You left out 'attendre' and 'travailler'. As someone who teaches french, I've come across students who take 'attendre' to mean 'to attend' and 'travailler' as 'to travel'.
As a Spanish speaker, the worst faux ami was entendre and entender. Entendre = hear. Entender = understand. It was hard for me to get used to this difference. Another one is prendre and prender. Prendre = take. Prender = turn on/switch on.
I had question if I go to France and I somehow get hurt, so I am a native English speaker, so I will say pain, pain, pain!. so will the French people give me bread or take me to a hospital
Funnily enough alot of those false friends are not a problem for a native German speaker (though we have different faux amis obviously) but for example actuellement and éventuellement have the same meaning like the German words "Aktuell" and "Eventuell" (so for me it was tricky to learn them in English). And a library in German is also a "Bibliothek". So being a native German speaker and having learned English French isn't that difficult to learn. Alot of the grammatical concepts and certain words are close to German - e. g. there is a difference between "kennen" (connaître) and "wissen" (savoir) and so for me it was very easy to know when I had to use either of these words. And of course like in English there are alot of foreign words taken from French.
Hey ty for making this video... Really you don't know how much I learned from it... Honestly I would say I had trouble with these words.. I just want to say please make videos on some vocabulary :>
One heads up: Supporter can actually mean to support in the context of a football team for example. “Tu supportes quells équipe ?” Means “What team do you support?“ and it does not mean to put up with. “Les supporteurs“ means “the supporters“ (of a team)
Funnily enough in German it's more like French where the word "Aktuell" means currently. Same for eventually - the German word "eventuell" means "possibly".
What faux ami gives you the most trouble?
disparaitre... I was told someone had disparu and I thought they were temporarily lost..
I'm just beginner so I don't know many words. But my trouble friend now is "eventually vs éventuellement".
Can I say only 2 of them I knew and the rest of them were out of my head 😐
Actuellement
The word "Facture"😅
❤

attendre. I always think it means to attend but it means to wait. WHY!!!!!
😐Bro you are not the only one :|
Thank you very much for explaning.
A lot of these faux amis are pretty easy to avoid if you're a native spanish speaker and compare them to their spanish counterparts.

instead of entender, you could always use comprendre (to understand) if the two words confuse you a lot

éviter whiich means to avoid it, was my first faux ami

lol it is the exact same in danish.
There is another which came to my mind as a French learner-
The word is "Histoire"
Histoire actually means a story and not history.
It actually means both history and story, but yes...point taken.
Caractère: My first thought about this word was cataract 😂

I keep using actuellement wrong as actually it just sounds correct I’m sorry 😭
