You would love the suite from fetus du Pour du village saxophone. Its in french and that's all I can remember of the name, I'll link you to the pieces. They are all gorgeous, much like your work here, that 3/4 feels so unsure of being a 3/4 I love it. th-cam.com/video/S9vKLOZvUAM/w-d-xo.html
@@sigmasquaredmusic haha, well little did you know, that is JeanJean! Took me 2 years to find the piece, trying to remember the french title. I've seen so many pictures of french villages that I became an architect before I finally found the piece.
I performed this with my sax quartet
That’s awesome, how was your performance?
@@sigmasquaredmusic it went very well
As a saxophone teacher I would love to work with this group to elevate the piece to the next level. Lovely performance and excellent writing
The Chant section sounds crazy similar to the opening part of Incantation and Dance
Humoristic and very cool piece!
thanks!
pagan ballad sounds strikingly similar to the 1st movement of philip glass' saxophone quartet
I loved that piece when I discovered it in college. It definitely influenced this one.
This is the greatest saxophone quartet I have ever heard
What a compliment, thanks for listening!
Can you arrange this for clarinet quartet please?
I already did! You can find it on my website here: sigmasquaredmusic.com/products/pagan-dances-clarinet-quartet
@@sigmasquaredmusicha! i was actually going to ask for the same thing

I agree, great piece, reminds me of a solo saxophone work by Jeanjean that I played in college. Thanks for sharing!

Umm why refer to this as pagan? Does it reference pagan cultures in anyway? Does it just use the word pagan because it commodifies the word.
I studied pagan religions a lot when I was younger. This suite is how I envisioned their dances would have sounded.
Which kind of pagan culture? Greek? Roman? Norse?
Greek.
