I suffered as a kid and my parents ruled against taking them out. Moved to Japan in my 20s, to a very sunny environment and had a pretty healthy diet. Had kids there, but tonsillitis still plagued me at least 2x a year. Always had stones, bad breath - I had enough and got them out in my 30s at a Japanese hospital. The ENT surgeon showed me my white-pocked tonsils in a jar and said he'd never seen anything like them. Never felt better and don't regret my decision, at all.

As someone who used to suffer from chronic tonsillitis, tonsil stones and peritonsillar abscess once every month, I finally figured out what worked for me and now I dont get peritonsillar abscess or stones at all. I gargle twice daily with warm salt water and that clears all the food debris and microbes from the tonsil crypts, thus leading to no more tonsil stones and inflamed tonsils as a result. My grandmother did this every day her whole life and never had a sore throat or throat issue. I however, would get tonsil stones periodically for years and then developed two severe peritonsullar abseces in a one year period. Because they prevented me from breathing and prompted me to go to the ER due to the pain which was beyond anything I’d ever experienced, I had my tonsils removed since my ENT said absences have memory pockets and may come back since it strikes twice already. I should have kept up with the salt water rinse but on the bright side, I’ve never had a sore throat since and will never get another throat abscess.

I used to get these all the time as a kid. My pediatrician called them "puss bags on my tonsils." He told my mother that he refused to remove my tonsils because they protect me from catching things, and that these "puss bags" (stones) were just my tonsils doing their job.
I know it sounds weird but I could actually contract my throat and squeeze those puppies out, spitting them out. It was gros but such a relief to get them outta there.
I'm 62, and I still have my tonsils. It is a RARE occasion for me to get stones these days, but it can still happen. Of course I now know that it's my body fighting something so I help it along by taking extra vitamins, getting plenty of sleep and drinking a lot of water. . . and they go away.
I will say this though: I've had them SOOO many times that I have scars on my tonsils from them.

This obsession with removing valuable organs to the human body because there are some "problems" in them is completely insane. What in the world made doctors think the solution to these problems is to remove the ogran experiencing the problem? Where do they think this problem will go then? How about understanding and teaching people why they experience such problems and actually Curing these problems? Ooh I guess that's not what they signed up for when the many quacks became doctors...
At least there were and still are reputable doctors, and now there are amazing people like Dr Berg educating people for free online so we can all live healthier and understand how our bodies work, something which should be taught in schools but never was...

I never had tonsillitis or bronchitis ever again and now I'm in my fifties. My tonsils are very scarred but I'm so glad my dad wouldn't allow the doctors to take them out. Omgoodness I'm soooo sorry you had to go through that 😳😱😬!!!
I used to suffer a lot from tonsillitis but I still have my tonsils my parents NEVER took us to the doctor's when we were young 😔 except for one time when I couldn't stop crying because of a baby tooth and that dentist was so mad at my parents (I don't blame him you don't let your children suffer!!!) I understand that when we're young we shouldn't have to go for every little thing, but sometimes we may truly need help.
I have recently learned about tonsil stones, I didn't know what they were and occasionally I would cough them up because I almost choked on them 😮.
I started taking them off with a Qtip and I brush my tongue and with a tongue scraper after brushing I thankfully don't get them anymore 😊.

Thank you so much for this video Dr. Berg! We opted to not remove our 5 y/o son’s tonsils and adenoids late last year. We have adopted a routine of daily tea with fresh ginger, garlic, tiny squeeze of fresh Meyer lemon and raw honey in the morning and at night. We also try to have him gargle every night with warm salt water. We were already gluten and dairy free, and taking sporadically: cod liver oil, vit C, vit D3/K2, and zinc. We will be looking in to incorporating more of your suggestions and getting him outside early in the morning for more sunlight. Thank you!!! ☀️🤗💗

To anyone who is suffering with tonsil stones/tonsillitis, firstly I would like to extend my compassion. With one of the symptoms being bad breath it can be incredibly embarrassing and affect your life in so many ways. However, keep trying your best to keep your mind on the healing and getting well, relax and keep your environment as calm and peaceful as possible. Get enough sleep as this will really help. So on to the foods that can help your immune system~ what helped me~
    1. Apple cider vinegar drink it in lukewarm water 3 times daily. This will help to dissolve the tonsil stones & get rid of the bad bacteria in your throat and body.
    2. Gargle with very warm water with Himalayan salt
    3. Manuka honey to help sooth your throat
    4. Garlic & onions
    5. Ginger/ ginger shots if you prefer to have it juiced. Make sure it’s just ginger with celery or cucumber though.
    6. Filtered water
    7. A small amount of charcoal or bentonite clay mixed in water once a day.
    8. Aloe Vera water pure (without anything else added).
    9. Lemons and limes
Dr Berg has a video on a antibiotic drink you can make. This is a wonderful remedy~ as per usual he provides the best remedies! Also I get his vitamin D supplement to help.
Apart from this it is really important that you rest and relax and calm your mind and body, remind yourself you will heal and get well. I wish you all the best and good energy

Here's my N=1. I had been fighting them for years. I went carnivore 2 1/2 years ago and one day realized it had been ages since I had noticed them or had to remove them. I went to the mirror to see if I could extract some, like maybe they just didn't smell anymore, but there were none there. Over the last 2 1/2 years I have occasionally either gotten off track (always during winter holidays or my daughter's birthday) or tried to reintroduce some vegetables. No matter what non-carnivore food I'm eating, if I eat off plan more than a few days I'll start getting them again. When I get back to strict carnivore they disappear.
As to dairy, I can eat low carb dairy like cheddar cheese without bringing back tonsil stones, but if I eat or drink higher carb dairy like milk or plain Greek yogurt they'll start coming back.
I do take vitamin D and K2, but I was taking those before going carnivore, back when I had horrible tonsil stones.

