We’ve seen that VLANs can divide up a switch into separate logical networks. But what happens when we run out of ports? We need to buy a new switch.
But how do we connect the two switches in a VLAN-aware network? Do we need a separate link for each VLAN? That could work, but won’t scale well. What if we have 50 VLANs?
Instead, we can use a trunk link. This uses a process called tagging, where the VLAN ID is added to each frame, in the form of a small tag in the ethernet header.
Now a single link can be used between the switches, and traffic from different VLANs can pass over it, all while still keeping the traffic separate.
There are a few special VLANs which work with this. One of these is VLAN 1, which is used for switch-to-switch control traffic (for example, CDP or LLDP). Another is the native VLAN, which enables non-VLAN aware devices to connect.
Trunking also enables extra features, like Router On A Stick, or ROAS. This is where a router can connect to the network using a single trunk link, and forward traffic between VLANs.

I've been attempting to rebuild this network from scratch and finallyyyyy got it working. Realized I forgot to set default gateways on the endpoints!

I usually enable LLDP on switches that link to things that are not other Cisco devices and are not PCs. Many security cameras and industrial devices like HVAC hardware will send out LLDP packets. It helps when you're trying to take an inventory of what's on your network.
I've known ROAS as inter-VLAN routing aka the 1-armed router which was initially a tricky method to learn starting out in networking.
Yeah, I think I've heard it called one-arm-mode too

please explain how voice vlan works ?
is it double tag at trunk port ?
do access port transmit/received tagged frame when connnected ip telephone ?
do IP telephone transmit/receive tagged frame for voice vlan ?
if so, we must need to configure vlan id in ip telephone?

this is a bit of a refresh/learning curve following a accident. It is interesting how tech and application has changed, using vlans over subnets and physical differences, it is ( appears) a more simple ( solution) to how things were done.... I feel old now, thanks LOL...

Things are always changing! It can be exciting, but also overwhelming at times.
load balancing is a bit complicated for this video, but there's several ways it can be done. The simplest one to start with is called a 'LAG' (Link Aggregation Group, AKA an 'Etherchannel). This bonds several layer-2 links to appear as one, where they can all forward traffic at the same time
@@NetworkDirection see we used to just call "LAG" port binding.
It was generally a pain to do at PC level as you could not hold two IP on one system.
But across the network they would work, BUT the packets would only flow down a single piped route, and if you had two pipes, it would not be balanced, but you would have failover.

Voice VLAN is configured on the access port. The access port can have a data VLAN and a Voice VLAN
The phone doesn't need to be configured with the VLAN number. It can work out all it needs to using either CDP or LLDP
Picture on left at 8:00 has an error -- VLAN 20 should be on a different subnet (192.168.20.0)

How do I practice these labs? Do I need to connect my router and do that Putty thing?
The simplest way is to use an emulator. This means that you can emulate, or simulate, how routers and switches work on your PC.
Try googling 'Cisco Packet Tracer', 'GNS3', 'CML', and 'eveNG', and see if any of those interest you
(Personally, I use CML, but it's not free; Some of the others are)
What happened if we attached one voice vlan (101) to multiple (data) vlan (105,106,107) . And vise versa
I'm not certain what you mean here? Do you mean if we have a data VLAN on an access port, and add a voice VLAN?
Or, do you mean a trunk link with several data vlans and a voice vlan?
I think you already covered this but gi 0/1 is server 1 and gi 0/2 is server 2? I get most of whats happening but forget whats what on the diagrams

How many services we run through a single vlan I'd like DHCP pppoe, voice and many more is there any limit can u tell u about that plz ?
gautam kumar no there isn’t. “Services” are just payloads in a frame. Switches don’t care about packets or their contents.
