After all these months this video is still amazing. It's insane what kind of an atmosphere PENKYX is able to make in just a few seconds. And then that's countered by HOBBIT with his clear mix and beatboxing. One of the toughest battles I've seen on SBX even up to this day. Very well paired up. Looking forward to the 2015 edition.
I like Penkyx, but my issue is that looping is built on beatboxing, and looping all your sounds for a second or two and manipulating the tech the rest of the time is a bit of a cop out, though he makes dope music. As a (amateur) beatboxer, I want to hear them laying some shit down for a bar or two at least. Penkyx has mad skill, but he needs to take some notes from the dudes who keep winning like Faya Braz: old-school beats and drops keep winning.
To me, it's more impressive for a looper to use his own sounds and beatboxing to create the music with the assistance of the looper to do it what it does: loop. Penkyx however, uses reverb and a bunch of other effects that do the work for him. Not saying it doesn't sound good. I'm just saying that I don't seem to appreciate the type of skill involved in his style of performance as much as the hobbit's

Penkyx round 1 - Very nice, calm beatbox Hobbit round 1 - Very good, calm beatbox (Draw, but small + for Hobbit) Penkyx round 2 - Yeah, dynamic beat! Great rythm, all sounds are clear and you make very very very great beatbox! I love these climates! Hobbit round2 - Haha you copied your beatbox from Studio session and changed it a little! BUT I LOVE THIS BEATBOX! Hobbit should win this round, but Penkyx is right behind him! YOU ARE GREAT BEATBOXERS!!!!!

Dreadwyn he does use the same effects a lot and even the few vent battles I've witnessed he tends to use them too, even when a lot of people/judges say to stop... confused.
David Gustafson I think it was Slizzer, possibly Alem, who made a point out of not using effects a year or two ago..... over his beat he repeatedly dropped "if you think...... that I use effects...... then please..... disqualify me"... on one occasion he deliberately drops in the most obvious of echoes... I lol'd. Personally I'd prefer it if no effects were allowed. PENKYX's drop was pretty cool, it was really chill and sounded well. I enjoyed both of them though. Hobbit was awesome too. I liked how PENKYX said that Hobbit does the same stuff all over again, and then he changed and *BOOM HEADSHOT* he owned.

Hobbit's second set is his best of the entire competition, it's too bad he didn't save it for Faya Braz. He has probably the best range of any of the beatboxers in this competition. Talk about integrating a wide range of shit into his loops; amazing.
I've no issues with loopbox battlers using the effects in the system to their advantage. If you can make it sound like an actual professionally produced track then why not?

Yet I didn't like that show-off from PENKYX, since clearly he wasn't crushing his opponent in this battle, like he did against GRISON, there that show-off was great, but here it looked bad. And yeah, HOBBIT's second round was amazing.
Man I love hobbits second round he is so good. All of that layering is just beautiful, it diminishes penkyx. He was great in 2015 but kinda sucked 2017
