There exists a race dubbed the “devil's race.” This documentary follows a man who relentlessly attempts to complete this extremely difficult feat. His name is Tomokazu Ihara, commonly known as Tomo.
100 miles, 100 times.
A leading professional trail runner in Japan, Tomo set a lifetime goal of achieving 100-mile races a hundred times and has currently completed 70 of them. Tomo, a formidable athlete, faces a race he has attempted three times but has yet to conquer-the infamous Barkley Marathons.
Born from the escape of a notorious criminal who killed Martin Luther King Jr., this unique race not only demands completion within a limited time but also involves enigmatic rules, including the search for hidden books scattered throughout the course. A treasure hunt, an adventure, and ultimately a storm of dropouts awaits participants. In its 36-year history, only 15 individuals, or less than 1% of participants, have finished the race.
In 2023, once again, numerous top runners became prey to the Barkley Marathons. For Tomo, it's his fourth attempt.
