Hi Gil ~ Rafa's injury was to the iliopsoas, a hip flexor ( as well as lower spine flexor with fixed hip ) . That is Not an abductor. Thanks for your show as always and to Joel & Amy. Ciao! 🤟
What a nice Sunday afternoon Three surprise! Thank you for another excellent analysis/discussions. Spot on! Amy, a special thank you for so eloquently describing Monte Carlo venue ...it is one of the most beautiful places to watch tennis and explore the region as a tourist as well, though I believe Rome is the best... I really like Novak and want him to win Rome & RG, but I wish Musetti surprises us all and wins this MC Masters:)
Hey Gill. I always listen to you ‘three’. Great show. Jannik Sinner is from the SudTirol, in the Italian Alps, 400 miles NE of Monte-Carlo! I was M-C in ‘17 watching Rafa go 10 for the first time. Amy, if you ever go to Montecarlo take the train from Nice west to Antibes and go the Picasso Museum in a castle overlooking the water. Spectacular!
Funny thing is, the Monte Carlo Masters isn’t actually in Monte Carlo, or even Monaco. It’s played in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, just outside of the principality…
Great stuff Joel, Gill & Amy. Think Sinner is the biggest challenge to Nole in his draw. Per Gill, let's see how Novak's fitness is this year. Agree with Amy that Nole will be more fit and ready this year in MC. Gill, the numbers-stats speak for themselves. Joel, YOU HAVE GOT TO GO TO MC!!!! Still think Djoker is very very motivated after being 8-balled out of the Sunshine double and how that extra bulk and rest and planning-execution for MC clay pays off. Thanx guys. Best, Milan
Mentioned this on the other channel, on your Monte Carlo Predictions video, but Coria won Monte Carlo in 2004, having played in the Miami final against Roddick.
I think Djokovic's main goal should be to stay in the top 2. That way he avoids Alcaraz until the finals. He has no points to defend in MC so gaining points here and in Banja Luka will relieve pressure off Rome + Madrid if he does well.
I hate to break it to you but that was guaranteed the moment he won everything he did to end last and AO and this comes from a person that’s not a Novak fan
Surely, bc he won last year that's 1000 points to defend and Madrid 360, but even he don't do well in these tournaments as long he can win RG it won't matter, only few weeks delay that's all😌
He’s gonna win RG without even knowing his form in clay season lol and a guy name king of clay and also another guy name carlitos let’s pump the brakes 1 match at a time and 1 tournament at a time
He's starting to understand? He's way past starting to! Djokovic's whole plan is to peak physically and mentally for grandslam's. His priority is not to be too concerned with pushing himself too hard in his tournaments leading up to the French. If he wins the lead up tournaments to the French, it is more of a confidence builder but not a priority. The priority is to win the French!
But he did not miss that much Gill. He played some 20 matches in January and February. He has not played on 1 month. And his confidence is high, having won Wimbledon, Tel Aviv, Astana, Turin, Adelaide and Australia, and with the certainty that he will be allowed to play in the remaining tournaments this year. Last year, he had not played in 3 months save 3 matches in Dubai, and his confidence was low, having lost in Turin and been deported from Australia, with possible bans from playing in Europe and the US. Completely different Novak in 2023 than in 2022. That being said, Novak seems to need reps on clay before hitting his stride, and his draw is not an easy one, so while I would not be surprised if he lifts the trophy, I would also not be surprised if he lost in the SM, or even the QF or 3rd round.
Amy, Your Imperial units turn off 9/10 of the world’s people. Learn just a little: From miles to kilometers: Mult by 1.6: 20 miles to Italy = 32 kilometers Because 10 degrees C = 18 degrees F 0 Celsius = 32 Fahrenheit (freezing) 10 Celsius = 50 Fahrenheit 20 Celsius = 68 Fahrenheit 30 Celsius = 86 Fahrenheit 40 Celsius = 104 Fahrenheit … 100 Celsius = 212 Fahrenheit (boiling)
Novak Djokovic will be motivated to win Monte Carlo because he wants at least 3 🏆 of every big tournament. He will win The French Open and the Cincinnati Masters so he has won all Majors at least 3 times each and every Masters tournament 3 times each. Then he will win Olympic Gold next year to compete his resume. Also he will retire with most Grandslams and most single titles and put all records out of reach just like Tom Brady
I think Monte Carlo is too far ahead of RG, that's why Djokovic does not want to be in his peak form here, that is why Nadal does not want to resume competition here yet. They are only interested in RG, and want to build up their form as weeks progress towards RG. It is impossible to keep peak form for 2 months straight. With Alcaraz pulling out, I think we will see an unexpected winner.
Nadal wasn’t fit enough to play and hadn’t been serving until this week that’s why he’s not playing let’s see if he plays Barcelona I wouldn’t be shock either way
@@justusbeweel1109 But what's the point of the channel since Federer is retired, Nadal is becoming increasingly irrelevant outside of clay. Djokovic is only one of the Big 3 that is still a threat in all the tournaments. Unless we have a new Big 3 with maybe Alcaraz, Djokovic and maybe Medvedev/Sinner.
The only thing relevant to the tree is the three liberal commentators. For a balanced perspective would be nice to have just one conservative Christian.
Why so slow to comment on Djokovic loss at Monte Carlo? Amy & Joel predicted he’d be in ‘tip top’ form. Gil disagreed- insightfully. Focusing on cardiovascular fitness, his old breathing weakness recurs? No one expected hamstring & arm injuries in such a highly tuned/stretched body. Missed play time hasn’t reduced wear&tear.Aging is relentless!

I agree with this especially your ending I’m right there with you
We both called it
Musetti is undefeated against Alcaraz with his one hander.
It would surprise me massively if Nadal didn't play anything before RG
Same he play at least Madrid and Rome
I don’t think you are right
If anybody try to make the play as physical as can be against Djokovic,
They would loss
It might extend Djokovic's career. It also may have cost him the 2020 Wimby, 2022 USO and 2022 AO titles.
There was no 2020 Wimbledon
@@marlenebuls9535 Exactly. Due to Covid and restrictions.
Amy,
Your Imperial units turn off 9/10 of the world’s people. Learn just a little:
From miles to kilometers: Mult by 1.6:
20 miles to Italy = 32 kilometers
Because 10 degrees C = 18 degrees F
0 Celsius = 32 Fahrenheit (freezing)
10 Celsius = 50 Fahrenheit
20 Celsius = 68 Fahrenheit
30 Celsius = 86 Fahrenheit
40 Celsius = 104 Fahrenheit
…
100 Celsius = 212 Fahrenheit (boiling)
No need to explain it like that, anyone can google this. Stop being paternalistic. She knows more about tennis than you and that’s what matters.
Fair enough! I’ll do my best 😀👍
