    Greetings from New Brunswick Canada, thank you very much for the information, you explain very well what ice actually does to concrete and you give several options for everyone to choose from, so your excellent explanation from me, thank you for your time in this video.

    Prestone driveway Heat main ingredient: calcium chloride.
    Roadrunner ice melt proprietary mixed ingredients: magnesium chloride, sodium chloride & calcium chloride.

      He forgot to mention that Roadrunner is a combination of those. Would you still recommend the product? I'm a tenant that lives on underneath a store & the sidewalk is part of their property. Mind you owner live on the property. The sidewalk does look like it's had better days, which deters me from wanting to use anything I don't want to damage anything by applying the wrong product. If not, I might stick with that Morton brand of Urea he said. I live in Jersey so it wont ever get below 20 degress F at least not the time i've been here. Thanks!

      @@dbzownz12345 You are correct, the bag in the video is a blend. If you are able to find straight Calcium Chloride that would be a good option. Urea would also be a good choice. Just bear in mind that not one product is 100% safe against damage. Proper application and timing is important. Over application is not recommended. Thank you for watching and pointing that out. Unfortunately I didn’t have a pure Calcium Chloride bad available at the time.

    Just go some of that Road Runner Ice melt. Would you recommend it for a asphalt driveway?

      It’s what I use for my asphalt driveway. Try to remember not to over apply too much product. Too much of one thing is never a good thing. By using more than needed you also waste $$$. Preparation is key. Depending on the size of your driveway, a spreader may be a good piece of equipment to invest in. Apply prior to certain snowfall. Be sure to clean off your boots or shoes prior to entering your home as Calcium Chloride can leave a messy residue. Of course always use your personal protective equipment ie gloves glasses etc. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! Be sure to Subscribe and like. Thank you! 😃

      @@JCTheLawnCareGuy That Roadrunner ice melt is not"calcium chloride" I just looked at a bag at Home Depot the other day it's magnesium chloride, stay away from that stuff unless you want to wreck your asphalt driveway.

      @@bayside6207 The Road Runner brand makes two different types, a Calcium Chloride blend like what you see in this video (mostly red bag with just the Roadrunner Character on it) and a “Pet Friendly Ice Melt” which is in fact Magnesium Chloride in a Light Blue and Green bag (also has Sylvester the cat on it). Customers can easily confuse the two but be sure the package states Calcium Chloride. Hope that helps 💯

    Totally disagree. Calcium chloride caused little holes on my concrete and ate my asphalt away.

    • @JCTheLawnCareGuy
      @JCTheLawnCareGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How new was your concrete? Did you use just calcium chloride or a calcium chloride ice melt blend? Calcium chloride is the safest ice melt in the market for concrete. It’s important to know the size of the area and the proper amount of product needed for correct application. I’m sorry that happened to your concrete.

      @@JCTheLawnCareGuy He said it ate his asphalt away as well.
