A Sad Hamster's Symphony | Musescore 4

- I got inspired to turn the popular Sad Hamster meme (a piece originally titled "Woe is Me" by Richard Myhill from SpongeBob) into a short one-movement symphony. This started out as a complete joke but it turned out to be something pretty nice in my opinion! I started writing this a little over a week ago. Hope you enjoy listening!

Future historians will be baffled and confused linking this piece to memes, and finally spongebob
All memes aside. This is unbelievably beautiful.
this is absolutely beautiful. one of the prettiest things i’ve ever heard.
thank you so much🎶💙
Literally about to ask my director if our symphony orchestra can play this haha you turned a stupid little song into something beautiful and something that would be so much fun to play. As a violinist I am in awe
thank you! haha that’s awesome, if you ever want the parts just let me know :)
@@christianwonmusicand i wanted to know which soundfont or plugin are you using for this majestic piece 😮
@@christianwonmusic Hi, can i have it please 🥺
5:40 Sounds so majestic and glorious
How could you turn something so exquisitely pitiful into something so legendary and majestic?🫵🏻🥺
Dude I BEG of you to put this on Spotify
I am on my knees begging and praying I need to be able to listen to this on repeat while I do my daily tasks 🙏🙏🙏
Ima try to get Spotify sorted out sooner than later! 🙏
@@christianwonmusic ILYSM
@@christianwonmusic pls do
Pls do! It's insanely good haha
Breathtaking. Wonderful. Incredible.
This needs to be performed by a symphony orchestra, and a good one. Well done Christian.
Thank you! Hopefully one day🙏
@@christianwonmusic Perhaps by the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, or the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Who knows, there's so many orchestras out there.
@@timmyc9915 that would be amazing, it would be a dream to connect with one of those orchestras - we’ll see in the future!
It’s Vienna philharmonic
And Singapore symphony is also good
"Splendid, exquisite, élégance"
_ Mozart
"I'm deaf but this is a banger"
Beethoven
" Gut-wrenching call from the saddest hamster"
Chopin
"Nah, I'd win"
Gojo Satoru
Imma need a Spotify version of this. It’s too godly of an arrangement not to 😭😭😭
Somehow sounded like Lotr in some sections 😂
working on it, thanks! I love the Lotr soundtrack so that makes sense haha
You are a gifted composer! This is one of the best pieces I’ve ever heard… and it’s based on a meme, which is incredible!
Thank you Victor!
@@christianwonmusic as a cellist myself, I love the cello part!
Never thought that a meme could be turned into something this beautiful, but here we are, and I'm all for it
This is the pinnacle of meme culture
I would pay an enormous amount of money to listen to this masterpiece live. Congratulations my friend
Thank you very much! 🙏
This is truly amazing!! I hope there will be a live performance of it one day too!
Btw thank you for writing where the theme is from in the caption, yesterday I started writing a 4 parts fugue on it 😂
Thank you so much, I hope so as well! It would be amazing to hear live. Wow, that's very cool I would like to hear it!
This song touches my heart
The fact that it’s all in Musescore is amazing
I first heard a part of this in Insta and i was like wow lmao, but now that i’ve listened to the full version, prepare yourself for an essay jsdjsksj:
3 words: variations, coherent, genius.
As a memer and student currently majoring in music and dying in music theory, i just LOVE the variety of instrumentation and the way you use somewhat variations of the same theme, “transcending” and reusing these motifs with very different and unusual chords that makes it never boring and yet, very clearly and coherent- it almost makes me want to analyse this if i was actually a theory enthusiast (except im not lmao)
at least i love the way you also made it into some kind of mystical Harry Potter music at 1:40 before then making a “fun, jester, medieval” variation at 3:22, then at 4:07 felt like soaring on a broomstick in the world of Harry Potter (or the opening of Fantastic Beasts 2), slow parts were like the sad moments of Fantastic Beasts somehow, and 6:10 became major like the ending of a classic film for a while before finally reinstating the main theme original, minor, dearly longing for something at the very end. Welp there i go where i thought i was gonna say in 1-2 sentences ended up doing a whole ahh analysis from a classical musician and movie fan while postponing practice whoops
my composition and theory docents would WISH to have such a genius composition student in our college lmaooo
woah thank you so much for this super insightful comment Chloe! I’m so glad and honored that you would take the time to write so much about my piece. I loved reading all your thoughts and you were spot on with the inspirations, especially with Harry Potter haha (John Williams is an absolute favorite ofc). that was a super amazing analysis, thank you once again!
Christian Won, a beautiful masterful, with a melancholic piece all at the same time. Beautiful work.
🙏🎶
@@christianwonmusic and did a beautiful job on making the music from iPhone variations for orchestra. Beautiful work there, Christian Won.
Christian won, he won indeed
It's cool that you take short melodys and make them long scaled works. Bravo 👏👏👏

