  • Ended up just being the harness that connects to the temp sensor.
The insulation jacket it was pealing off and the copper wires were touching causing the temperature sensor to act erratically. I ended up taping the wires back up with electrical tape and no more overheating !

My 03 gmc 6.0 is overheating changed thermostat and new radiator because the old radiator busted and I was just told I need new heads that’s why my truck slowly heats up it’s gotten up to 230 then I cut it off. Just started doing this

i’m having an overheating problem on 2002 Yukon xl, so I recently changed the thermostat even though I don’t believe my old one was bad and that didn’t help. Then I moved on to the fan clutch and installed a new one but it’s still spiking but I also noticed in your video that you are missing the fan and fan clutch that bolts to the front of your water pump pulley. Did you remove it or does it not have one? That would certainly cause an overheat problem LOL! I think next will be to replace the water temp sensor.

Wait, it’s an 06? Electric fans then..my bad

Yes I believe mine have electric fans. have you made sure you have enough coolant in your radiator? Do you smell coolant when you open your hood .. maby a leak ? The temp sensor is a easy fix I would try that too..

The 06 does have electric fans. My temp gauge is also flaring. Scaring the crap out of Me. I'm going to check the temp sensor leads and holla back.

It was missing the foil heat jacket that protects from engine heat but which also makes replacing that sensor a real pain in the butt. Now we see why they put it there

You are probably not filling the coolant system properly and your system is full of hot air! Just like your video!
