Thanks Scott.... kudos for showing folks a way to do the adjustments without the spline tools. And your 3/4 turn out on the H screw -- glad that worked for you so well. (but lucky you guessed just right) As noted below, it's become really cheap to get your own spline tools. the most common shape can be had for $3 (or less) via ebay. A full variety ten pack can be had for $10 or less via Amazon. (and shipped prime) Yet funny thing, the new (omnipresent, yet miserable) China-saws don't even require spline tools. (the industry racket to try to prevent users from adjusting their own small engines now in tatters .... good! Still, I so want an electric saw -- and forever be done with this need to always fiddle with the carbs!)
Thanks for the info and yes, that little adjustment takes a splined driver. I ordered a 10 piece set do that I would have "all" the drivers needed for any small engine adjustment off ebay for $20.00.
one idea I have is to cut slots in the screws with a dremel tool. I can't imagine why a manufacturer would make it this hard to keep their machines running well! It's like I hate the brand for doing that. At least include the tool with the saw! Oh that might cost 20 cents!
