This is very good cover! The vocalists sings the verses kinda like Patton does these days. The choruses are sung like in the original recording Epic. The instruments (especially the guitar) are pretty much spot-on. As I said, very good cover! I like it.
they should do a master of puppets cover. i know its old and a slightly different genre, but think, of one (tbh) the best bands EVER doing a cover of one of the most inspirational and legendary songs ever. come on, agree with me.
@Word2lifeson Don't assume that I only dislike it because 'it doesn't sound like the original'. I agree that covers should have their own stamp on it while staying true enough to the original at the same time. The thing is that the vocalist (who sometimes sounds good) just pissed about on this take. People who are bigger Atreyu fans are obviously going to be biased about it and automatically love it because it's them. Personally, I think they could've done better with "We Care a Lot".
I'm an old school FNM fan and are rapidly becoming an Atreyu fan. I think what most people on this page are too scared too say is that this version and the original both sound A) very similar give or take a few screams here and there, and B) both kick f&cken ass. This track was the birth of an era back in the day in terms of radio play and it is still to this day a massive tune. Good cover, perhaps my only comment is that they didn't make it their own, they covered it note for note...
@residualbill Of course a band is going to sound bad when they cover anything because they are limited to creativity and are placed within confined lines of the original author. And if you heard the original and came to like it more than likely you won't like covers. That's just common sense.
For you idiots out there saying this is not a good cover, the purpose of a cover is to make the song in your own style, and here Atreyu has done exactly that. This is NOT Faith No More, it IS Atreyu 100%.
Nasly voices were a thing back then. If you look at a lot of Rockstars from the 80's and 90's they were like that. And a lot of people wanted that. Personally I prefer Mike patterns early Faith no more to his later songs.
I love this version, mostly because I'm a metal fan. On top of that, I don't really care for rap, yet I love the original, as well. I guess because it did a great job of blending music that I love with music that I hate and making it something entirely different. And they care a lot. lol
i heard this on the radio, by faith no more, and always thought it was atreyu, cuz they played this at the show i went too, didnt know it was a cover. i like both, but this version more.
Covering a song is a form of flattery. Atreyu liked the song enough to play and record it. Amazing cover and amazing original. If this is the worst for you go watch american idol
I personally don't care too much for the vocal tone, but I think the instrumental is absolutely amazing. As stated before, it's just different. If that intended difference isn't the same experience you had with the original, well no shit.
Why do people come to a cover video and bitch when it isn't a exact carbon copy of the original? We get it, you numbskulls, it's not Patton doing the singing. It's a cover, which in itself means it will be at LEAST somewhat different (different bands, different styles). Imo, this tops the original (at least Brandon/Alex don't sound they're struggling/forcing the words out)
But musically this is an exact carbon copy.... That's what's terrible about this cover, they didn't even try to do something new or different with it, let alone change it to suit their own style
theblackwingedsoul I didn't come here to bitch. I came here to check it out. And now I'm going to bitch because I can't this dudes vocals. Lol They are so horrible imo. But hey, that's just my opinion. I never expect a cover to sound exactly like the original. Maybe some music changes but vocally, naw.
@UnexplainedDirge Just because you don't like it, that doesn't make it garbage. It just means you don't like the way they did it. I, personally, think that this cover is amazing.
Looking back at when the original came out. I was a wide eyed first grader staring at MTV on the TV screen. Little did I realize that FNM invented Nu-Metal long before it even existed as a term in the music lexicon.
Weeeell.. it's okay.. but if you want to find the best cover of this song, you should do a search for.. Epic- Ludo @ AT&T Block Party They're a power-pop band, but they do an AWESOME job with this song live. These guys can ROCK!
+ajgng1215 Nah, nobody is close to Mike Patton. He's from a different galaxy. His vocal range is somewhere between "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!" and "Is that even a human voice???" He's incredible, quite possibly the greatest all around vocalist/frontman....EVER!!!!
sydIRISH you must be from a different galaxy if you think Mike Patton is among the best vocalists out there haha. Seriously, listen to older Metallica, or even panic at the disco for christs sake. They put Mike Patton to shame without even trying..
