Definitely true about the lack of courtesy these days. How hard is it to change lanes in advance if the road is clear to let someone on an on ramp merge easily ?
The world has gone mad and you see it most on the roads.

people seriously can't merge though. even when you leave a good gap in front of you and there's a good gap behind you, people still try merge right where you are instead of just merging into a free spot

I'm 57 I ride a cruiser motorcycle and drive cars. When I was 16 I was always told to give trucks room. To this day I always give truckies respect and room, I even call them up on uhf and have had some great conversations from northern rivers to Sydney very very early mornings when driving. I call them up to let them know to pass if they need to and have always had great experiences with truckies. What happened to drivers today that have no common sense or understanding of the room trucks need?

The roads are not built correctly. The main roads boffins who actually know nothing shave the shoulders off the road. A truck or a coach can't get off the bitumen without rolling over. In an emergency there is no where to go. I am pleased that I am no longer driving for a living.

  • @chriscorrigan7420
    @chriscorrigan7420 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Your'e dead right Terry. NOBODY has any courtesy or respect for anyone, anymore. The roads are a bloody dangerous place to be nowadays. All of the imports that couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dogs arse, don't give a hoot and a holla' for the road rules but I must say there's a shit load of P platers just in simple defiance of and respect for other road user's. Where are the Cop's? They seem to be oblivious to the whole problem, you don't see them out on the roads like they used to be. Once if you drove on a particular piece of road you knew where the Cop's stashed themselve's in the bushes but now they're scared that Greenies will have them for destroying an endangered bug or piece of grass.

I'm really enjoying your videos Tez. We have a 12.5 tag axle coach weighing in at 18t that's been converted into a motorhome. These videos help me understand some of the challenges driving a larger vehicle can have. Whenever we travel somewhere I do a google earth street view check to make sure I'm not going to end up down some narrow street. Did that with a hired campervan in Italy and don't want to make that mistake again! Cheers from the Gold Coast hinterland.

Howdy, Terry! This is an interesting assortment! First clip: That's a shit place to park! Would that be a septic tank he's using as a wheel chock?
The crash involving the tank was in mid July 2023, on the Bruce Hwy, near Rockhampton. It was on it's way to Talisman Sabre war games. It was destined to not make it.
Others have commented with most of the details. Another (un)skilled 457 visa holder hard at "work"? There's been a few on this ep.
6:42 It's always the way. A half baked "genius" on holiday (more likely to be retired). Why do they drive around truck parking areas? Because (they think) they can.
Can't say I've never seen this before. As old mate told this clown: "We put up with this every holiday". As for the grey nomad, every day is a holiday!
And there's those that think it's OK to use truck bowsers, truck parking areas at rest areas, Truck Only stopping areas. Sharp as a bowling ball...

There should be a requirement to get training and a specific license to tow a caravan or at least have a LR licence. Far too many people decide to hitch up a van and have no idea about the extra width, length, height, weight, and especially how to reverse it.

1 I'd love and update if you get any information on what happened with that Abrams tank crash. NOBODY, especially my active duty Army mates, is talking. And I've put out many a feeler for the low down.
2 yeah dopey caravanner was never going to fit through that gap,but why the hell is truckie mate 3 days walk from the garden anyway? "Yeah,I'll just park inthe middle of the apron, stuff everyone else." And don't be helpful in any way...... I wish I had my Truckie/tradie licence, it seems like you buggers can just park anywhere, no really, why park so far away in the first place?
But the other part of that is most of the larger servos / travel centres seem to have forgotten to include parking for caravanners so they *have* to park where the trucks park. It's not something we prefer to to do. Even when the travel centre has decided to put 3 spaces in for caravans, the dickhead cars just park there because they're a drive through park, leaving us - again - with the trucking area as our only option.

  • @MickAngelhere

Unfortunately there are some truck driving schools that are handing out licenses to anybody who pays after a 48hr lesson in driving trucks.
I drive heavy vehicles and lack of curtesy is big problem on the roads, plus the lack of drivers having no real skills in driving, don’t get me started about people from overseas who bring their habits here, bd enough with Aussies as it is.
My favourite with car drivers is that they will suddenly pull out in front of you and you clean them up and then they say Oh I didn’t see you! I mean really, which part of my big heavy vehicle did you not see?
As for the Grey Nomads , hmmmmmm the biggest problem of all . No idea how to tow caravans and they get them at the time when their driving abilities are deteriorating.
One time coming back from Roma in my car , I stopped at Chinchilla and there was a huge RV being pulled out of the river, the bloke pulling it out, told me that it was third one that week.
Yep they think the accelerator is the brake and then drive straight in.

At 7.00 of this video here we have a typical entitled NOMAD towing a caravan. Before all these cameras were watching everything the truck driver just pushed the caravan out of the way. Also we have diesel land cruisers towing caravans fuelling up at the TRUCK ONLY diesel pumps and then leaving their vehicle and wandering around with no sense of urgency or respect for the truck driver who has this service station as his designated fuel refilling point. I have seen almost all, still getting surprised.

Like wazza said the firey crash with the US Abrams tank was at bajool which is 20km south of Rockhampton in central Queensland on its way from Gladstone port to the shoalwater bay military training area for exercise talisman sabre. The story I heard was a vehicle towing a caravan ignored the directions of the wide load escort pilot. But I’ve also just recently seen that the truck driver carrying the Abrams has been charged with dangerous driving, so 🤷‍♂️

Heya Tez, luvin' the continuous content and it has been a while since I've commented on one, but god damn, the thing that infuriates me most of all and you had heaps of examples here it that the vast majority of all the F ups were ding dings. They are quickly becoming a menace on the roads. The gov needs to stop accepting international licenses and make all do valid safety and competency tests on them. I am in no way being r@c1s7, I am simply being factual. I gave up running the highway because it's becoming more and more dangerous. At night they drive with the highs on and fail to dip lights to on coming traffic, they have a hard time keeping to their own side of the road or lane, constantly drifting (either watching vids on the phone or making TikTok vids) and even doing local now I see this on a daily basis. Even my brother doing Mel-Dubbo is forever complaining about it. Look I get it, we all have to learn somewhere but seriously, allowing people to drive heavy vehicle with an international ticket without competency or proper training is ludicrous and I am pretty certain there is no suck thing as a double where they come from....Rant over

For context of my experience, I've driven across India in a rickshaw, around Australia, across North America, and in numerous other countries (USA, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.) on both a motorbike and car licence. In my experience I've found Asian drivers the most aware of their surroundings.