Nice, really love the way you invert the theme around 2:11. Always so happy to see other people using Musescore, it wont be accepted unless we keep proving it should be! Keep up the amazing work!

This is really beautiful, well done on this piece of work, I hope to listen to more of your stuff in the future (Ps I love how it needed a meme to see your composing potential, but aye that’s how human brains work to gain someone’s attention 😂)
what a beautiful meme.
This NEEDS to be on streaming everywhere, this whole thing is beyond amazing.
Btw, it wouldn’t surprise me if I find your name credited on some high profile movie or show scores in the future. Godspeed man.

Thank you so much for your support, Elliot! 🙏🎶
Bravissimo!!
As a trombonist, I always thought the brass sounds in Musescore were pretty weird sounding, but they sound great with the rest of the orchestra!
yeah, the brass on musescore isn’t great standing alone but when blended together it’s pretty nice!
need this on spotify
CRACKEDDD
yoo thank you man
so good, it reminds me a lot of wizard101's music, composed by nelson everhart :]
yooo bro thats sick
This should have way more views (only 712 rn), blow up incoming...
DAMN THIS GOES SO HARD
I lowkey want to ask my professor to play this ❤😂😂
if you ever want the parts just lmk! :)
I had my bell turned on for you! God bless! Any chance of putting it on Spotify?
Thank you very much! I’m looking into Spotify at the moment, so stay tuned for that!
Absolutely brilliant score writing! I’m inspired to create such works of my own. This is a masterpiece in my opinion and I enjoyed every second of it!
If you don’t mind my constructive criticism here, I think the main motif is a little over used, but I still love the variants of it as the piece develops.
As a fellow musician I hope you go far in whatever path you’re on, and I hope to hear more amazing scores from you down the road!
Thank you Dominic! I’m really happy my work was able to inspire you 🙏 and absolutely thank you for the feedback! If I were to ever revise this I’m definitely planning on adding more different thematic materiel :) best of luck to you in all your endeavors!
Duno if I should cry or laugh with this
Extremely evocative of Shostakovich's film work. The Gadfly?
I heard the Tetris theme somewhere in there.
This is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing! You have amazing talent! Did you use MuseScore to play it back, or did you put it into a VST? My MS stuff usually comes out way too “mechanical”. Thanks!
Thank you Gary! I actually did use musescore for the playback! I think that with using musescore messing around with dynamic markings makes a lot of difference on the realism of the sound - many times I’ll add hairpins or dynamics I would not have on a printed score for the sake of bettering musescore’s sound. Hopefully that helps!
😢❤❤❤
OMGGGGGG I NEED THE MUSESCORE FILE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
resolution at bar 164 - nice Mahler influence
Bro 🫡
Hey, I am an Aufgussmeister in Czechia and would love to use this as a backround in one of my sauna ceremonies. (Dancefull performance inside of a sauna) Could I use this piece? 😅
hi! of course, you can absolutely use it :)
@@christianwonmusic thank you so much!
YAY

What are you doing for your career/what colleges are you looking at? I am also a composer as well and was wondering if that was something you are looking at.
I’m planning to go to conservatory for piano performance but will also be heavily studying composition in school!
@@christianwonmusic what conservatory are you looking at?
@@CGRcomposer I will be attending Oberlin Conservatory this fall :)
Kinda reminds me of Schindlers List Theme… But nonetheless still really beautiful