Patton is unironically one of the greatest vocalists to have picked up a microphone. Look no further than stuff like his EP being a guest vocalist for The Dillinger Escape Plan called _Irony Is A Dead Scene_ . Compare him to anyone you want, you do you. But they all have their own styles and are all great in their own rights. Trying to make some baiting statement that one sucks or glorifying another by claiming their voice is godly and comparing them for some internet pissing contest is a disservice to all three.
It's hard to come close to Patton's crazy, varied vocal. It's also difficult to replicate the music itself w/out sounding too similar. I think Avenged Sevenfold could make a good, distinctive cover. It would certainly be a test of M. Shadows' vocal range.
...apart from the vocals, (which sound like someone clearly not right in their head or at gunpoint trying to imitate Patton,), this is almost musically identical, (to the point of sounding like someone singing over an instrumental of Epic) to the original. if i wanted to listen to someone who sounded like Mike Patton singing 'Epic' , then I'd listen to FNM.
I think this cover sounds so much better than the original, as many of covers I heard, I think the same thing. Alex have a fuckin' good and original scream, one of my favorites. If you ins't a fan of screamo, and don't like today's metal bands (metalcore, nu metal, hardcore) of course you will dislike this, but for me, that love this kind of music, I can say Alex is one of the bests (or at least original) screamers out there. This is my opinion, don't come here talking I don't know nothing -q
Also i wanna add They blended their style with the old funk/R&B. Screaming made the cover. Why would you want them to do it exactly the same. Wouldn't really be a cover
kind of funny how Atreyu is a distortion/metal band and yet people expect them to cover a song in a different way than how they make their actual music, that is just stupid to begin with, not to mention covers are amazing weather better or worse than the original because it opens the song to a whole new genre
Faith No More are legends in their own right, it is interesting and can be a good thing that other newer bands want to pay tribute and cover their songs. Some songs don't suite certain band's vocal styles. This band is new to me I never herd of it before so i am not sure how they sound with their own songs. Covers in people's opinions can get positive or negative reviews, you will most likely get a lot of people not liking this cover. Epic was not meant to have this kind of vocal style so naturally there will be negative reactions even if the band put their own spin on it. ,Atreyu's vocals would most likely best suite another song such as Surprise You're Dead (The Real Thing ) or even Malpractice (Angel Dust.) Faith No More have many in their discography all you have to do is look them up and judge for yourselves :D
+Pat S Um... this song is responsible for bands like Korn, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, System of a Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Incubus, Hoobstank TO NAME A FEW (for better or worse). An entire generation of bands. There's even a couple different videos with Corey Taylor where he talks about watching Faith No More perform "Epic" on the MTV VMA's changed his life. Not to mention their new album Sol Invictus is all over Best of 2015 charts. So yeah, I think it's safe to say "anyone fuckin heard the original".
+Pat S What do you mean again???? Have we spoken before lol I doubt it and anyway i was not hanging shit on this band. I was just making an observation lol. You actually asked if anyone has heard the original??? Did you even read my comment?
@TheStylesp Yea, his singing is hard to match up with, and Atreyu's I would say didn't quite cut it. But I still like the cover. Eventhough they could have done something about the vocals, to make it sound a bit better.
@AuddOneOut ...oh and if it makes you feel any better, I actually think this is a pretty decent cover musically, it's the screeching vocals that kill it for me, it just doesn't seem fitting for a song like Epic, but like I said that's just me :P
Wow chill the fuck out boy just because youre butthurt that youre wrong. You said Atreyu wrote Epic and sold it to Faith No More, Faith No More released Epic in 1989 and Atreyu only formed in 1998 (which is weirdly coincidental but still) even the oldest member of Atreyu would've been 10 when Epic came out so use your fucking head and while you're at it why don't you learn how to be respectful!!
The faith no more original came on vh1 ere a sec. ago and I thought that was the atreyu version, i like them both because they more or less sound the same to me.
It's called a "cover" for a reason, It's their own take on the song. What's the point if it'll just sound the exact same?
Duh?
This is very good cover! The vocalists sings the verses kinda like Patton does these days. The choruses are sung like in the original recording Epic. The instruments (especially the guitar) are pretty much spot-on. As I said, very good cover! I like it.
