We talk a lot about exotic car financing on this channel and I know a lot of people are critical of it. When you combine it with cars that don't depreciate and you learn what you can before a purchase, it is a tremendously empowering tool to have a lot of car fun without having to save for years and years to pay cash.

I recently purchased and started building an Infiniti Q50 and started racing autocross in Phoenix Az, do you have any advice for someone who is just starting out and trying to make a name in the racing / car industry today? I have always had a passion for cars and grew up going to car shows with my parents every month and I recently graduated with a degree in Biology but im considering doing something with cars but dont know a good place to start. I currently have a decent job with the city that I live in but will be moving in the next couple months and I would like to find a position doing something that pertains to cars. Should I start at a dealership?

One thing I am confused about with this form of leasing is what happens in the event of catastrophic mechanical failure or massive maintenance bills (expected or otherwise) on the vehicles? There is nothing about that in the FAQ on the PFS website. With a lease on a new car the vehicle is under a warranty and as long as the lessee keeps up with a pre-defined maintenance schedule that warranty is honored and there is no issue with mechanicals affecting the residual value of the car or leaving the lessee out of pocket with a huge repair. What is the case here?
If I lease a Ferrari through PFS and it suffers a catastrophic mechanical failure (or it simply needs a major service) that would cost more to fix than the value of my lease payments (or would simply add substantially to them) can I just park it, complete the payments and turn it in at the end of the lease as a paperweight? Obviously in that instance the value of the car is different than the residual. Who pays? Are these cars being warrantied as part of the financing?
If I lease a Porsche new from the dealer it is covered by a warranty for the duration of the lease and its my responsibility to turn it in in good mechanical condition but that's easy to do because of the warranty. It seems like there is massive risk to the lessee in holding liability for potential mechanical issues on a very expensive vehicle they don't own.
Big question mark when a customer returns the car at the end of the lease with zero maintenance done and some paint/body damage. Not much of a security deposit to cover this expence!?!?!
Probably the most educated question I’ve ever seen in a comment section. I agree with you. Theres a big risk that sounds like it would make more sense to finance the car not lease it. That way the ownership is black and white
Hi Ben, Great question!
With any type of lease, finance, or cash purchase, the maintenance, condition and diminished value of a vehicle are your responsibility. This is true for all vehicles, whether it involves a new auto under a manufacturer's warranty, or a previously owned vintage or classic car. If leased through the manufacturer, you also have limitations in use, mileage and, ultimately, it needs to be returned and you are responsible for the wear and tear.
Premier provides an alternative means of leasing that functions more like financing, providing all the benefits of ownership with the tax and payment advantages of leasing to drivers who have already selected their vehicle and have negotiated a price.
No one wants a “2-ton paperweight,” no matter how beautiful.

I'm curious more about the nuts and bolts of this. Is he a dealer? Or a broker? Does he write a check for the car the lessee wants to lease and he collects their payments from them and then sell the car after the lease preferably more than the residual amount? So many questions lol

Overall I personally admire your ability to overcome the fear of going out on your own I’m not blaming him but my Father was the type of person to not take large risks therefore he was content on earning a Comfortable and steady income in his defense he kept his family clothed , fed , and housed so that rubbed off on me I was lucky to had gone to work for a couple of men that were hard working and very honest. For my hard work, honesty , and Integrity they did take care of me quite handsomely financially but that security did stop me from taking the bigger risk of going out on my own which of course limits the ability to earning the big money I was also Unfortunately did not have a loving supportive Wife by my side For the long term haul
