equally if I wear them too much, they won't be at their best for the proper races! Ha, first world problem I know. Appreciate they are more marathon orientated, but at £155 I couldn't resist and the difference even over 5/10k is huge!
The efficiency gains for vaporfly/alphafly start diminishing at about 80 miles. That's 3 marathons or 2 marathons and 2 tuneup half marathons, which is about as much as most marathoners do in a year.
Streekfly sounds like a nice shoe for my slow runs.. Light and soft. Only worry is if it doesn't let gravel go all the way through the soft midsole and hurt you metatarsal like the Rebel V2 does ❓
For shorter runs Puma Liberate Nitro is by quite a margin the best shoe, especially if you take into consideration the price. Close to that comes for me Skechers Razor+ but it's more expensive shoe. Please don't tell me about Adidas Adizero 6, everybody is praising this shoe, but for me, it's a junk.I swear this is my last Adidas shoes I bought. The other junk I have is Adizero Pro. Luckily I had some significant discount on both junks so I will use them as "lifestyle 3 stripes shoes" and nothing else. NB Rebel 2 is too soft and unstable. So much about "shoes for shorter distances like 5-10 km", which is nonsense. From Nike either you buy Vapourfly Next% or forget about Nike. All other Nikes I have are expensive junk. Despite the outlandish price Vpf Next% is worth it. It's an extraordinary shoe, which was really very surprising for me, because I have very low opinion about Nike running shoes. But since everyone was raving about it I decided to take a risk. It was worth it. So if Nike, either spend the money and buy Vpf Next%, or buy something else. But with Vpf Next% I don't see any reason why not to use it for any distance. Don't bother with this marketing stunt of 5 km shoe. It's a nonsense unless you are the next world champion. Which I doubt.
@@EDDBUD Maybe you are right Ed. I was in the past often suffering injuries because of wrong shoes and bad recommendations. Now not any more. When I see garbage I call it garbage and move on without hurting myself trying to adjust to the bad shoes. There is too much bad marketing causing wrong choices. Not just with shoes, of course. It is invested much more in marketing than in R&D in general, sad fact But thanks for noticing my bad mood from the other day. This new Nike shoe reminded me on some other Nike shoes from several years ago. Not good memories. Don't get me wrong, I like your channel. Keep going, you have thumbs up from me.
I am still wondering why Nike introduced the Streakfly. It is superlight, but other than that a fairly conventional shoe. IMHO the Vaporfly 4% FK is by far superior and Nike could have just reduced its stack height by a few mm, 5-10k supershoe is ready!
It's funny because before I watched your video I watched Ben Felton's. And he said he preferred the Streakfly to the Vaporfly for shorter distances like 5k. And he actually raced faster on the Streakfly than on the Vaporfly over that distance even though it doesn't have a carbon plate despite being lighter. Also there's the 'small' detail of the price difference of £105. th-cam.com/video/EBvh3f8g47w/w-d-xo.html

Sadly zoomx isn’t as durable as fuelcell or nitro / elite. Lightstrike is supremely durable too.

You seem very angry at shoes? Perhaps give them a break for a while.
A nylon plate would have helped.
so sad it doesnt available in my country
The streak vs Vapor comparisons don't really make sense to me. They are totally different. And made for different purposes.
I think people who haven’t worn the shoe ( which is many! ) will be keen to know the differences.
What's up Beast!
Grandad: There’s a moral to that story Del Boy but for the life of me I can’t find it.
🤣🤣🤣
Painful to launch a shoe that is just not available on your site due to way too few.
Feels dumb for Nike
Strange marketing for sure
It's funny because before I watched your video I watched Ben Felton's. And he said he preferred the Streakfly to the Vaporfly for shorter distances like 5k. And he actually raced faster on the Streakfly than on the Vaporfly over that distance even though it doesn't have a carbon plate despite being lighter. Also there's the 'small' detail of the price difference of £105. th-cam.com/video/EBvh3f8g47w/w-d-xo.html
I can’t see many using this over the next%.
Sounds like Nike are onto a winner with the Streakfly.
It’s a good daily trainer. Maybe for speed work only for some.
today i ordered a next %......
The better shoe for sure.
Some people just don't realise how much hype they've fallen for
It’s a good daily shoe but I am not very worried for the durability of the shoe.
Meta racer or streakfly. I like meta racee
Very different shoes. The streakfly is much more flexible.
Tame impala is Kevin Parker and only him 😉
Well yes. Aside from live.
It's really just for track workouts......none of the Nike elites will use it for 10km road races.......
Yes but few people are elite. As such why limit the sale of the shoe so much?
the streakfly shoes only suitable for daily training on a rubber trek..
It’s ok but very fragile midsole that tears easily.
Think they'll only appear in local races soon if bots start running.... 🤖 🏃
🤣
What non-Nike would you compare them to?
Maybe the rebel 2 or rc elite original.
You are too slow for it bud. 😂. (Pulling your leg). This helps me in my decision. Thanks for that review. Cheers!

Anything for beast! Clicks the special super like button ✅
The beast is remarkably well behaved right now.
👍
Just off podium!
@@EDDBUD 😫
HALF THE PRICE of the alphafly THO... 135 vs 270 ;)
Yes it’s a good daily speed shoe. I don’t see why for lighter runners it can do a variety of sessions.
Hey ed
Nope! I don’t need it.
Hi
Thanks for tuning in Robin :)

@@EDDBUD Yes!!! My first gold, can it continue with my half next week, who knows 😉😆
I see you're loving the Takumi Sen 8, won you over has it 😉
My endorphin speed 2 used to hammer my toes, now I'm lighter and faster it's becoming my go to shoe for decent runs, go figure i hated the things at first
@@EDDBUD Actually I've just bought the speedgoat 4, can't find the 5 anywhere with hoka having issues.
After my half I have a 4 stage trail run, the second being a 37 mile boscastle to Fowey run.
Should be interesting, managed 39k but hit the wall hard, so plenty of fuel for this one for sure.
Yo

Woohoo
If it didn't have that survey at the start I would have been quicker 😂

Edd. Danke schön. The vaporflys at least here in Denmark, Are almost double the Price of that streakfly thingy. Not really sure the comparison Are fair. Id rather hear how it compares to the adios 6 and the rebel v2? Those are closer price wise and non plated
Much for forgiving than the adios 6, though a great deal lighter too. The rebel 2 is close but i like the zoomx underfoot over the fuelcell foam.