And yet again Atreyu has an excellent remake
they should do a master of puppets cover. i know its old and a slightly different genre, but think, of one (tbh) the best bands EVER doing a cover of one of the most inspirational and legendary songs ever. come on, agree with me.
Yes! Love this!
Cool.
I loved this cover! I wish Atreyu would come back from their hiatus.
great song and im glad atreyu redid it its a classic no one else remade so i like it
ATREYU DID SUCH A DAMN AWSOME JOB ON THIS SONG!
This song really lives up to it's name:D
Love this song. Great Job!!!!
@Word2lifeson Don't assume that I only dislike it because 'it doesn't sound like the original'. I agree that covers should have their own stamp on it while staying true enough to the original at the same time. The thing is that the vocalist (who sometimes sounds good) just pissed about on this take.

Who cares if it's the wrong album cover ? We're not playing the video to stare at the screen , we're playing it to listen to the song.
Lead Sails Paper Anchor. The text is upside down under ATREYU.
Este Cover Esta Brutal 🤘🏻
the chorus sounds lovely though
This song rocks so hard! I think I like it better than the original!
this is actually a very impressive cover!
@residualbill Of course a band is going to sound bad when they cover anything because they are limited to creativity and are placed within confined lines of the original author. And if you heard the original and came to like it more than likely you won't like covers. That's just common sense.
great cover faith no more would be proud
and to that one guy ETF sucks xD but ronnie is awesome and so is falling in reverse i
For you idiots out there saying this is not a good cover, the purpose of a cover is to make the song in your own style, and here Atreyu has done exactly that. This is NOT Faith No More, it IS Atreyu 100%.
This version is WAY better than the original. The original is ruined by the high-pitched, I-Just-Hit-Puberty voice.
Nasly voices were a thing back then. If you look at a lot of Rockstars from the 80's and 90's they were like that. And a lot of people wanted that. Personally I prefer Mike patterns early Faith no more to his later songs.
He was 19 when he sang Epic.
It was on the re-release version. Check wikipedia or any other source online.
I love this version, mostly because I'm a metal fan. On top of that, I don't really care for rap, yet I love the original, as well. I guess because it did a great job of blending music that I love with music that I hate and making it something entirely different. And they care a lot. lol
Nobody can be better than Patton !
I will say for Atreyu's style of music they did a good job on this cover, but in my personal oppinion the Faith No More version is better.
At least it still has the beautiful piano outro.
i heard this on the radio, by faith no more, and always thought it was atreyu, cuz they played this at the show i went too, didnt know it was a cover. i like both, but this version more.
@mikez2605 its not the artist. its youtube. it does it all the time. the song i think just fades to static for a few seconds at the end.
This version is the best
Epic !!!!
Why do people come to a cover video and bitch when it isn't a exact carbon copy of the original? We get it, you numbskulls, it's not Patton doing the singing. But hey, that's just my opinion. I never expect a cover to sound exactly like the original. Maybe some music changes but vocally, naw.
theblackwingedsoul I agree 100%
theblackwingedsoul exactly
definitely agree
@UnexplainedDirge Just because you don't like it, that doesn't make it garbage. It just means you don't like the way they did it. I, personally, think that this cover is amazing.
this is better then faith no more's version in my opinion
it has an extra solo
@ residualbill tthe purpose of a cover song is to remake the song in your own way.alot of covers dont sound like the original.
It's a epic song it's a damn good cover
dude this is better than the original song! >:D
Looking back at when the original came out. I was a wide eyed first grader staring at MTV on the TV screen. Little did I realize that FNM invented Nu-Metal long before it even existed as a term in the music lexicon.
Chuck Mosley was more of an inspiration for numetal compared to Patton.
Good shit
LOVE IT! this is wayyy better than their Bon Jovi cover :]
i've never heard such a thing myself but he sounds pretty confident.
Epic.
@MrSukaPunch he made a band called Highway Or Hell... i saw them live at the rockstar uproar festival in mandfield MA. they r pretty good.
cuz it knocks you off ur feet BLEEEHHH!
