    Listening to the bass drum in the distance kind of gives you shivers.

      Massed bands of the Gaurds were excellent as always. No way you could not march into the right pace with such a band in front of you.
      Watched the Royal Marines that same week too...hard to tell who´s better, they have both their owm qualities.

    Hello Geal, sure there are a log of CD's on the market. Search for Trooping the Colour and Beating Retreat for recordings of the Massed Bands. Older recordings of the Royal Tournament and Wembley are even better!

    Great music played by great bands...stirring, uplifting. I would like to know if there is a CD available featuring the massed bands of the British Foot Guards.

    Thanks Mart, I have several CDs but they are studio recordings and I don't include full percussion sections etc of the bands...and to me it makes a difference in the sound. But I'll keep trying, thanks for your response. Gael

      Hi Gael, yes I know the more recent recordings are all studio recordings. Better look for older releases which were resl live recordings.

      Hi Norman, I used a Nikon Coolpix P510. Just a 16mp camera used in Video mode. This year I'll try it with my Iphone 6 plus which is easier and lighter so more stable ( and less painfull to keep it above your head for almost 20 minutes. ) Can I ask which bat. you served?

    • @susansmith5965
      @susansmith5965 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I served in The Life Guards for 6 years. 1966 till 1972. Travelled the world with the armoured side of the regiment,then finished at Knightsbridge..... loved every minute.Well the training at the old Guards depot at Pirbright was a bit of a challenge!

    Could someone please explain the different movements of the Mace please?
    I'm guessing from a layman a view they signify both the direction the Drum Major/s want the band to go and the beat/rhythm of the respective March their playing at the time.
    I also notice that over the different Services seen here on TH-cam it's also quite different in movements and how it's carried. I'm really intrigued so your help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    what is the name of second march after voice of the guns?

    • @Kuiper3282
      @Kuiper3282  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David,
      It's "Back to Camp"by Blankenburg. If you listen good is really a combination of different other marches combined into one. A great performance by the Gaurds and it realy made marching for the troops easier!

      As an ex Guardsman I feel I'm qualify to comment on this video. The music is as always is brilliant, but the size and height of some of the ranks,and the dressing of the trooping itself is woefully short of the standards of old.I know there are women in the ranks these days...and welcome it, but there seems to be quite a few in the ranks smaller than the regulation 5 8",and loads of overweight soldiers on parade. The dressing was awful at time,even the band majors were at fault. Like I said the bands made me grow a few inches as always,but the sight of all those mobile phones and tablet made me smile while watching it, Good effort. NOMSKY.

      Susan Smith Hello Susan, I saddly must agree with you. I visited London as eary as the 70's and saw may Trooping the Colour parades, Beating Retreats and Royal Tournaments. Standard of drill and music is as good as always and way above other western countries ( over here in Holland it's just a disaster...) but I must admit in some ways even the Household Div. has to deal with limited resources. Same for the Royal Marines by the way..
