    Wesley try this superset: V-raises on a incline bench with back hyperextension.
    V-raises will hit that stubborn LOWER TRAPS & hyperextension hits LOWER LATS.
    (I have seen Shawn Rhoden do V-raises often in his training videos & he has some of the complete Trap development)

    • @VintageGenetics
      @VintageGenetics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Noted! Will try those v-raises. Also I love doing v-rows on an incline row. Today is back day again so let's give it a try.

      @@georgemorgan5 no it not a Pullover. Search V raises for lower Trap in youtube. Athlean X has a video on it.. Hyperextension is the most important exercise you can do in gym to stay injury free.

    Hey Wesley, a good exercise for the middle to lower traps I have found is get in the position you are in at 7:15 and shrug the weight, it is important to be close to 45 degrees, you can load up the weight more of course, just shrug the shoulder blades together,

    Wesley, for the Q and A, would you considering explaining the lat pulldown, step by step? How to hold your hands, where to "aim" your elbows, how low should you go etc?

  • @mathieumilgram6798
    @mathieumilgram6798 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Charles Glass has a variation of the dumbbell row where he starts the movement with the weight accros the body, and as he pulls up and back to the hip, he also tries to pull the elbow around the back of the body and supinates the hand. Can't find the video anymore, but I had great results emphasizing the lower lats this way. I believe it is a superior variation of the classic dumbbell row for stubborn lower lats.
    Keep up the good work, waiting to see you place as you deserve in Olympia. Cheers.

    I've been lifting for about 7 years and you have provided the best advice that I've come across. Thank you and stay humble! Quick (maybe stupid) question - Do you have any recommendations if I want to look less thick and more defined? I typically lift heavy/slow- I have thick arms but no peaks, tree trunk legs and a thick back, but want to go for a less "hardened" and a sharper look, like a Christiano Rinaldo with more developed chest/muscle, or Michael B Jordan. My routine - Lifting many compounds like deadlifts, bench, squats, rows etc with some accessory like curls/lat raises.

    • @bryanirzz
      @bryanirzz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simply seek to get leaner and the hardened look will come with it.

  • @bigstef9134

    When training back I feel it works best if I imagine that 1 rep is made of 4 movements,like for a split second when the bar is like 2 palms away from my stomach I create a small break and then the weight shifts on to my back 100% and I just contract , same thing on the way back,I hold it with my my back then there is a split second when it feels like im doing the stretching part.
    What I noticed , besides a greater pump is that my arms do not get involved as much in the exercise and this in return creates more control on working the back.Its kinda like when doing pullups,if you hang at the bottom you have to re-engage the back before you continue the movement or you end up lifting with your arms and swinging,last thing is the stretching part,I found that not stretching to the max also makes my back more engaged and forces me to keep the force of the entire rep on my back instead of arms and my spine and neck stay fixed in place,giving full control on the movements,just feels 10 times better.

    Looking awesome Wes. Triceps have really come up, & look great with the striations you achieve in them. A little more mass on the upper long head, & they're going to add to your already long list of very strong body parts. You have the structure to get to top for sure. Standing next to Laureus at the end there, you can see just how wide your back really is. The thickness & detail will catch up, is only a matter of time.

Do that to failure. Then do skullcrushers. Do that to failure. And then do close clip bench press. A lot of hypertrophy in the triceps. Also might need to work on the lower traps as well. But I don’t know how the efficiently work that

    Wesley, I sincerely think you should train your abs more. Every old school bodybuilder with a SMALL and DEFINED midsection did lots of direct bodyweight ab training. I think your mid section is the weak link atm. It doesn't connect your great upper body to your legs, which I think furthermore creates the illusion that your legs are lagging. I would like to hear your own opinion on it. I know you're aware of your midsection being a weak point, but I reckon it's not just your stomach control like you think.

    • @VintageGenetics
      @VintageGenetics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll be incorporating more bodyweight ab exercises. I have noticed that my obliques are too involved when doing weighted ab exercises. I 'unfortunately' have a strong core so most crunch exercises (even with the entire weight stack) are pretty easy. However, I find doing leg raises more difficult and challenging with higher volume. That tells me my lower abs are a weaker point too, as well as the rectus abdominas in general.

    • @NapsterRulez
      @NapsterRulez 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VintageGenetics Yeah I reckon that will work! May I recommend decline ab crunches? They really helped me a lot. I find that those are the easiest to focus on the contraction. I truly wish you the best of luck. I hope just like all of us that it's not about the trophy and what they think looks good but about what you want to sculpt out of your body.
