  • This is a pretty wild boss and I was NOT expecting some comic Eldritch Bloodborne type fight here, I guess Miyazaki couldn’t help himself with this one 😆this is also my last remembrance boss before the final boss too!
I feel like this fight has the same rep as Commander Gaius where it seems not to many people care for it. I honestly don’t mind this fight though also like Gaius there are some pretty big flaws here, even bigger than his that can’t be ignored. For the good I’ll say that pretty much all of her melee moves are fairly straightforward and not too difficult to get into the rhythm of dodging and once I was learning the timings, it felt more natural to dodge them. She also leaves very generous openings after her combos to get hits in, especially after some of her bigger attacks.
With this said though I feel like there’s a lot of questionable things in this fight too. The first is that laser attack. It is pretty unanimously agreed on even from the best players, that this attack is straight up unavoidable to dodge with any normal roll. Even if certain AoW can avoid it the fact that it can’t be dodged from a normal roll makes this a blatantly unfair and bad attack, plain and simple. At least waterfowl can actually be dodged normally. Luckily though, the second laser can be completely avoided by positioning yourself in between it and the AoE and during this period you have lots of time to reapply buffs or hit her with ranged as she comes down.
The other questionable attack is her phase 2 transition AoE attack. I resorted to just face tanking the first mini explosion and using my recovery frames to avoid the second big one so that I could be right on top of her to get free damage. I was trying to get as far away from it as I could at first but the second explosion has a disgustingly large AoE that even when I ran 100 feet away from her, I’d STILL get hit. I don’t know the answer to this one either, maybe it’s dodgable but tanking the first hit to avoid the second was how I did it.
Another attack she has is the airborne spinning attack. I think the best answer to this is to already be far away from her and intercept her as she lands but I was trying to walk under her to mess with the tracking and while it worked with mild success sometimes, other times (like here) it didn’t. Gonna need more practice on this one
This was my longest boss write up yet, but only because these are things I felt like I needed to address lol. Everything else outside of this boss combat wise is great too though, the spectacle, the arena and especially the lore surrounding her. All of this stuff was great! Scadutree blessing +17 here
