Hey, Man, I need to let you know that you have been a pleasure to experience this book with. I have been listening to your breakdowns ever since my school year has picked up more, and I've run out of time to read the chapters myself. I have you tell the epic while I complete other things, and it's kept me up to date for every class. So, most importantly, I'd like to thank you today from the cold land of Canada!
Ahh you saved my life in this midterms week sir but I wish there were videos of Odyssey and Thegony too. I’m actually really interested in listening to them with your commentary even after the exams. Thank you so much for your effort and time😊 Greetings from Türkiye, Istanbul University💌
There are a lot of good ones. I don’t feel that I’m an expert on that question, but I think Robert Fagles, who has an excellent reputation, is a great choice.
Definitely The Iliad. I do love the Odyssey, with its monsters and homecoming and faithful family, but I still always find the Iliad more impactful from start to finish. The gods and human struggles against fate seem so much richer in the Iliad. I like Odysseus, but his long convoluted fake stories about himself and slow progress home just don’t strike me the same as the continual tension between the glory of heroism and the catastrophic waste of war in the Iliad.
I originally intended to, but I didn’t have time last year for more than one overview video. I’d still like to sometime. If you nudge me hard enough, maybe I’ll get it done.
@silasmoser301 Because I don’t have time to make video notes over Odyssey, I’m offering audio notes over on Patreon to my subscribers if you’re interested. I will eventually get around to doing videos over them, but it won’t be any time soon, unfortunately.
Just finished watching the books.. You have been helpful, thanks

Thank you for all the insights.
Which translation of the Odyssey and the Iliad would you recommend?

I’d love an oddessy series your way of retelling is sooo helpful
@@mayabarracano2382 I have Odyssey notes started on Patreon if you’re interested!
May I ask you which one you find closer to yourself, Iliad or Odysseia?
Definitely The Iliad. I do love the Odyssey, with its monsters and homecoming and faithful family, but I still always find the Iliad more impactful from start to finish. I’m curious if you’re thinking about doing a new series for the Odyssey

I’d definitely appreciate your take on the Odyssey.