I had strep as a kid many times which caused my tonsils to become basically scar tissue. They always looked swollen, but it was just scar tissue. This caused many caverns in my tonsils which allowed for bacteria and quite bad tonsil stones. I got my tonsils removed at around 22 and I haven’t observed any obvious ill effects. It turns out my brother was an asymptomatic carrier of strep, which is where I was getting it.

I take my own tonsil stones out myself. It's a process with a flash light, movable mirrors and long probes to push at my tonsils to pop them out, lots of gag reflex and coughing and tears but I get them out.
I do notice that I get tonsil stones when I am indoors more often. I used to save the stones after they dry up, yeah, they are gross.
When I sneeze sometimes they come out on their own, I've had them come out when I exercise or even when brushing my teeth.

One day while I was sick, I developed a body rash and my mom called his nurse. She came by and told her to stop giving me the penicillin. Even after that happened he continued to push the penicillin. My mother took me to another Dr about an hour away from where we lived. He told her that I was suffering from allergies and I needed to be in an air conditioned home. A man in our church paid for it. ( I will never forget that sweet man) I started irrigating my sinuses and everything started getting better. To this day I am very allergic to penicillin. I had my tonsils removed in my late 30s for not only constant tonsil stones and infections but also for loud snoring. It hurt like hell for 3 or 4 days, especially when the liquid Tylenol 3 wore off before my next dose, but I'm glad I did it.

😮 I just remembered that you're why I started taking extra vitamin D! It's true that it helps, y'all. And cutting out as much dairy as possible, too. I have always had big ole tonsils, but the one that ALWAYS had tonsil stones shrunk down some. It's been nice. My right one sometimes gets them. Very nice change. Better breath for sure!

What a great video Dr. Berg. I had those tonsil stones when I was in my teens and twenties. I also contracted strep frequently. In my early twenties, I had my tonsils removed. When I was in my thirties I was diagnosed with autoimmune disease. Interesting there is a correlation to autoimmune disease with having your tonsils removed.

Vitamin D deficiency seems to be the root to a lot of issues that you cover, but when you state taking 10,000 - 20,000 IUs, what about the risk of Vitamin D toxicity? Could you please elaborate further on this?

Fun fact. If you've removed your tonsils because of this issue and haven't addressed the root cause, you might feel great temporarily but your body will find another area to target and cause you pain and sickness signalling your attention until you fix the root cause... so while you think you've fixed the issue you've simply put a bandaid over the warning light

I'm very curious, Doc. I've always been a big fan. Do you have a team assisting you with this research, or did you conduct it independently? It's rare to find doctors who genuinely care these days. Your videos have shown me that many doctors merely treat symptoms rather than addressing the underlying issues. Perhaps we should consider hiring a biologist instead of a doctor.

I couldn't breath because my throat was swollen, so I told the Doctor about it. He didn't even bother looking at my throat, and he concluded "allergies".
Then, I used the Internet and it said tonsil stones. I don't a black light in the back of my throat, and they were glowing like Christmas lights.
So I searched about how to prevent them........ Tongue scraping with a tongue scraper, then I started coughing them out, and I rarely get them as of now.

I had chronic cryptic tonsillitis as a child with repeated incidents of documented strep yet doctors refused to remove my tonsils. I have had tonsil stones even now into my late 60’s. Keeping my tonsils didn’t prevent me from multiple allergies, developing asthma and chronic bronchitis, as well as 3 different types of autoimmune diseases. I was always outdoors and still am yet had a Vitamin D deficiency and have been on supplements for years. I have also had multiple surgeries for 2 different types of skin cancers. I can taste the stones and have learned how to debride my visible tonsil tissue to prevent them from getting larger. I had coughed up pea sized stones and people complained about my bad breath as a child and it continued until I learned how to remove them. I was hoping for something that would eliminate them but unfortunately, nothing new was revealed.

I used to get strep all the time. I was always getting sick. My tonsils were huge and unhealthy. When I was 21 and really sick with a bad sore throat, the doctor looked at me and said “have you ever thought about removing your tonsils”? He ended up removing them for me. The best thing I ever did. My tonsils were one of the worst he ever saw and they kept them for testing. He actually showed them to me in a little jar. I had deep crevices in them where tonsil stones would hide. Tonsil stones are the worst!

It's very interesting, I noticed that I have not coughed out tonsil stones for almost as long as I'm on keto (almost 3 years) and taking Vit D3 supplements (10000 iu dose) together with Vit K2 (100mcg). When I was brushing my teeth earlier, I started coughing and could feel the build-up of tonsil at the back of my mouth again (the long forgotten nasty taste at the back of my throat). Then I recalled I had stopped my Vit D3 and K2 (about 3mths ago) after I finished them and forgot to reorder... Was wondering if keto was helping me and this video came up at the right time! Definitely ordering my VitD3 again and looking forward to permanent goodbye to tonsils! Thank you!