143 people disliked the song because they have different tastes.
love the original but i love this version more
I like it :p and the original
If I remember correctly I think Atreyu once said they were influenced by Faith No More but I could be wrong
only one thing to say for this song..... EPIIIIIIIIIIC!!!!!!!!!
@IAMBRUNDLEFLY So?! this is THEIR version of the song. They can change whatever they want in the song.
...ive been dying to here this song
and FROM ATREYU.
Faith no more verison is better, simply for the fact they made this fucking EPIC song!
Ryan Hawksley I see what you did there ... Lmao
Weeeell.. it's okay.. but if you want to find the best cover of this song, you should do a search for..
Epic- Ludo @ AT&T Block Party
They're a power-pop band, but they do an AWESOME job with this song live. These guys can ROCK!
i like the piano part towards the end its pretty cool im still tryin to learn that part but its so damn hard for me cuz theres no sheet music for it
0:32 not bad, actually close to Mike Patton
+ajgng1215 Nah, nobody is close to Mike Patton. He's from a different galaxy. His vocal range is somewhere between "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!" and "Is that even a human voice???" He's incredible, quite possibly the greatest all around vocalist/frontman....EVER!!!!

Nick Metallica and Panic at the Disco singers are better than Patton? ROFL
@@theajax96 ... James Hetfield and Brendon Urie better than PATTON? What are you smoking?

great cover... its not so easy this song....and not an ordinary band can make this cover
I like it a lot actually. Regardless if everyone is dissing it, I don't care. =p
Top notch cover
patton must be laughing when he hear this song! mike patton is untouchable
The last four minutes is kinda cool.
Oh shit sorry bud that was about 2 years ago. I have gone from being an ass to being a good sir.
Whoa... Patton is probably the greatest screamer this planets ever seen
The Adventures of Duane and Brando covered this song, personally I like theirs the best. Look up Epic By The Adventures of Duane and BrandO.
Yeah chorus is pretty sick along with the vamp to the solo.
@reper2099 well nobody can sing better than mike patton.
the whole fucking video is the album cover.
@xedygreenx I thought it was illegal to sell covers of songs since it isn't technically your work?
love the song, but why the 4 minute pause?
You misread. I write reviews for money. It's my job. Small difference.
Look up "heavy blog is heavy". Not necessarily a "blog"
Also i wanna add They blended their style with the old funk/R&B. Screaming made the cover. Why would you want them to do it exactly the same. Wouldn't really be a cover
If we break something we have too fix it and not turn away and act like we had nothing too do with it ..
kind of funny how Atreyu is a distortion/metal band and yet people expect them to cover a song in a different way than how they make their actual music, that is just stupid to begin with, not to mention covers are amazing weather better or worse than the original because it opens the song to a whole new genre

Nobody can imitate mike patton hes the best
Taken from Faith no more single
This is one of the few covers i prefer to the original.
i have to say only...
the name of song...
@Kagemusha1337 I actually prefer this version rather than Faith No More's
I wish I could do a wheel stand in a GTO n rip the back bumper off listening to this ultra loud
@residualbill Why? I'd love to hear stuff like that.
by Faith No More
I heard this version of the song first, then heard faith no more on the radio one time and laughed so bad...sounds so corny xP
BLEHHHHH!
the originals better, but this is a pretty good cover
@AuddOneOut
...oh and if it makes you feel any better, I actually think this is a pretty decent cover musically, it's the screeching vocals that kill it for me, it just doesn't seem fitting for a song like Epic, but like I said that's just me :P
Bleeeehhh!!!
Well, the guitar is awesome.
@Kagenoho lol its like hes singing in a backing track!!
This song was originally written by members of Atreyu and sold to FNM for a record deal. They were later allowed to "cover it"
Dude Atreyu weren't around until about 10 years after Faith No More released Epic
Fnm came out in like the 80's bro... Know you music before you comment with dumb shit.
Lol uhhhh, I was agreeing with you bro, I didn't even write the comment that said they gave it to atreyu....
Sorry man I didn't see your user name
The faith no more original came on vh1 ere a sec. ago and I thought that was the atreyu version, i like them both because they more or less sound the same to me.
